A 3D animation of the U.S. Air Force's stealth bomber "B-2 Spirit" bomb bay or weapons bay.
The rotary launcher is equipped with a 16× GBU-31 2,000 lb JDAM.
The two bomb bays can carry a variety of other weapons.
2× Massive Ordinance Penetrator (GBU-57).
80× 500 lb bombs (Mk-82, GBU-38) mounted on Bomb Rack.
16× 2,000 lb bombs (Mk-84, GBU-31), 16× nuclear bombs (B61, B83), 16× Standoff Missiles (AGM-154, AGM-158) mounted on Rotary Launcher.

I thought it drops the bombs alternating from one revolver to the other so it doesn't get unbalanced 😅
I'm almost certain that in real life that would be the case. I think the bombs dropped from only one drum for the purposes of the animation, to show what a full drum would look like, and how it would rotate when full of bombs.
Ideally it would. But then it depends what ordnance is loaded (it could have several different types of weapons). Ot which bomb is programmed for what target.
Irrelevant. Modern fly by wire should be able to take care of the unbalance as long as the airframe was designed with enough control authority.
@@death_parade you still dont want lateral asymmetry or CG too far forward or aft. It takes away margins and increases drag as the flt control surfaces have to be at a position other than neutral or less than ideal to correct.
But yea it would probably be fine but is still avoided. Lateral asymmetry can increase probabof a spin as well.

GREAT info on B2. I never realized the B2 has 4 engines, not 2. General Electric F-118-GE-100 jet engines, each of which generates 17,300 pounds of thrust. Also, never realized B2 has 2 rotary Bomb racks (side by side), I thought it had 1. B2 is an amazing aircraft that was years ahead of it's time.

I wonder if bombs should be released alternatively from racks to keep the cg in the middle? If one rack is all released, there would be a huge imbalance in the aircraft, imagine 8*2000 lbs bombs are just gone :P

It’s called H-20, and no, it will not use the rotary bomb rack of the B-2 as this method of deployment is too slow and exposes the bomber to radar for too long. It will carry cruise missiles, spam stand-off weapons and leave, risking a stealth bomber inside enemy territory with short range weapons like bombs makes no sense.

I have tech on the B1, specifically including rotatory launcher control. Design is to fail operational, not fail safe. If it is commanded to move, it will. In commercial, failing safe is chosen. USA really does build some awesome tech. Thanks for your channel

I dont think the real bird is emptying the rotary launchers this way... Releasing all load on one side and then on the other side would lead to a lot of trimming. I think it releases one left, one right, one left, one right... and so on.

What are those fins at 1:13 as the bomb bays open?
Buffer plates, to create turbulence, so that the bombs have a smoother transition between the static air inside the bay and the high speed airflow outside the plane. Smooth air (laminar airflow) would create a "wall" that each bomb would impact on release.

Реальный функцианал В-2, не выше древнего Ту-95, только стоит он более чем в 100 раз больше, а его малозаметность от радаров, работает недостаточно хорошо.
Не знаю, может это глупая идеея, но мне кажется, что лучше приспосабливать обычные транспортные самолёты, для запуска дальнобойх ракет, с безопасного растояния.

I think it empties it's bomb bays in a slightly different manner. Probably it tries to keep balance by keeping weight in both bays roughly equal instead of empting one of them and shifting the center of gravity off the longinudonal axis.

i don't understand, why use mechanically intensive rotary bomb racks instead of hoppers and chutes that can effectively use the whole space and hold more bombs
Just think how strong each one of the bomb holding carousels has to be. Each one holds about 30,000lbs of freedom & democracy.

If its a serious fighting gun, then you shouldn't risk light primer strikes just because your little hands aren't strong enough to operate a heavy trigger.
