Great video Mark! Thank you. I learned four things. I did not know about hot showers and made that mistake at the Devil's Den because I was freezing.. did not know about massage, exercise, and duck diving either. Your explanations made sense.

Holly and me are also bad for the hot showers. But Dr Dave in comments has summed it up perfectly. Plus he is the expert in the field of dive medicine.

You can distill this down to 3 principles:
    1) Do not do anything which reduces the pressure on your body (Flying, going to altitude, ascending from a free dive). A drop in pressure allows nitrogen to release more rapidly
    2) Do not do anything which increases muscle blood flow (Massage, hot shower, exercise). Increased muscle blood flow increases speed of nitrogen release
    3) Stay well hydrated (no heavy drinking)

Great info Mark. The exercise bit is always a question I have had. Learned some things. Thanks for sharing. Love the poster of Holly behind you. It was like she was trying to clip something on your tank the whole time. 😁

Actually going from San Diego to Los Angeles is fine as it is mostly flat going on I5 and well under 1000ft. The Grapevine portion of I5 is on Kern county north of LA county on a section known as The Tejon Pass. The point still stands, as the Tejon Pass sits at an altitude of 4160ft (1268m) but you will only go over it if you are traveling from Southern California to e.g. San Francisco.

Thanks, Juan. That is what I meant to San Francisco as I was driving back to my Uncle's house in the Bay area after diving in La Jolla. Just couldn't remember which part had Tejon Pass. Thank you.
