The smile they share in that moment is perfect, because it's like they're both kind of thinking the same thing, though neither is willing to admit it yet. Luke was always meant to be her right guy.

these seasonal L&L recap thingees are wonderful. I'm gettin' all mushy now that this series is ending which is strange as I only started watching into the 4th season and only off and on at that. Suddenly, I'm borderline-obsessed.
@@starryxblue- They didn't actually meet in the first episode of season one. He already knew her. He did like her but he still needed a Dr. Phil tape to make it official.
Idk maybe the relationship would've gotten old and the writers needed a new relationship. I love Luke but him getting together too early with Lorelai would've been boring. It was nice to see Lorelai navigate her way through her relationships and developing up at ending up with Luke at the end.

I think that when they were talking about the right person who you could be happy to sit and eat disgusting lunch on the crazy town basket event with, Luke realised very well that she could be this right person for him and he could be this right person for her. I think we could see how much he hoped that she will realise it too. But (again) this did not happen and we had to wait until the very end of season 4... Grrrrr, I like GG very much, but sometimes when I watch some scenes again I hope some things would happened differently, faster, not happen etc.

She did say in the first season when Emily asked her “do you have feelings for this man?” Lorelai responded with “I don’t know..etc”
