This clip brings back so many amazing memories of two trips I made a few years ago. If you've never rafted go get some experience and great guide from Class VI and have the best time of your life.
I love seeing guides who are super used to seeing one flow. Its like they forget how to read water and look ahead to the next feature. That first big stern frame was hillarious
Does anyone know the name of the guy in the C1 ? He does have skills . What was the Meadow adding ? Paddled the Gauley in a C2 years ago (regular release) , good stuff . Paddled it in Kayak around this level , no place for grazing . Steve T
The Meadow River doesn't meet the Gauley until after this rapid (Pillow Rock). The Meadow confluence with the upper Gauley is right above the Lost Paddle rapid, which is the next Class V rapid after Pillow Rock. My husband has done the Gauley a few times in a C1. Half the paddle, twice the paddler ;-)
I think it's easier with that large volume of water and the lighter vessels - need the rafts with ten overweight tourists plowing into it trying to touch the rock falling all over each other.
When I ran this for the first time in my white water open canoe I stood there about an hour looking at it I have a ritual I poop and pee every time I run it it was scared the shit out of you
Lord Rock you probably could. The cool thing about Pillow Rock in general is it’s a low penalty class V. Even if you swim, you’ll be flushed out just fine.
How did you mount the go pro to the front and the back of the raft? It doesn't look like there is anything to mount it to? I am going for the first time next weekend... any tips would be appreciated!!! Thanks!!
Ned Flanders on the narration! Excellent! Howdely Doodely!
That’s what we like to see diddley see neighbor!

It actually looks easier than at 2800cfs, when there's still several holes to avoid on the way down...

Mount to your helmet.
are they really white water rafters? its hard to tell, perhaps you should clarify that a bit more
WHOS THE GUY IN THE c1?
can you roll? also if you smack that rock, you will feel it
Its whopping
"Oh my goodness"
gets really old when you say it over and over like that
This would have been an awesome video without the commentary.
Right? Sounds like an over-enthusiastic camp counselor
