Over time it’s really apparent just how good the writing is. In the span of 3 minutes we’re introduced to Erin’s family and you immediately know what each character is like.
IKR. They were able to establish something that it takes a whole season to do
Except the baby Lol
"I've decided to put my own spin on the uniform this year.."
*"I'll spin you across that floor, now put your blazer on!!"*
Whoever cast Erin and her mom as daughter and mother totally nailed it.
I just realized that Aunt Sarah blows on her bowl of cereal to cool it off.
She also takes Orla's bowl.
Joel Wheatley I think it may be oatmeal
The more you watch the episodes the more you see. This is why this show is brilliant. I just realized in the episode when Joe brings Naomh home to meet Sara and Mary they are wearing all Black nice dresses as if they have just got home from there moms funeral.
Lawrence Fike mamies
ffion forgive me for I am a American. Also I believe Joe’s fancy women name is Meadhbh
"why don't you just leave my mary alone"
*"bECAuse wEvE bEEn mARrieD fOR sEVEnteEn yeARs jOe"*
"I dont know about the rest of ya but im not enjoying this bomb" 🤣🤣
I'm not going to be an individual on me own!
Best line of the series!
Eso lo dice clare. No? Me hizo reir mucho!!!. Divina la petisa!!!!
“I have decided to put my own spin on my uniform”
“I’ll spin you across the floor get ur blazer on” HAHAHAHAHAHA
Right at the end of series 3, we have a lovely link back here with Erin finally putting on her denim jacket (an an adult). Masterful story writing.
Erin's adorable, you can't help feeling sorry for her.
Erin is so goodddd. She expressed the exact nervousness but still trying her best to hold on being firm in front of her ma when talking about wearing her jacket. That's peak acting.
“Is it aye? it is aye”
If anyone could translate that exchange. I'd be grateful. No clue what they meant
"is it?" "Yeah it is"
Desiree Loveros “Aye” is an alternative way of saying “yes”. It is used a lot in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England.
“McCauley Caulking isn’t a Protestant ma”
McCauley Culkin is actually Catholic.
@XZDrake No, there are millions of Catholics in the USA. Just think of the Irish, Italian and Polish immigrants who went there. Protestants are the majority but there is a large Catholic population too.
I wonder how many catholics obey the premarital sex rule
@XZDrake That's good to hear.

"I'll spin ya across that floor" line always gets me
wonder does anyone outside of ireland appreciate the terror caused by those 3 little words 'the wooden spoon'
fiachraswaz me
Went over my 3 year old London Head,I'm afraid :)
What does it mean, my friend?
Isleofskye the wooden spoon was the weapon of choice for most irish mammies when it came to smacking the kids. the psychological threat of the wooden spoon was always worse than the actual wooden spoon itself
Isleofskye just as an add on it was generally a smack on the ass with it. i had a fair few in my day haha
LOL..Thanks, my friend.
I respect her for being upfront with her mother, knowing the repercussions that was coming.
'Gerry pass me the wooden spoon'
the weapon of choice of all Irish mums raising kids in the 90's my mum lost a good few during our many battles 😂
🤣🤣
Italian-American moms as well, I feel your pain 😂
@@stirlingarcher7972I was just about to say “Italian mothers do it too” and then saw your comment haha trauma bonding
"Pass me the wooden spoon" every Irish mamy.
Not just Irish, it was the weapon of choice for my Mom too. Better the spoon that Dad removing his belt.
Love this scene. My mother just had to mention the wooden spoon. Worse, the sound of the wooden spoon drawer opening was enough for us to stop misbehaving and take her seriously. Don't remember ever actually getting hit with it but the threat was really the only thing holding us four kids back from total chaos in our house.
As a derry person i can say this is a hundred percent accurate
1:00 How people in Northern Ireland still react to bomb scares now, more of a hinderance and causing a traffic jam than anything else
‘I’ll find some dirt on you boy, I’ve got people working on it’
*goes back to watching tv*
“I’ve decided to put my own spin to my uniform this year “
“I’ll spin ye across that floor”
😂😂😭😭😭
is there nothing in this world more frighten to an Irish person than their mammy saying "Pass me the wooden Spoon"
Her mom's wardrobe matches that of my grandmas from the same era! I love it lol.
Love how the baby just watches them 0:43
just noticed the framed picture of jfk and jackie....the love for detail in this show is amazing
Here's one,if my brother and I were messing around my Irish mum would shout at us "GET UP AND SIT DOWN!!!" 😂😂 Still cracks me up to this day and I'm 40
"Jerr, pass me the wooden spoon"
😂😂😂
That baby is so cute!
Still to this day i hear wooden spoon and i feel that fear. an irish horror movie would just be some mother chasing her kids around with the wooden spoon
There's a short Mexican horror film of a man and Michael from 'Halloween' being chased by a Mexican mother with a chancla. Michael forgot to wipe his feet before entering the house and got dirt all over her nice clean floors. Now he knows how it feels to be chased around the house.
I'm from India and this show is soo soo good. So funny, weird characters and opinions on top of it unknown culture and time. Absolutely loved it.
Sad its very small
Samee I'm from India too and I loved this show very relatable lol
I've watched and rewatched 2 seasons and several RUclips uploads and have picked up on how the baby always seems to be following what's going on. Love it!
