    You can simplify the sushi logic by dividing the clock signal by 16 and having the belts enable on =0,1,2,3 of that signal. No need to partition the belt networks and only needs 1 combinator (+2 for the clock) I'd post a factoriobin but I think youtube ate my last comment because of that.

      Oh nice! This is cool. Yeah, RUclips doesn’t allow links in comments. If you want, you can post a blueprint string, though, and *I* can post a link to a factoriobin (the video creator is apparently allowed to post links).

      @@mysticfishgames Sure! Well let's see what RUclips's opinion on large base64 strings in comments is :)

      @@mysticfishgames So either youtube is wonky for me rn or it doesn't like big base64 blob in comments either, which wouldn't shock me.
      Anyway I think the concept clear enough that an illustration isn't strictly neccessary.

      Yeah, it is definitely wonky. I find if I reply to them then they show up. The trick is knowing that they are there to reply to them! In general, if you post it, then a second reply without a link or base64 string, then I will get a notification. :)
      P.S. Time division multiplexing for the aesthetic win!

  • @johnydl
    @johnydl Месяц назад

    You could get a little extra efficiency by putting all the unused RGBMYW onto the 4th half belt, it won't be perfect with military but if you've done the calcs for the lab usage based off 1/2 belt speed anything that doesn't get picked up slows the labs. I'd go for default to the second half of the white fall back to remixing with the supply.
    I also don't think there's any harm with combining the priority splitter with the first split in 1/2 so long as you tweak your cycles to be out of sync -> So if set 1 has belt 1 going, set 2 would have belt 2, set 3 would have belt 3 and set 4 would have belt 4. then you cycle them in the same order as right now, since you would never have a point at which the two different outout belts needing supply at the same time you don't have to worry about overpulling from the supply and backing up the recycle.

    Wow! Awesome implementation! Does this still work when researching something that doesn't use all the sciences? I think there is an infinite science that doesn't use military science. Does this handle that ok?
    Edit: I realize what the science you were researching for the whole video is now 😆

    • @mysticfishgames
      @mysticfishgames  Месяц назад +2

      Hahaha! Yep. Actually almost all of the infinite researches use only 6 sciences each-most use either purple science or black science, but not both. The only exception is the follower robot count, which uses all 7 sciences. But this is the point of the stress test we did where we turn off the research, and *everything* is left over. It shows we can use any subset of the available sciences-including none at all-without clogging.
      The nice thing about the way the loader works with the cycling belt enablement is that it works regardless of how many science types we have coming in or what relative throughputs they have.

    Why not simply count how many of each colour is currently consumed (inserter to wire) and load only the one to the incoming (wired) belt which are needed?

    • @mysticfishgames
      @mysticfishgames  Месяц назад +1

      Yes, that's the "memory cell" approach to sushi belts (wiki.factorio.com/Tutorial:Circuit_network_cookbook#Memory_Cell_Design). I've certainly done builds that way (see this playlist, which took it to the extreme: ruclips.net/p/PLiTfFs6On5vPvG2KEHQcQmT5E_hu9H5ac&si=7Da2X-mLgBxOw8DA).
      I wanted to try things this way, because science is special in that the science packs get consumed at the same rate, and we already know what the max rate is, so we can just go ahead and stream things in at that rate. One of the downsides of the memory cell approach is that you have to consider belt delay, which can be hard to calculate because the different labs are different distances from the input science belts.
      But really, I also like the way the "rainbow" sushi belt looks, and it was fun to design. :)

      in my humble wisdom quite the same could be achieved by a "traditional" calc use.

      Well, it’s all equivalent math, and the circuit network is pretty general purpose, so there’s always multiple ways to accomplish something. For me, I guess it was being exposed to number theory in college and, weird as it now seems to say it, when I think of counting from 1 to 64 (or more accurately, 0 to 63) over and over again, it seems natural to me to think in terms of “mod 64”.
