- A young female nurse, named Anna, is caught in the middle of a world-wide chaos as flesh-eating zombies begin rising up and taking over the world and attacking the living. She escapes into the streets and is rescued by a black police officer, named Kenneth. Together they find shelter in a mall along with a group of other survivors. For a while everything is ok, but pretty soon, they start running out of food, the power goes out, and the dead keep finding ways to break through their defenses. Realizing they're sitting ducks, they make a plan to head for an island by using two armored mall shuttle busses to get across the sea of zombies.

You just can't say 'No' and leave it at that. Romero's films are excellent, but the whole point of remakes are... well to remake! There is no point in going over the same ground again without some changes

There's honesty no story to this movie at all but it's one of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen and its actually fun to watch
THIS movie is what got me into Zombies. I love the old movies now too...but this one right here has a special place in my heart. Possibly the most I'd ever been scared in my life watching this at the movies.

Both 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later are excellent films. If you prefer a focus on the human element than you go with 28 Days. For an incredibly well paced thrill ride with a solid story you go with 28 Weeks. Personally I prefer Days but Weeks was a more than worthy sequel unlike so many other terrible sequels that get green lit.

This isn't a remake at all, the story is completely different from the original.. and the characters, the only thing that is the same is that they're in a mall..
The original Dawn of the Dead's Legacy made its great come back in 2004 with a honorable remake and a hilarious parody (Shaun of the dead).

This film was the reason I fell in love with Zombie slashers. I was glued to the screen when I first watched this. Awesome film.
This is one of those movies where the actual movie is better than the trailer. And the trailer still holds up. I used to watch this everyday after school as a teenager. I thought this was one of the best movies every made.
I like how this movie knew that it was going to be a shity movie and just gave everyone the middle finger near the end.

Good film, not shitty and the ending just emphasised the whole apocalyptic vision. If you look into the whole ethos of the living dead, you'll note that practically everyone is dead by the end, if not on film then in the original scripts. Unfortunately Hollywood loves upbeat finales...

They survive and not confirmed dead yet but good news is we getting dawn of the dead 2 2023 and four same actor survivors are still alive guys

Imagine how much better it would be if it didn't have the title "Dawn of the Dead". It's a good movie but it was forced to carry the baggage of the greatest zombie movie of all time.
About 90% of the time, people hear that they are making a remake of a classic and they immediately say 'Not a chance can they beat the original, it will be useless, you cant beat the original' well... This movie absolutely TEARS THE ORIGINAL! It is a way better than Romero's version! Fantastic remake and fantastic film. I dont really like the remakes but this is one of the best remakes so far! Fantastic.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite zombie movies, and you know you have a good zombie movie when you can be terrified the first time you watch it and be laughing your ass off the second time you watch it.
Top tips for zombie outbreak:
1) Stay away from Hospitals
2) Save ammo and use axes and sledgehammers
3) find a bunker
4) kill all infected even the little uns
5) if surronded hung a zombie, that way it'll feel like your dying in....somethings arms

who knew that a simple twik from zombies walking like a drunken guy to a very aggressive and fast running zombies would be so affective at turning the movie from a horror to a horror/thriller. don't know about you folks out there, but running zombies is always scarier than walking zombies. you can't run forever, and being chased by a zombie kinda makes sense how everyone could be infected. it becomes a matter of psychological trauma as well as physical for the characters to deal with

If a zombie apocalypse is caused by a virus, then therefore they are not zombies, they are the infected. But if it's naturally caused with no explanation, then they are zombies. This movie is a zombie movie, even if they are runners.
Whether the original was better or not, this movie was amazing in itself, and the critics agree
Out of all the '........of the Dead' films, I'm still finding this one the scariest.
I'm not even complimenting it as a remake, I just simply said THIS movie was amazing--not in comparison to its predcessor or anything--but cool, nice to know the original was awesome.
Easter Egg during the credits of this movie: Its very easy to miss, but the cop is the only one to survive. There is a very, VERY short clip of him walking threw the trees with a shotgun.
I think one of the reason why this movie's so great is because of the running zombies it gives more horror to the viewers...
I know right. Plus you'll have no food, water or shelter, which means you'll be exposed to all the zombies that like to sneak up on you at night. Not to mention you can't shoot or scream because that'll only attract more zombies.

