Sadly, my son passed away in January, he was only 24. I have an hour commute to work every day and I don't think I could have done it these last few months without this podcast❤❤ My son and I had the pleasure of seeing the BAND at Bridgestone last year and I am so grateful for that memory with him and for all of you. Your sincere love of stand-up, your fans, each other, and life in general has made the unendurable bearable and you are truly the highlight of my week! PS - This episode was an instant classic!
My wife is 39 weeks pregnant and we to Nate’s special in Phoenix Sunday night. Cut to three hours after the show and we’re at the hospital getting ready for our baby girl to come. If that ain’t the most folks thing, I don’t know what is. Amazing special Nate, so proud for you!
I may be wrong but I think the joke was to imply that those two are the "sinners" of the group and would be left behind. Good lowkey joke but will be lost on a lot of people.
My son is a freshman at Murray Sate down in Western Kentucky. On eclipse day, I texted him a reminder not to look at the sun and asked him to let me know where he landed for the event. A little later, I get a photo of his leg and a few friends on a football field. He texts: in Paducah at friend's high school. Next text reads: I just met Nate's dad. Next text: a photo of him and his friends with Nate and John Crist. What are the chances?! Unbelievable!
P.S. When we finally got the chance to talk, my son said that Nate's dad did a trick for them. "Mom, the eclipse was pretty awesome. But the trick was even better."
I love how Crist and Warren is representing the dulaity of Dusty. Crist, questioning if the eclipse is real. Warren, saying that animals can feel the change and freak out. In almost 100 episodes I'm Dusty is an essential part of the band. Love this sode!
Thanks for letting us experience the eclipse through this outdoor episode. My friend told me she was going to buy hundreds of blowup dolls and fill them with helium and let them go during the eclipse so people would think it’s the rapture. 😎 Dusty you were missed !
The Great American Eclipse, or "The Day The Sun Got Mooned," as my son calls it, was 80% at my house. We wore the goofy glasses over top of our regular glasses, stood in the yard, and stared at the sun for way longer than recommended. At 80%, it just got about as dark as it does when a bad storm pops up after a whole day of clear skies. Thanks for taking the time to travel to Paducah for the podcast. I'm a fan from episode one, and Wednesday is my favorite day of the week because of y'all!
I am one of those that cried during the eclipse this year. I was in the path of totality in 2017 and was able to experience it with my large extended family. I lost 3 members of my family since then. This eclipse made me realize how grateful I was to share a rather rare occurrence with those I love. I will always remember it.
🥴 Had I not been with fellow office workers (my family passed on in 2022), I also would have flat-out cried. Instead, I merely choked up with brimming eyes. My Daddy and eldest big brother were big eclipse nerds back in 2017 and we could barely even see it from mid-Michigan... I looked back on the photos we took together and shared one via text with my precious SIL. The 2024 eclipse 'emotions' were completely unexpected and as I thought of the podcast where they were funning on the fact that some folks cry, I realized my snarky perspective had suddenly changed... 👍😢👍 🕶️🌘🌑🌒💔
Brick-a-brack was on POINT this episode! His seamless “this podcast comes out in two days” after Nate said everyone will be over the eclipse the day after…PERFECT🙌🏻😂
I will often tell my wife things I learn from the podcast. We live near Indianapolis which was one of the best cities to view the eclipse because it was in the path of 100% totality. After watching the podcast, I told her that I think the star we saw in the sky was actually Venus. She questioned this information and asked me for my sources, so I told her the Nateland Podcast and said I heard it from Nate, Aaron and Basement and I had to tell her that Basement meant Brian Bates. She immediately responded with "I've never heard of Brian Bates" but of course I had his back and shot back with "well he's never heard of you either."
So excited Nate wore his shirt and that the glasses came in handy! Also the production is amazing! Love the look of the pod. The effort and travel isn't wasted on me. Watching it gradually go dark was so neat!
I appreciate the effort you did for this week's episode. The logistics of moving all the gear and crew, not to mention recording a day later, ain't lost on me! Hay bare!
