- This Scottish slow air is a fairly well known Scottish pipe tune, but I learned it from the fiddle playing of Lauren MacColl. It's a beautiful lament, which fits well on the fiddle.
I've put a basic score on my website:

Slow airs are played with a more fluid sense of rhythm and tempo that tunes such as jigs or reels, which are intended for dancing.
But I should say, that transcribing a slow air or lament is a strange business, since so much of the playing of the tune is individual interpretation, variation, ornamentation and so on. The essential tune at its core is very simple, but learning to play slow airs means finding your own interpretation of the tune, which is best done by listening to what others have done with it, and then trying things out for yourself! I hope that helps.
This slow air goes by other names too, including Lament for Macgregor o' Ruari. Видеоклипы
