It was pretty obvious whose “being a living paradox” deal was superior between Black and Thawne. Black is only one so long as he has the Time Ring (technically making his living paradox status temporary) while Thawne’s is far more permanent and has no such flaw. Combine this with Thawne’s naturally superior speed and high level of intelligence, and it was clear he was gonna figure out how to deal with Black’s paradoxical existence long before Black could figure out how to do the same to him.