Still laughing about when Nate says Breakfast has a spotter on his back - then I realized he said spider. The eclipse podcast was a great idea and fun to watch it get dark. Love the podcast, have seen all 195 episodes. Keep up the great work!
As a hardcore comedian fan I can say Nate’s mostly right in saying comedians should stay away from old material. Even if you think most people haven’t heard it. Recently I heard a comic I discovered way back in the mid 90’s, and he told a joke that I remembered vividly from back then. It might have been new to a lot of the people who heard it now but I have to admit I was slightly disappointed that for me it wasn’t new material. I’ve encountered this with quite a few comics that I’ve followed for years, so I truly admire comics like Nate that put in the work to always be fresh and new. As always love you guys in the Nateland world. - Amy Gilden
Hearing Aaron respond to Nate’s phone reference saying “which one do you use more?” And everyone immediately responding “the sun.” I cackled at that. A great humbling moment for the smart guy.
When Nate said he would be 65 at the next eclipse and Aaron responding with "you'd be the same age as Brian now" didn't get the attention it deserved. Hilarious!
Two of my sons are named Benjamin and Nathaniel, their names were inspired by two of our most favorite celebrities: Ben Rector and Nate Bargatze. When my wife and I heard the discussion about Nate golfing with Ben, it was worlds colliding and we were both immediately jealous that we weren’t part of the group! Talk about a dream day on the course! To add another layer, my oldest son is named Theodore but we’ve always call him Bear as a nickname. So we always get a joy out of the Hey Bear to open the show!
I was just rewatching The Salesman last night so it’s a treat to see ol’ War Dog back on Nateland. And John Crist is back! Happy belated birthday, John! My question is: Was Dusty afraid to come to work today because of the Eclipse or is he mad at John?
ECLIPSE! I love how y’all were talking about UFC and Bingo pronounced Jamahal Hill wrong and Nate corrected him by saying, “I think it’s just Jamal!” Between that and y’all roasting John Crist again without inviting Dusty, this was another great episode!
I was in TX and in the path of totality, Austin area. When it got dark, I was outside with my two dogs - they were sleeping on the grass, totally unfazed by anything, even when it got dark...I did hear a cricket briefly during the totality but not much else. Love your podcast, very cool you did a show during the eclipse!
I love how Aaron will roast someone and then say "I wish them well." Or like this episode where he kind of shrugs off the eclipse and then says, "I'm glad we did this." Makes me laugh every time!
I saw Greg Warren in Columbia, MO in April. I told my husband that I call him the 5th comic on Nateland! He was great that night. I’m seeing Dusty in a not-theater in St Louis on May 31st. I need Boo-boo Bates and Aaron to come to Stl so I can get all the BAND+g in one year! Hoping to get tickets for Nate this summer. LOVE you all!
“Which one do you use more often?” “The sun.” Brian, you are the quickest witted person on this podcast and do not get credit for it. Well done sir! 😂😂😂 CONGRATS, Aaron and Lucy!! So excited for y’all!
The eclipse episode should've been out last week haha so I could give my 3rd and 5th grade students all Bates' facts. Then this week watch the whole eclipse as part2. I love you guys. You really are educational.
15:35 Bagpipe: “Venus doesn’t have a moon.” Nate: “So Venus is just light all the time?” Nate just voicing the assumption that we basically have an eclipse every single night and that’s why it gets dark. I love this podcast so much.
Hello. My name is Donna. I’m 66 and I just found out I have hitchhiker’s thumb! Wow! This is not only an educational podcast, but also now falls in the medical category. We’ve been watching since the first one. Loved the Eclipse sode. Greg and Crist are favs, but missed Dusty.
Hello Folks! I've been a day-1 Folk. I've suffered all of Nates rants, Bangkok's nose whistling, and AaronLand. It brought a joyous tear to my eye to find there will be a little Weber (like the grill). Knowing y'all's luck, it'll be another girl to add to the list. So happy for the Nateland crew growing one more Folk! Love y'all and excited to see y'all live!
