If you're discounting Pikachu because his name doesn't show up on titles, you gotta put Zelda above Link. Zelda as a name carries
I love you Tim, but what a wild conversation, lol
I for one loved the Year of Luigi and and own a lot of the products released that year
What is Tim talking about!? If you have to get rid of Link or Luigi, Luigi has to go.
Without Luigi, the Mario franchise will continue on. Without Link, the Zelda franchise is done.
Link, next question.
Who the hell is buying a Nintendo console for Donkey Kong? Link carried the console until Mario Odyssey came out
Better? Link. More recognized all around, Luigi.
New Super Luigi U, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Mario & Luigi Dream Team (which centered around Luigi), Dr. Luigi, Luigi Bros, not to mention all the merch, Club Nintendo stuff, and the special Dream Team 3DS. How was the Year of Luigi a failure. As a Luigi fan, I feel like I was eating good
Mario
Pikachu
Bowser
Peach
Link
This has got to be one of the best Kinda Funny discussions to date.
Tim is so wrong in this argument, proper context is not being considered.
Recently, I've noticed a trend of people saying that the Zelda series has only recently become a major franchise - since BOTW and TOTK. I get why people say that - the sales numbers are huge, compared to previous entries. But I think that's representative of the the entire games industry growing, rather than Zelda as a franchise becoming popular. Gaming used to be for 10-35 year olds. I think it's a become mainstream with all ages now - leading to bigger sales.
At launch, Twilight Princess had an insane attach rate with Wii consoles. I think it was almost 1:1 (which is huge when you think of how popular the Wii was). I used to listen to the IGN Nintendo podcast at that time and I think there was a period where sales numbers were even better than that - more copies of Twilight Princess (Wii version) were being sold than Wii consoles were.
Obviously that fell off over time - by the time, the Wii U launched, TP only had a 5% attach rate with Wii consoles and it sold less than 25% of BOTW's sales. But it was still a massive game at the time. The Zelda franchise has been a juggernaut for decades. I don't subscribe to the idea that Zelda's star has only just begun to rise.
Link FOR SURE stays over DK, never seeing DK again is nothing compared to never having another LoZ game with Link.
Mario
Pikachu
Tom Nook
Link
Kirby
Donkey Kong
Luigi
Samus
Marth
Fox
In terms of cutting either link or dk loose forever, you gotta keep link for game diversity. Dk games are more similar to mario games than zelda
Pikacuh
Link obviously because he looks better in a dress. Duh.
Drop the bit. It's not funny
Links name not being in the title is the dumbest argument ive ever heard. Dragon ball z isn't popular because of some orange balls, its popular because of Goku.
