What is the real reason why cats disappeared on an island called Cat Island?

In this video, I went to Okishima in Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture, which is famous for "Cat Island".
The purpose was to interact with many cats, but when we went there were almost none.
According to an islander, it was taken out by a non-resident a few years ago.
All the cats on this island are stray cats, so even if someone brought them back, there would be no legal problem, so it wasn't considered a problem.
I just pray that all the cats that were brought back are living healthy as protective cats.
I didn't meet any cats this time, but this island has a very long history and there are many things to see from the perspective of sightseeing, so I thought I'd like to go sightseeing again someday.

それで良かったのでしょうけれど、もらわれていった猫ちゃんたちが皆良い飼い主さんのもとでちゃんと楽しく生活できていることを願うばかりですね🌸
野良猫なので持ち出されても止めることができなかったというのが悲しい気もしますが、本当に幸せな家庭にもらわれていったのなら良いのになと思いたいですよね🤗
たくさんはいなくなりましたが夜になると港に集まってきます。最近はいたち、テン？が増えてきています。食物連鎖の猫のすき間に入ってきました。

島自体はとても歴史のあるところなので、機会がありましたらまた今度は島自体の観光を楽しみたいなと思いました🤗とてものどかで、幼少期の頃を思い出す素敵なところでした🥰
