The devs did a really good job with the RT in this game, even the original RT mode made a big difference, i kinda liked the dark scenes from the Original RT, but the enhanced edition is just more realistic in every way, would have liked to see ray reconstruction implemented in the enhanced edition.
Thanks for doing this video. Metro was one of the first RT games, and after a year or two when RT game into it's own they released the enhanced edition. The enhanced edition is still impressive today. I think they should've reigned in the number of bounces just a bit, so it wasn't as bright.
I like the RT off to me metro games should have that damp cold dark color tone but the RTGI just does not deliver that. yes its a lot more realistic but I dont want realistic, I want artistic. with rtgi the atmosphere is just not the same.
The new version is also very artistic, they redid it with this in mind, making very dark scenes often doesn't make your work better, sometimes it's just a resource to hide defects
If you show this to someone who's not familiar at all with the concept of ray tracing (maybe like your mom who doesn't play videogames) I'm willing to bet that they will say that the middle one looks the best. I feel like to a lot of people who do know about what ray tracing is there's a pressure to say it's the best just because we know it's the more realistic one. But when it comes to art realism doesn't always mean it's the best, especially when it comes with a very harsh performance loss.
i wonder if they can make a tech where the enhanced ray traced lightning looks, baked into the basic non rt looks every few seconds to make it semi real time ray tracing
reminds me of cyberpunk rasterised vs raytraced vs path traced but luckily the enhanced edition here isn't path traced and can actually be run on commercial use hardware
Enhanced looks better but makes the game look too "happy", if you know what I mean. I feel like the game is supposed to have a dark, gloomy tone like the original has.
I know RT is subjective if you like it enough to turn on dlss etc. but this game, cyberpunk Dying Light 2 and now Alan Wake 2 are extremely compelling arguments for a meaningful upgrade. Lighting is what makes the game immersive more than anything else. I’d happily have RT and lighting on ultra and most other settings on low.
it's the original game with RT off, original game with RT and the rerelease with RT only right ? it's not a mod that add bounces like cyberpunk 2077 have right ?
Enhanced RT is very impressive, but its also really bright - while maybe realistic and technically impressive and beautiful to look at, it also removes a lot of the gritty darkness and gloom that I think the devs intended originally.
С яркостью перестаралсь слишком атмосфера упала Я такой кайф ловил от этих серых и темных цветов Ну на каспий это лучше выглядит чем на новосибирске но даже так слишком ярко
I swear so many comments on here don't know know how light works. If I turn on a light or a sun is shining through a window then a lot of light will be in the room and spill into the next area, it's not a case of just turn the brightness slider up 50% ffs, it's not going to be bright in one room and dark in the other. Original looks really terrible compared to the enhanced version and I've played them both.
Ye Enchanced edition look realistic. But i play orginal version, why? Becouse from 60-70fps i got 100+ fps i use 165mhz monitor, and game feal lot better for me.
Hello, I have a question, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, how is it different from the original because I have a 1660. You install the Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition version and it doesn't work for me.
@@MxBenchmarkPC Hello, me again, I upgraded my 1660 to a 4060 and I've been seeing that the enchanced meter looks better with RTX but I feel like it doesn't look as sharp as the first but maybe it's just me and thanks for the video.
Do you ever go outside or have your window open? Or do you live in a small dark hole? Of course it's going to be bright if sun shines to your room. Light bounces around your room as long as it can. Idiot geez
no, no it does NOT. Ive played it both ways. Te lightning is much more relistic in Enhanced and makes the game look more real. Just turn the gamma down 1-2 pegs and it balances out.
Lmao, original is the worst BY FAR, the way light illuminates scenes is appalling. Do you have taste? Forget about taste, have you seen how lights works in real life???

@@unclexbox85 The light indicator on the hand does not light up in 3 options. The Rtx update destroy this mechanic. But if the developers took all this into account, then the option with rtx is undoubtedly the best, because this is the future of graphics in games.
The enhanced RT looks terrible, far too bright, there's no way they can call that realistic when a single camp fire lights up dark areas like a damn flood lamp....
I will disappoint you, but it’s impossible. You can make it look almost like it, but it won’t work in always changing environment. Re-shade cannot out-shine bouncing light from surfaces. You can reshade surfaces to make them brighter, but as result you will fck all the shadows in room making them too bright.
That isn't true in most scenes fps is the same as with it was in original game with single RTGI bounce, the game is now have many more RTGI bounce and still works good

Most likely we'll see the Path Tracing implementation with Ray Reconstruction in their next Metro game next year.

Which version would you recommend for low end gaming laptop users (rtx3050 AMD r7 6800U)
Enhanced Edition. With DLSS you'll be fine.
I prefer enhanced RT.

Yes.

it's great to see how a ground up redesign for RT can actually be efficient and have a huge image quality impact

You can return the darkness to EE edition by add little command which will remove white filter that make the game brighter

0:43 where is the shadow from the window’s curtain?
it's not a raytraced object, therefore no shadow
the curtain appears to be almost transparent
