Nigel are u married if so does your wife not enjoy to fish?
That was the lid for a water mine. Mark XIV British Naval Mine.. A 1920s design with either a 320 lbs. (145 kg) or 500 lbs. (227 kg) charge and Hertz horns. When switch horns were developed this mine became the Mark XVII.Mark XVII
Similar to the Mark XIV but with a larger belt. Used 11 switch horns and could be laid in waters up to 500 fathoms (915 m) deep. Available charges were 320 lbs. (145 kg), 450 lbs. (204 kg) or 500 lbs. (227 kg). This was the standard British contact mine of World War II. In 1949, 14,933 were in storage.
wow is this definite. we did think it was but wanted clarification. thank you very much
GEC, General Electric Co, became GEC Marconi when they took on Marconi Underwater Systems Limited (M.U.S.L.) and vastly increased their subsea portfolio.
GEC I think is General Electric Company
That wheel has bin to the water for a long long time! Blessings from Texas
Hi Nigel, Paul and Terri, great video as usual, see you all next time
ok being that i am from the states I was wondering what is a chap can? they kinda of look like the compressed air cans for air rifles know as "whippets" back in the day cause some would use them to get high off of
we call them chav cans. they have laughing gas in them and people breath them in which they really shouldn't.
Great little show, glad you managed to "Rescue" that other junk.Never mind google, for goodness sake don't tap it or the other green ended thing, we want you safe and sound, not blown to smithereens.
thanks for watching. glad you enjoyed it.
I am wondering if the "Lego" pieces are feet for scaffolding? The rectangular hole in them could have been for tying them together for stabilization?
GEC is General Electric Company. That just doesn't look like a landmine to me. Possibly a sea mine with the loop to anchor it to a weight, but that makes little sense to me, with the GEC on it. I am thinking more of a possible transformer casing or a pressure vessel. The 2 possible drain/fill holes stump me though.
thanks for the info!
Really cool find ! I think a first isn't it ?
Looks like the chain plate off a sea mine.
It looks like a really old AT land mine top
The letters G E C on the top of your "land mine", may be the General Electric Company, so its likely to be a hanging light fitting that would have a large Glass down underneath, housing a very big lightbulb.
we did check that too but couldn't find an image of any of them.
Where's arron
Hi Nigel. Im talking to my brother, Brett Noble and we were trying to remember a electrical shop on backway to Wellingboro. My partner Rob Stevens says you used to work there.many moons ago.....can you help?
Yes it was TLX services. They Went from there to Rushden then to Northampton. Company is still going but only online. Doesn’t have a shop any more.
Brilliant intro 👏
Glad you like it!
If that is part of a Landmine then what were those other 2 thing that you found that looked like rifle grenades but did not have the rods attached to the boom part..
Just curious ...... Great video otherwise ......
Thanx for the entertainment !
The second I saw that round thing you pulled up, I said is that a land mine? Then you said you thought it looked like one. I wonder what the letters stand for? It cleaned up really well. What wonderful things you both pulled up.
thank you!
Hi recently started watching you what size magnet do you use & can you literally legally go to do this in any canal or river my kids would love it
Either a part of a land mine or the top of a steam engine part;something like a pressure cooker thingy⁉️
CHEERS MATES 🍻ALSO, I WAS THINKING THAT IT LOOKS LIKE THE TOP OF A LANDMINE AS WELL!!!
Always enjoy your videos bc they are fun!
The thing at 21.15 was a part of a push carpet sweeper
thanks for the info!
Those bits are awesome. I hope they didn't go to scrap
thanks for watching!
looks like a land mine fingers crossed but the mouth piece and the other part for a draft horse i should imagine but the chaff cans some party must be a real kinky party with fur hand cuffs doing well nigel and paul and terri lol to all .terry
GEC did manufacture military stuff during the war years but never any land mines and from my military knowledge I've never seen a landmine like that all. More likely an industrial light fitting with a hanging ring on it.
thanks for the info!
Another great video! The history that you guys manage to pull out is amazing. Love watching your videos
Glad you like them!

Yeah looks like a world war 2 landmine
Was G E C General Electric Company i wonder if that item was some sort of conductor plate
That's my thoughts , it almost looks like terminals for a battery of some description.
"The search for Excalibur"? HAH!
thanks for watching!
Glad u didnt find the rest of that mine
no clue lol.. but some one said water mine,, in comments?.. cool
thanks for watching!
The “bit” at 21:16 looks like the part of a carpet sweeper that the handle screws onto.
thanks for the info!
Nice one Nigel and Paul.
That's just a medium nut and bolt ( although it looks more like a setscrew ) they start getting big at m60 plus
❤😊😊
Some people can be such idiots!
thanks for watching!
30:45 - I'd say pole mounted electrical transformer lid.
Looks like a land mine on google. There’s so many different types. Great video love to all
we did google lens it when we found it and it did come up as a land mine but we still wasn't sure.
Waiting
Enjoyed today's video had several interesting finds.
Glad you enjoyed it
retrospect...
thanks for watching!
Ps a setscrew is fully threaded were a bolt will have a partial plain shank then thread