Hello Folks, just wanted to tell you all how much I look forward to Wednesdays to laugh with you all. I would imagine with your traveling schedules your wives are saints for handling the home front when you have to travel. Do you find an actual weekend at home is a treat… or do you feel like you are in the way? My husband works late hours and when he would come home early it would completely throw off the nighttime routine. Long time listener, first time ever writing into anything. Thanks for making my Wednesdays amazing !
My high school had to play Paducah every year in basketball. This was a million times more exciting than any trip I ever made to Paducah. Good stuff fellas!
@@nicklaird501 oh cool, I went to land between the lakes back in 2018, went water skiing with a friend and rented a lake house. Had a great time. I hope to return one day.
Not having Dusty on this episode is a tragedy. Also, Nate mentioned he expected New York style traffic, we experienced that HARD in Missouri. I am from St. Louis and we traveled south to Cape Girardeau for the eclipse. This is usually about 1hr 45 mins each way. Due to the traffic, we were on the road for over 4 hours on the way home. My in-laws were with us but left about 5 mins before us and they stuck for over 6 hours.
“No one can carry the weight of what Dusty brings to the table” was so funny! i always miss dusty, i don’t understand why he gets so much hate. He’s the reason i even started listening to the podcast. I was already a Nate fan, but, in 2022 the snippets on instagram with Dusty made me laugh and had me wanting to get more context. From there I started episode one and I’m so glad i did!
Hello folks! I was shocked to hear that John Crist had never had anyone comment on his thumbs. I too have distal hyperextensibility so much so that my thumbs go back into 90 degree angles. People’s reactions when seeing them are always entertaining, but y’all’s reactions to John’s are by far the best. I’m a CPA and have listened to hours of you guys over the last few weeks while trying to get through the busy season of tax returns. Thanks for all the laughs!
I love how Greg Warren assumed they invited him to the eclipse party, but wouldn't have glasses for him. Nateland Fam is low budget, but come on Greg, Safety first!😂 Side note! I freaking love your AD reads! All the other podcasts seem to record them, and you can tell so it feels like a commercial and we are supposed to tune out. But with live AD reads, you never know what you are going to get! Congrats Aaron! Counseling and parenting go hand in hand! Fully support that connection😂
Aaron said that they could have watched it from a Chick-fil-a. In 2017 I drove about an hour north of Atlanta to watch the totality. I actually watched it from the parking lot of Hardees in Cleveland, TN. I wasn't the only one watching from there either. It was definitely cool, though. It was like there was a hole in the sky.
I keep reading that people are concerned about animals freaking out during the eclipse. I just watched my dogs, goats, cats, chicken's and guineas literally not react at all to the eclipse, just a bunch of grazing goats and napping dogs
Hello Folks, from beautiful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina! I would love to have Nate and the rest of the cast for a great dinner at The Hook and Barrel. I work there as a hostess making reservations and taking care of guests. We are the golf capital of the world and have Amazing courses that Nate would love! Y’all keep it going , I am a big fan of the show. Much love, Ashley
❤CONGRATULATIONS Aaron!!! That’s awesome!! My middle son is an October 19th and he is the best!!❤ Great show guys, hope Dusty survived the eclipse!!❤😂🎉
Bjorn Johnson Hey folks and Hey Bear! My name means Bear in Norwegian so I feel like you’re saying hello at the beginning of every podcast! I was listening to old podcasts and came across the animal fights episode. I’ve actually fought a bear and won while living in the North woods of Minnesota. True story. Terrifying experience
I know it is probably long past, but no way you bomb for the high school kids. You took peanut butter and Pringles and had me on the edge on my seat for over an hour, to the point that I get excited when I see someone with Pringles. I'll look at the can every time and go "Ahh, yeah, right there, they're crisps."
Nate's memory of the eclipse last time was likely affected by being surprised AND he was better positioned to hear the insects. This time was clearly bound to be rather anticlimactic with such planning and anticipation not to mention the deeply wrongheaded decision to watch in the center of a football field on artificial turf. It would have been much better to have just walked out into someone's backyard right before it happened where they would have heard the insects and even potentially neighborhood dogs.
