A couple of thoughts/suggestions. Firstly for the older “vintage classics” how about Revell Revival kits? Secondly the boxes. You could keep the side opening boxes and put a second plain top opening box (or even open topped) inside. Arma Hobby do this on some of the kits I have seen. Just my two cents!
There is one thing that needs sorting out at Revell and I know I'm not alone in this,it's the bloody boxes.Their end opening boxes are a reason to not buy, they are awful, sort them out and I would consider buying Revell kits
I agree: Flimsy box = no sale. I bought the SR-71 recently. It came in a proper box. So, they can do it! Seems we have to pay for good boxes considering the price of the kit.
I agree, though not all of the kits come in side open boxes thankfully. Maybe they got the idea from Matchbox when they brought them as Matchbox loved their side opening boxes.
Top opening boxes and HONESTY about the age of the kit within. Give us pilots in natural poses and a clear stand so we can pose our aeroplanes in their environment....flight.
Nice interview Gary and its good to see Luke's enthusiasm when discussing forthcoming kits, ideas and hopes for the future. As he says, for him its still early days. All I would say to Revell is this..... TOP OPENING BOXES PLEEEEEASE!!!! Those dated end opening ones just collapse 😢. They do'nt need to be the same quality and design of ICM boxes, just please use a slightly more rigid construction and go for top openers. 🙏
Terrific interview. 😀 Luke seems excited, and looks to have given Revell a fresh outlook; it's been good to see their recent videos on YT, and hearing about their new projects...👍🏻
Hi. Thanks for the vid. Sounds like Luke is getting the modellers perspective back into the Revell camp. Well done. They do some nice stuff so it's good to hear that they will stop issuing the bad, older kits. (Italeri should pay attention!). I've made my own thick cardboard trays for some Revell kits so I can stack them safely. (I cut up old shipping boxes). They just slide in from one end and make the box far more rigid. Surely Revell could do something similar for minimal cost? Cheers 🦘
Matt, I think Luke is acutely aware of the box issue. He asked a few of us YT creators what we thought of Revell just after he joined and I think the box issue loomed very large indeed!
On the Hunter T.7 fuselage, tool up a plug and a jig to cut the hole then leave it up to the modeler if they want to install it or not. The one’s that don’t care won’t use the plug, while the ones who want to make their model as accurate as possible will use it. Highlight it in the instructions as an optional step.
Thank you Gary & Luke, having been build kits for quite a long time, and Revell kits have had their moments of variable quality, I'm sure with likes obvious enthusiasm will hopefully the quality will improve across the board, one thing they could do and it would certainly help with the modeler top opening box, look at ICM!!!
I wish Revell well and hope they can continue to further develop product. My build experience with a few of their recent kits has not been what I hoped for. From that I can't help but think for the kits I put together, Revell should be legally obliged to add the word, 'meh' placed between the R and the L, Helvetica font beige in colour on the box logo. Each sprue and the instructions would have a m for meh to the left of the sprue/part letter designator. This would clarify what to expect like the skill number rating.
Great interview Gary, really informative and lots to look forward to. Luke if you read this message then your correct and reading the market, a 1/32 Harrier GR3, Lightning F6, Buccaneer and definitely a Phantom would all be winners with fully detailed engines, weapon load out and 3D printed pilots. Great to hear the progress being made. My final wish would be for a fully detailed Artemis capsule and given the time scale would work perfect for the moon landings coming shortly. Best wishes and look forward to forthcoming kits. 😊
Being Ex Army living since 92 in Germany i do see alot of Revell. Plus i only live 30mins drive from Revell in Bünde. They do have there ups and downs but a good selection of subjects. Not just WW2.
Good things seem to be developing with Luke’s short time with Revell, it’s sounding quite promising. I would have appreciated that with his personal wish list, the Sepecat Jaguar might also have got a mention in 48th and/or 32nd. Great stuff though, thanks Gary and Luke.
I think the big thing for purchasers is /honesty/ about the age of the box contents. Playing Russian Roulette with the age of what's in the box is /NOT/ good enough. Also as a few people commented the boxes. Even if the purchaser doesn't stack them the manufacturer, courier(s), and retailer /will/ so they need to be /robust/. Flimsy end opening boxes are not.
Really positive sounding video. Revell have a good guy with Luke. I hope they give him all the support he needs to (re)develop the modelling side of Revell. Quality and accuracy, the box I can wait for, I’ve plenty of other empty model boxes to use !
Great interview Gary, really enjoy seeing Luke’s passion and commitment to improve and develop Revell’s business. I fir one would be happy with a plug and play adaptation to the original hunter fuselage, a little alteration work is all part of the fun. I will happily volunteer to build the test shot of the T7 for Revell😜😁
Great interview and Im looking forward to the Hunter T.7! I dont suppose a 1/72 version for those of us who are "spatially challenged" be a future release? I think the only "proper" kit version available is the old Matchbox kit you built Gary?
If I get the 32nd Hunter, changing the vents will not be an issue for me, IF I decide to do it. It would be great if instructions/drawings/parts would be included for this.
Lovely interview Gary - a 1/32 Jaguar GR1 / GR3 / GR3A in 6 Sqn / 41 Sqn / 54 Sqn markings would be delightful...... Winterised / Wraparound / Desert Cats schemes would be my choices - just sayin'!
Please can you keep the old 1/76 scale former Matchbox vehicle kits in production. I buy these when I can get them. The large dioramas I have in the works need a lot of vehicles and these kits are essential for their versatility and variants covered
Obviously couldnt do what he wanted to when he was at Airfix.....even though its not a scale i build i WILL be getting that Hunter so i have it WHEN i get the space to display it

