The duel at the end really makes me wish we got more of a chance to see high powered wizards in action. Just that short scene was one of the best moments in the series.

Just had a thought syncing up the movie would be alot easier if you showed like ten seconds of footage in the beginning so i new exactly what was happening

When the Minister said "He's back!" at the end my entire theater groaned, it was awesome.

Uh so the actor who played Crabbe, was caught growing Weed, then replaced in the later films. Then in the 2011 London Riots, he was reported to have been rioting and making a Petrol Bomb.
Really I thought it was because he was stabbed & died.

Neville is a Pure-Blood but Harry is half since his mother is Muggle-born. Voldemort chose Harry because they were more similar so he felt that was who the prophecy was about.
While they did cut a significant amount of material from the book, this is one of the better adaptations to film - Imelda Staunton is absolutely incredible as Umbridge. A performance up there with Jack Gleason as Joffrey Baratheon. Just thinking about her makes my toes curl.
I mean using the chamber of secrets would mean that Harry would have to let everyone in meaning they'd all be in the same place at the same time making it more likely they're caught. Failing that Harry would have to teach every DA member some parseltounge which would mean Marietta could still have told Umbridge how to get in. Also I think the girls bathroom is in a more public place than the entrance to the Room of Requirement.
Also, they'd have to get Fawkes to get them out every time.
It be a bit awkward to considering the giant dead snake skeleton.

I watched the movies when I was younger and never really grasped the overall meaning. I think this is one of my favorite films I just love how Harry is snappy and sarcastic, because practically up till this point he was hand held and in this film he kind of started taking charge and maybe it’s also ignorance and arrogance but I just love that aspect about it.
I wish Shane was here just so I can see him react to Umbridge.

The guy in the Hog's Head is actually Aberforth, Albus Dumbledore's brother. He looks very different when he shows up in the last film, so you have to know that info from the books to catch it. The goat behind him is a joke reference from the book version of Goblet of Fire where Dumbledore claims Aberforth was once prosecuted for using "inappropriate charms" on a goat.

Unrelated behind the scenes connections. Kenneth Brannagh (Gilderoy from the 2nd movie) was married to Emma Thompson (Trelawney). Their marriage ended when he had an affair with Helena Bonham-Carter (Bellatrix) during the filming of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Notice none of them are ever onscreen at the same time. Gilderoy and Trelawney went to college with Imelda Staunton (Umbridge) and Hugh Laurie (Dr. House), who were also an item at the time. The four of them started as comedians and formed a comedy troupe called Footlights when they were all at Cambridge, along with Stephen Frye (formerly of Blackadder and a few other things). They first became known to American audiences when all of them starred in a British Big Chill-type movie called Peter's Friends.
Using the chamber of secrets is a terrible idea.
1. Only Harry can get in so he would have to be their to let everyone in, which means he would either have to let people in through both doors, then go bsck to the entrance and wait. Or he would have to teach all of them parsletongue which means that umbridge would still end up getting it.
2. Also if they did that, then neville wouldnt know about the room of requirement in book 7 and wouldn't have hidden their.
3. They would have to travel in packs and unlike the room or requirement, the chamber wouldnt turn into a broom closet. Also theirs people flying all over the place so they may accidentally fall into the basalisk and get poisoned

Professor Grubly-Plank was female, and she wasn't the teacher that taught CoMC before Hagrid; she was a friend of Dumbledore and was doing him a favour.

The nerve of the minister and umbridge if dumbledore wasnt such a good guy he could literally fuck them up. They wouldnt be able to touch him.
Harry is not pure blood, he is a half blood, his mother is a muggle born witch, Neville is pure blood, but Voldermort instead of choosing the pure blood, which according to his beliefs are the better fit, he chooses Harry, because Voldemort himself is a half blood.
On another note, Harry's scream after Sirius's death was silenced because apparently the scream Daniel gave was so agonizing that it was too much, even making actors on set cry.
He is a "half blood" by Bellatrix's measurement. I feel Seamus would disagree "No, I'M half and half, Harry just has two Muggle grandparents, he's like a third of the magic population!"

@@jrob18mvp Like I said, that's someone's measurement while I feel Seamus would say that measurement is off, Harry had zero muggle parents just like Ron's and Hermione's kids.
If Lily and Hermione count as 50% like Seamus then Harry is 75% magic 25% muggle. Sidenote, if wizards and witches evolved from muggles there literally cannot be any 100%s, no matter how non-muggle your family tree is the magic still came into it from muggleborns.
EDIT: Of course, I'm assuming Seamus´ mother isn't muggleborn because then he'd count as 25% magic 75% muggle, fitting what Hagrid says. "Or less."

They had to mute the scene during which Sirius dies because Daniel's screams were too horrifying for the movie.
Theera Siddharth David Yates always planned to do that, he wanted it to be operatic.
Honestly I do feel like it was always the intention to mute, cause otherwise if what they say about Daniel's acting is true, then there's only two possibilities: (1) His scream was really good and emotional, in which case....why take out such Oscar-worthy acting? Let the audience cry, it's what we paid for. Or (2) his scream was loud and angsty but not that fitting, in which case....yes, take it out in replace it with the music.

There is a theory with Percy that he was under the imperious curse cast on him by wormtail because he turned against his family right at the time wormtail was freed and Scabbers was his pet for 12 years. Then after Wormtail died he came back to his family. The only way to be freed of the curse is if the caster sets you free or if they die.

I dont like that theory very much. Its just realistic that people sometimes make decisions that will screw over their friends and family just because they feel like it will bring them further in life. Or sometimes the opposite, they make decisions that will affect their friends and family positively but makes it worse for themselves in the long run. I like that storytelling, Percy makes this decision to chose his career over his family and later realizes that he had the wrong priorities.
Nah. Percy was always power hungry and of weak character.

@@R.E._Peony interesting. I thought each movie was really good but i thought goblet might've been the worst adaptation because they cut a lot of the mystery out and that was a huge aspect of the book.
@@cosmicmaster1006 I think HBP was the worst adaptation. I was really disappointed with Goblet as an adaptation, but I still enjoyed it more as a movie than I did DH1.

personally to me 5, 6, 7a and 7b all run together and i barly know whats going on in them all kinda seem the same
This movie was the beginning of forgoing plot for light shows and special effects...OotP is my favorite book and the movies cut out more than half of the plot to make the fight at the ministry bigger...i was so dissappointed and upset to not see the OWLs test and all the sparing matches between Mcgonagall and Umbridge :(
