    The dealership tech unplugged my dashcam when they worked on my car. I guess they had something to hide in the service bay.

    Chevy in my town told me my wife's car needed a new cat. I only brought it in due to a CEL which resulted to be covered under a recall. When I picked it up they said the light won't turn off because my cat is bad. Cleared the code (same code for the recall) and 2 months later the light hasn't come back on. They really tried to scam me out of 1700.00.

    Do not EVER take your car to a dealership for anything other than complimentary services, recalls, or warranty work. They create problems that don't exist and they charge you triple what you could get it done for anywhere else.

    This is good thing to know about dealership service. Now, I know how to get them back because this is their doing my toyota rav4. It took them almost a week before they fixed my car just tire rotation

  • @rsmith317
    @rsmith317 Год назад +6

    Went to a chevrolet dealership here in Maryland for oil change and tire rotation and they told me my 2014 Malibu needed new lug nuts and they couldn’t remove my current lugs nuts because they “expanded in size” due to the heat and they couldn’t fit their socket on the lug nut. So in theory, that means that I would have difficulty in removing the lugs nuts. WRONG! The next day I was able to EASILY remove the lugs nuts myself and I ended up replacing them with lug nuts from autozone. This is one of the many many lies I have dealt with at a dealerships.

    • @tommak6516
      @tommak6516 Год назад +5

      If there really was no problem with the lug nuts, why did you replace them?

      If or when this lug nut issue arises, it’s usually mechanics that use the wrong size sockets combined with air impact wrenches.

    Bottom line here is that dealership service advisors and mechanics are NOT INCENTIVIZED to care about quality and honesty. Service writers are incentivized to sell (as they are compensated on commission) and the mechanics are incentivized to get the work done quickly with no regard for anything else (as they are paid on flat rate, e.g. paid by the job). Until these compensation structures change, people will continue to feel ripped off and scammed by the dealerships.
    I say this because I was a former dealership mechanic for 10 years. I was quite a competent mechanic, but quit because I was not compensated fairly (paid by the job, I was paid $20 per hour when the dealer charged $125). My paycheck fluctuated weekly, between 20-30 hours (when I worked for 40). I said screw this trade, went to college to do something else. Good mechanics leave the industry and primarily poor mechanics remain.

    Car dealer service depts are worse than going to the dentist or dmv. I'm sitting here right now 2 and 1/2 hours into waiting on my "scheduled" oil n filter change. Painful...

    This makes perfect sense. I brought my car in for air conditioner last summer they told me I needed all of these other things done breaks and a few others. Chose not to fix air conditioner that day and within that week there was a leak and caused way more damage and I had to get insurance involved. That was in sept. Didn’t need it for winter and by the time spring came it wasn’t working again. $500 later and now I’m here 3 rd time. 2nd time since April. They are not fixing the problem and I’ve spent about$4000 at Subaru dealership.

    Because the monthly nut to support the service department is ridiculously high - That is why they do it. Warrantee work covered by the manufacturer pays only a very small amount. If the manufacturers were fair it wouldn't cost consumer so much. It's the manufacturers fault.

    I took my 2016 lexus is 300 to the lexus dealership to get a oil change. It was at the end of the day on Friday. I asked if they could squeeze me in. It takes 0W-20. It's very hard to see when new. Checking it at home it was dark. I thought maybe my motor is racking up the miles and now looks a little darker. No... My next oil change was back to very light /hard to see on the dipstick. They actually never changed my oil. Completely shocking coming from our biggest local lexus dealership. I did tell management my experience. Not sure if they did anything about it

    They then charge you full genuine parts prices
    What a complete rip off
    Also Formula One who charged £90 for a brake disc which they got at Europarts next door to them for £16.99p after Unchecked up on the price I also seen the disc manafacturer name on their receipt -two and two makes four

    Im.a service advisor that has a CSI score of 1000. Which is perfect btw..why do i have this score? Because i do not lie to my customers, i do nit charge matrix pricing to my customers..i charge list, i use all data time and wave the diag fee if a repair is done. Don't put all of us in the same category..thats extremely unfair. Also, you lied about the service advisor pay..I Am ON A SALARY. I do not SELL anything..a repair sales itself.

    Warranty time is not manufacturer time fyi. It’s warranty time, which is half the time of book time. Way to lead on people to think that warranty time is a proper time.