Good interview, Luke sounds as if he has found his niche and has some very interesting plans. Thank you to both of you.
Really good interview - at last something worth listening to. Better than BBC.
Top opening boxes and HONESTY about the age of the kit within. Give us pilots in natural poses and a clear stand so we can pose our aeroplanes in their environment....flight.
Great interview with Luke from Revell Gary! I look forward to the Hunter and Meteor! Pleased to hear that Revell are looking at the box issue
Thanks for this interview Gary and Luke for his time. Luke's passion is clear to see and his vision for the future of Revell sounds great.
100% agree

Honesty and passion. Winning combination.

Oh dear lord - a 1:32 Jaguar dropping out of the magic money tree please
Great interview I also had a long chat with Luke great guy who tried his best to engage with everybody

Looks like Luke is gonna change a lot of our opinions on Revell, best of luck, but sort the boxes 😀

The decision to re-release the old Matchbox 1/72 Lynx at £17 odd quid was a bizarre one.. probably decided before Luke arrived, but it's horrendous...

a series of all the planes ot the Navy after WW II in 1/32 would be great

Nice interview.
In answer to Luke's question, I like alteration work with the condition that it is very clearly diagrammed and parts are supplied.
Really positive sounding video.

If its a 30 year old kit in a rebox, put it on the box somewhere so i dont have to check scalemates constantly when im in a shop.
Proper boxes too
Thanks Gary and Luke

Join the queue for the T7 build!!!!! Should be an absolute gem.
I will most definitely be buying the hunter
A great video and great interview. I'm looking forward to the Hunter.

I wish good luck to Revell with the 1/32Hunter T-7..I have Revell’s 1/32 Hunter Mk.9 in my model mountain. So a T-7 would be great
Can we have the tooling date printed on the boxes in future please?
Lovely interview Gary - a 1/32 Jaguar GR1 / GR3 / GR3A in 6 Sqn / 41 Sqn / 54 Sqn markings would be delightful...... Winterised / Wraparound / Desert Cats schemes would be my choices - just sayin'!
YES, I will buy a 32nd F4 or Buccaneer, never mind the size...
Last comment: Is there any chance of a 32nd cannon-armed Hurricane (preferably MK IID) coming out in the next years?
Please can you keep the old 1/76 scale former Matchbox vehicle kits in production. I buy these when I can get them. The large dioramas I have in the works need a lot of vehicles and these kits are essential for their versatility and variants covered
Personally as the cost of kits rise, I would prefer to have engines as separate upgrade kits. I usually do my models in-flight.
1/72 Please
Any word on when the 1/72 Tornado twin pack is due?
more helicopters
When are they finally going to retire their ancient and horrible 1/72 P-51D? Even the old Matchbox kit would be a better alternative.
1/32 Jaguar please lol
Wunderwaffe kits back, great.
Roughly one a year going forward, I'm loving that!
Obviously couldnt do what he wanted to when he was at Airfix.....even though its not a scale i build i WILL be getting that Hunter so i have it WHEN i get the space to display it
B36 and hayford NOW
PM is never a dream job, too much stress 🙂