I didn't even notice the baby until the second series 🤣🤣
"Sure what's a pair of knickers between cousin's?" 😂😂
i love the way she says individuality
The wooden spoon ruled my childhood hahaha
the end of season 3 when she finally puts her denim jacket on as an individual
If Gerry wanted to drive them to school, Joe would criticize him for spoiling them. Poor Gerry just can't win, can he?
Granda was ok to him once in a while, like in the episode where he's eaten a magic scone 🤣🤣
Gerry, pass me the wooden spoon!! when I hear those words I still get flasbacks
I’m still scared of the wooden spoon 😳
I love this accent, both understandable (at least as an Italian speaker) and funny.
I just managed to discern the baby in the background. It's so cute!!!!
I’ve watched this a lot of times that I could say Erin’s words together with her
Pass me the wooden spoon. Never before has a more terrifying phrase been said on television
'I'll spin you across that floor' 😂😂
if you loved derry girls, watch the young offenders it is great. plus their is a 2016 movie prequel.
Irish and proud.
RP Mc'murphy love cork I'm from Derry !!!
Just found it on netflix! Thank you!!
Love this show. I'm watching it for the second time now.
Absolutely brilliant.... I had milk come through my nose the first time I seen this...."Pass me the wooden spoon"...Oh my !
I can’t wait for Derry Girls Season 2
God damn it, now I have to re-watch this series!
My city, amazing how they have nailed it, love it
Baby Anna is the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen
Luckily for my sister and I, the wooden spoon was kept in a drawer that squeaked when it was opened. We'd hear my mom going for it and we would bolt out of the house! Of course we were only postponing the enevitable!
Lmao this so show is amazing.. And just found it by accident on netflix, thank the gods
THIS FUCKING SHOW IS HILARIOUS!! Just how they talk has me rolling!
2:51 the expression on every pre-2000 child's face when they realize they've f&*@ked up big time and are about to suffer the wrath of their mammy
'Gerry pass me the wooden spoon'
I see so much similarity between the Irish mums and the Italian and Spanish mums hahahahahahahahahaha
Catholicisim really is something else.
Aunt Sarah stole Orla’s breakfast. Lmao
Funny! A pair of knickers to make a statement!
I love this show😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
My man Barristan.
Brilliant. lol
NO! NOT THE WOODEN SPOON!!! 😬😩😭
Anything but the wooden spoon!!!
I thought the best part of this scene, was just after this & Erin was wearing her school blazer & Clare took her denim jacket off, coz she didn't want to be an individual 'by herself'......😂 This is such a funny series.
I want "the Orla show"...!!
Ouch! 🥄🔥🍑
So funny
Mary is the best!
lmao my sister tried this and my mammy was quoting this scene
aaah ya canna not love thaaaat yaa
Cyril cusack and Eddie Byrne talk about Easter rising 1916 and Irish war of independence 1919 1921
I mean Eirn probably expressed herself more with her wearing her socks pushed down then with the jacket.
Barristan Selmy is brutal after his retirement
Tommy Tiernan who plays the father has a great chat show on Irish TV. He doesn't know the who the guests are. He's one of the best interviewers I've seen. Very insiteful questions. I'd recommend anyone to check it out if they like great intense chats!!
This is so fucking brilliant, how come i never heard about that before ?
Is there supposed to be some sort of subliminal or hidden message behind this comment Kevin ?
I'm afraid i don't . You can either try to be more specific and argumentative or just piss off . Your choice .
Kevin Gately is Dead haha I get it this other guy is dumb
some people eah
Then explain it to me Funko because i really don't. Unless it is some sort of gay or rather anti gay sort of repartee . If so can you point of the funny part please ? Same to you Oisin.
♥️🇮🇪 Derry girls
james roche wrong flag mate 🇬🇧
2cer3al They're in Ireland bud
Ryan x not the republic bud
2cer3al and what does that prove its still Ireland
Ryan x it proves that the union flag still flies over the land.
Erin got spanked
“He can’t cope “ “I can’t cope”😂 love it go follow on Instagram ‘derrygirls_fan’
In the first 11 seconds of this video the word "knickers" is said 4 times
I couldn’t believe how much I related to Erin. Strict Catholic mother against your taste in fashion, airhead aunt, annoying cousin, grumpy grandparent. 😅
She was blowing into a bowl of cereal?
Is it me but is aunt Sarah a scrounger
Nothing is more frightening as children to us Irish than the dreaded wooden spoon.....
Joe is too much, I wouldn't take it if I was Gerri. Living in your son in-law's house and direspecting him at the same time, yea, no, but I guess that's how we know its fiction 😅
😂😂🇮🇪
Louise Mcilwaine wrong flag brother 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 ayyyy
2cer3al I've saw you comment twice aha thanks for keeping people right
@@strogarth6752😂 their Irish Catholics mate. Not Brits. Nice try though like

Steven Baxter anger management lol
I mean depends on what religion you follow , I'm sure people who call it derry are looking you up and down
This accent is horrible
Well that’s nice
@@user-li2li8uy6n 😆😆😆
It’s fuckin grand that’s what it is so if ya don’t like it feck off
Just because you have no taste and are a horrible human being doesn't mean you should act like a complete dickhead. The Irish accent is wonderful. It's you that's the problem.
