I have never been this early to a Dr. Russell Barkley video -- let alone part 4 of his great practical series regarding low tech solutions 🎉🎉

I'm glad I found an amazing coach 😊 who helps me fill the gap between the knowing and the doing. Learning from this channel helps me a lot, but implementing the knowledge is where a coach can help.
If you have the money (coaching isn't cheap, nor covered by most insurance), I truly recommend finding a coach.
If you're into science (as in: doing experiments, collecting data, wanting to understand the 'why' of behavior) I can recommend my coach, Melia.

While i dont mind ADHD coaches per se. Sadly, the Netherlands has been flooded by Gabor Mate fans, and they are trying to "heal" ADHD by trying to talk a trauma onto you

In my country coaches need a licence as social counselers. The professional field of coaches ist strictly limited to advice and training for every day skills. Offering any kind of therapy would be a violation of national law. Therapy is a job for doctors, therapists and clinical psychologists with the required training.
For my own ADHD carreer coaching proved to be much more efficient than any therapy. One reason may be the risk of being misdiagnosed (e.g. misinterpreting ADHD burnout as depression). The other reason I see is a difference in mindsets.
Therapist: patient is broken, I´ll help them to fix themselves.
Coach: client has challenges, I´ll help them to find workarounds.
It took me years of hard work to lose the image of myself as being a broken person. Coaching helped a lot in this process.

Thanks for talking about us coaches! You mentioned this a bit but some coaches go into the thinking behind the practical like motivation, perfectionism, and emotional barriers. It's important to vet coaches to see how knowledgeable they are and to find the right fit.
Collaboration is the best part! It's a partnership and plus ADHDers don't like to be told what to do.

Hi Dr. Russell, what's your opinion on institutes that claim to treat ADHD, such as the Kaizen Center for example, or the Ned Hallowell centers? Also, do you prefer other clinics for ADHD treatments or ADHD coaches, or both per se?

So do you think it’s possible at all to be successful at all without ADHD medication ?

Wow what a coincidence... I've been feeling stressed and helpless in my self-efficacy in finding a coach or delegating someone to help me find one. I also was kinda hopeless that maybe ADHD coaching was entirely useless and no evidence to support it..... Then I see this video uploaded :D. Cool.

Wow the citations (except the first one) make me think I could have gotta adhd coaching earlier or at least attempted to self-coach/help...... just gotta tell myself better late than never.

Dear Dr. Barkley, I live in a college dormitory where some of us have ADHD. If we were to form an accountability group to support and coach each other weekly, do you think it could be beneficial? Thank you in advance!
