  • Learn how to create floating cells in Excel with this easy tutorial. Perfect for organizing data and making your spreadsheets more visually appealing!
Floating cells saves time especially when you are working on a large data set. Instead of scrolling up and down to look at the data on a certain cell then you can float it. The cell or cells will stick on the screen as you scroll.

Or just make the frozen row higher and leave it there. Don't have to keep moving it.

The frozen row works only for the top rows. But if you want to float cells in the middle or at the bottom the you need a watch window.

I understand, but if you just want to constantly see the totals or other metrics, just leave it at the top where they will always be visible.

Now I get it. This is a good Idea and it saves time.

That's generally what I do. I like the floating window though. Neat trick. It would be great to keep it visible as the page scrolls automatically.
As a general rule on my work, I normally add an extra row the top and on the left side. I use SUBTOTAL to get metrics in the top row. That way if the data is added to or even filtered, the metrics will update.