With y’all mentioning March Madness - I’m a YP and our youth group has been doing March Madness brackets for different edible items. It’s carried on and is still going, so now it’s April Madness… but we vote every Sunday on the top 8 of the following categories (winners in parenthesis): Beverages (Sweet Tea), Candy (Reese’s), pizza location (Little Caesars), ice cream flavor, little Debbie’s, chips, cereal. Y’all should follow suit on the podcast.
hey bear! i am a junior in highscool and an absolute fan of the podcast! me and my family went to nate’s special taping in phoenix this last weekend! such a great show, Nate and his opener were amazing. can’t wait to see it out on netflix again. when should we expect to see it out?
John Crist giving 2 thumbs up looks like he’s using an uno reverse card. It’s probably why dusty didn’t get invited to his party they couldn’t tell if he was giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
I think it’s pretty obvious why Dusty isn’t here for this week’s episode dealing with both outer space and John Crist, so it makes sense they didn’t explain where he was. The comment from Nate on John and Greg finishing out the pod post rapture was HILARIOUS. thanks for providing a lot of laughs per the usual.
"Are they shooting off fireworks? ...Were still in Kentucky." 😂 from a kentucky native, thats funny! My wife got us tickets in Lexington May 10th for the show Nate, see you then.
Nate, I love that you think the St.X vs Trinity football game in Louisville KY sells out Cardinal Stadium 😂 It is your optimism that I love. We do love our high school sports but unfortunately that game has never been a “sellout” at that stadium. But it is usually a very exciting game 🏈! You should come watch one and then we can play golf at my clubs Valhalla and Hurstbourne Country Club ⛳️. Enjoy Master’s Week
I'm gone for one episode and you guys are wearing shirts from NASA???? C'mon Guys!
They’re having a good time 👋🏿
The podcast falls apart without you!!!!
😆
It feels wrong considering how much you bring to this show, but this was a great episode
I would have a hard time wearing a shirt that depicts the serpent tongue.
I scored two touchdowns on that field in 1987. You guys being there for the eclipse is the second greatest thing that’s ever happened there.

That field did not exist in 1987

Dang, another eclipse show. So fed up with this old eclipse thing. Been two days. Hahaha kidding, great show guys!
Been listening to Dustys playlist on Spotify and I love it! Guy really knows how to get down in the dumps! haha
I love how Greg Warren assumed they invited him to the eclipse party, but wouldn't have glasses for him. Nateland Fam is low budget, but come on Greg, Safety first!😂
Side note!
1:06:06 congratulations Aaron!!
I like the out in a field vibe.
Uh mazing!!! Best Nateland ever!
We were in Salem IL at a park watching the eclipse, We were having a great time folks!!! What a show!! , keep it up boyz,, MJ Westmont IL
Awesome episode 😮
This was awesome!
Loved this! 😂
Bjorn Johnson
Hey folks and Hey Bear!
Breakfast had Nate help him with pronunciation of names..not once, but twice! 😂 Wow!
Wow. I’m catching up and lo and behold … the guys are in my dad’s home town and hanging at his high school. A heads up would have been nice 😂
"Dusty won't be there? I'm in."
-John Crist
Congratulations papa Aaron! 🎉
The change in lighting at 33:16 made y'all look like angels 😇😂
The Sun: "The Moon and the Earth keep getting closer, I stay in the saaaame place. Alright, alright, alright!"
Out of all the people at the table Breakfast asks Nate for help reading a name. That’s too funny!!
Nate, I love that you think the St.X vs Trinity football game in Louisville KY sells out Cardinal Stadium 😂
It is your optimism that I love. We do love our high school sports but unfortunately that game has never been a “sellout” at that stadium. But it is usually a very exciting game 🏈! You should come watch one and then we can play golf at my clubs Valhalla and Hurstbourne Country Club ⛳️. Enjoy Master’s Week
