  • The Association of Ethiopian Architects (AEA) in collaboration The Urban Center of Kebet Eske Ketema (KEK) organized an online discussion under the title ‘COVID-19 and CONSTRUCTION’ to understand how the corona virus pandemic is impacting the Construction Industry of Ethiopia.
Construction is the second largest industry in Ethiopia next to agriculture in which millions base their regular income. It is one of the sectors that will stay active during the pandemic and is not included in the State of Emergency.
The industry is expected to be hit hard by the pandemic. The nature of the industry requires working in close proximity, sharing tools and equipment. Construction sites have a natural potential to negatively contribute to the spread of the infection.
Considering the above mentioned points and other facts, the discussion, 'COVID-19 and CONSTRUCTION', was conducted with representatives of the Industry in Ethiopia to understand the major challenges and the possible solutions.
The discussion was held on the 18th of April, 2020.