my point was that their heart dies meaning it stops pumping blood into the body and even if the blood is warm which might give them certain flexibility, without heart pumping, it'd get cold very fast. but then again, someone on here brought up an idea that zombies do have blood circulation (cause if you shoot them in the head, it explodes with blood). but if their heart works and pumps blood it'd have to be the blood somehow doesnt get to all th areas of the brain otherwise they'd be just
Because running zombies are more intimidating, their aggression is more dangerous and makes you want to seek height as they usually cannot climb.
Slow zombies are only dangerous in close and in group, one and one you can take them out pretty easy. But an alone running zombie makes a larger threat than a slow one. Slow ones can be bit more dangerous during night as they are more silent.
I have an inkling that in the not so distant future, we will witness real-life scenes similar to those shown in this movie.
Already half of the US population living below the poverty line or barely above. Other developed countries on the path to the same situation. Costs of food, clothes, healthcare, fuel etc. skyrocketing everywhere. Unemployment reaches never-seen-before levels.

Scariest portrayal of zombies ever. Dawn of the Dead zombies are the friggin scariest because they don't die, can run, AND KNOW WHERE YOU ARE.
Even though this movie is a remake its still my favorite zombie movie for me of all time....Even other movies come very close
This movie was AWESOME.
a dead body doesnt have any blood circulation which makes it very stiff. dead bodies are always very heavy and stiff. warm blood is what makes us flexible and able to walk fast and run and so forth. so technically, if zombies were possible, meaning somehow their brain retains some functionality to make them move and eat, then that'd mean they wouldnt be able to run or move fast. but i'm probably being too technical about this anyway.
Yes, totally agree, however If your interested in seeing the original then its copyright ran out and it entered the public domain, so its perfectly legal to watch it online- i think that its on RUclips.
i laughed through the entire movie starting with when the father chunks his daughter across the hall then she gets up like a football player and runs into the door lol!

This is better than the original Dawn of the dead. Same as the 1990 Night of the living dead remake is also better than the original Night of the living dead.
Romero's Day Of the Dead is the best zombie movie ever made though. Day Of the Dead is an absolute masterpiece.

See that´s the difference. In the movies nobody has thought of that. It seems like the terms undead and zombie don´t exist. In our world, every third guy owns a gun, most people have at least the knowledge what to supposedly do in a zombie outbreak, thus the first zombie will be the last zombie.

probably one of the best zombie-horror-movies
my only problem with this movie is that they made the zombies "run" as if they were like sprinters near the end when the Party was fleeing in their trucks. It doesn't take a medical doctor to tell you that a human's motor functions deteriorate along with the body when it's dead. So it was confusing why the director would tell the actors playing the zombies to run like Usain Bolt. Unless, they were "fresh zombies" who still had that capability before rigor mortis set in.
The mall they filmed it in was very nicely decorated. Lots of money spent on it. Too bad it was never able to survive. 3/4 of it was demolished after the movie was filmed.

Ngl the way they did this trailer from screening effect to the sound tracks if I closed my eyes this felt like a Texas chainsaw massacre trailer if anything.
i just saw it about 5 hours ago on usa... It was to EPIC! my first time seeing it and i was overwhelmed by it's awesomeness. So much so, I am just now about to go to sleep.

The trailer made me wait to see it until it was on TV. What intrigued me about the movie was that (unlike in this trailer) the radio and TV news reports kept it real and made the movie a bit more believable. In this trailer you wouldn't think that. It's just "Residents are advised to go to a safe place and stay there!!!" all cheesy like.
So yeah...when I saw the trailer I was like "Hah....I'll pass." In a way that's good though because 99% of the time, the trailer is better than the movie.

I just saw the movie think its very good.So they found 2 buses and put lights and stuff like this on them and went to a boat.After a while the saw land,they got of the boat and zombies came and they died all.If you like zombie movies this is for you.
