Just a couple of things to say. Boom, that combover looks pretty good on you. 👌 This movie was going head to head with Zootopia by being released in that exact same year and as you can imagine, it was the winner of the Oscars while Moana was a nominee. Still, it’s a true honor to have your name being immortalized in a once-in-a-lifetime experience in entertainment history. Everything from this is astounding. The fact that they took the Pixar route by making this film accurate as possible to the Polynesian culture down to the minute detail is extraordinary. Even the hair as Eric mentioned was created to be soft, smooth and silky because to the Pacific Islander people, it represents their spiritual connection to the land and the sea with their hair flowing like the wind itself. It also fascinating that yes, Dwayne Johnson has come a long way from being a WWE champion to being one the most celebrated actors in Hollywood. Since he’s Samoan, it was pretty fitting that he was cast in this project. The soundtrack that Boom mentioned is very good and uplifting, especially in that sequence where Maui was relearning his abilities from his hook and, with the songs written by Lin Manuel-Miranda, it made all the difference. On a side note, about turning into a bird would be exhilarating. So much so that if I could choose which form to take, it would be an osprey since it is a pescatarian that fishes all bodies of water, fresh and salt. I also would like to be a barn owl because that owl in particular has always captivated me, primarily for their glamorous appearance. I’d be happy either way. Watching those scenes with Moana’s grandmother reminds me of the time when I also lost mine; due to cerebral stroke. Hard to believe that today marks 3 1/2 years since that happened. No matter where I am in the world, she’s never far away because I have my heart and soul to carry the memories of her every day. I’ll see her again, in the next life. I believe that. 🥲
When it comes to the hair, pretty sure it was for Tangled that they came up with a new way to animate it given that hair is such a big focus of that movie. From Tangled onward, great animated hair is consistent in Disney 🤣
It's amazing watching this knowing it wasn't released not that long ago. And just going "Wow. Disney used to care not that long ago". That's over with now
Maui is a big figure in Polynesian myth he’s basically what if you mix Loki and Heracles into one character, can be referred to as the trickster, the fishermen and the Demi god(even tho technically he’s the child of two gods in some versions). I went into this movie knowing the actual myths and props on them finding a way to PG-fy them cause no way you can do story 1-1 in a pg setting. “Lassoed the sun” that’s only half the truth, In the myth the sun ran so fast across the sky that barely any day work could be done so Maui had the casual idea of ‘what if we wait for the sun to wake up…AND THEN WE JUMP HIM AND CRIPPLE HIS ASS SO HE HAS TO MOVE SLOW!’💀
I love Moana's development, but Maui's personal growth was amazing. From being such a vain, self-absorbed, borderline narcissistic demigod to becoming a kind-hearted and loving friend and mentor is awesome, plus hearing Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson sing is pretty damn badass. I love how they cast Nicole Scherzinger (lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls) as Moana's mother.

Not only was that the reindeer from Frozen, but earlier in the movie when she's loading the boat, you see a carrot and two sticks... and maybe two stones, I would have double check that bit.
Just a couple of things to say. Boom, that combover looks pretty good on you. 👌
This movie was going head to head with Zootopia by being released in that exact same year and as you can imagine, it was the winner of the Oscars while Moana was a nominee.
This is gonna be awesome, Moana is my favourite movie from Disney 🌊☀️
35:25 - My favorite part of this Movie. Even the Ocean was tired of Hei Hei! (lol)
🤣🤣🤣
Fun fact: Due to branding issues, Moana was changed to Viana overseas in Europe
When it comes to the hair, pretty sure it was for Tangled that they came up with a new way to animate it given that hair is such a big focus of that movie. From Tangled onward, great animated hair is consistent in Disney 🤣
42:18 Boom: "I'm just saying; Would."
I mean, better Te Fiti than Hine-nui-te-pō, am I right?
Its definitely my favorite disney film of the modern era.
Yall gotta be my favourite reaction channel rn! I hope you do more Disney movies :)
It's amazing watching this knowing it wasn't released not that long ago. And just going "Wow. Disney used to care not that long ago". That's over with now
I’m Hawaiian. That’s it.
The word "tattoo" comes from the tap-tap-tap rhythm of those tools while they pierce skin.
44:21 hei hei:i want to be with you
ocean:nah get out
Maui is a big figure in Polynesian myth he’s basically what if you mix Loki and Heracles into one character, can be referred to as the trickster, the fishermen and the Demi god(even tho technically he’s the child of two gods in some versions).
The chicken is no thoughts just vibes 😂
Fun fact, the turtle that Moana saved was the turtle crush from finding Nemo when he was a little kid because all Pixar movies are connected
I remain adamant that a big orchestral version of "How Far I'll Go" should be played for the launch of Earth's first interstellar vessel.
(At 22:40) At least now I know where "Deadpool" stole this song from.
I'm ready to laugh and cry with the boys when I get home in about 2 hours. 💜 Believe me, there will be tears. 😢
What a duo to react to this they're gonna love it! YOU'RE WELCOME!
40:26: HA! XD
This movie is in my top 5 Disney since I watched it in Theatures for the first time.
Its just a good feel good movie.
Moana is the best "strong independent women" Disney has every written, AND IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Hope ruff is okay
Just an FYI. When they first marketed this they made a roughly life-sized toy Hei-Hei that recreates the screaming scene.
