Yup, at the end of this game, I will be doing a Half-Life 2 Discussion video (which will probably be my longest discussion video of any Half-Life game). There will also be discussion videos for the ends of Episode 1 and Episode 2, Portal and Portal 2. So, yeah, still a lot of Half-Life yet to do. :)

He actually doesn't get eaten - he elevates up through the barnicle and the bridge and appears on top of the bridge - you can see him rising on the video as the barnicle is "eating" him
This chapter sure was a hard one, glad to have your walkthroughs always here to help, especially with finding every little secret this game has to offer. One thing that I noticed that you missed was that when you go to open the damn near the end, just as you go around the red building, you can see the G Man waiting along the path that we take.
Right quick!! Cup of coffee Mr Big Mac Davies has put up another video!! Woop woop! Seriously though thank you for all your hard work I'm really going to enjoy watching this... 👌👌👌👊👍
this is the best walkthrough EVER. not only do you say what we have to do without it feeling like a drag BUT you also go into detail into things that a normal player would never find without it feeling like useless information, heck i would probally watch the version you have of the first half life for back ground context
Haha, oh yes, my friend, we certainly will. I think the Fast Headcrabs, especially in large groups, are the most annoying Headcrabs in the game. Like Lost Souls of Doom. :)
Eh. To me fast headcrabs are actually harder then the others. At least for the others they can't actually kill you. Fast headcrabs are annoying and irritating. Though Manhacks are still the worst enemy in Half Life 2. It's as if Valve played Doom and saw the Lost Souls and decided to make them worse.
*BigMacDavis* That comparison is pretty neat. Haha. But if flying option is included, like I said in the last time when we first encountered it, that award will go to the Manhacks. lol
Even though I've spent hundreds of hours playing this game over 15 years your pointing out little details and hidden locations I've never discovered before. That distant sneak peak at Ravenholm for example is something i hadn't noticed. That's like Dark Souls environmental foreshadowing long before that game even came out. Half Life 2 was truly ahead of its time and groundbreaking.
You are probably the best giver of walkthroughs for old-styled games especially Half-Life 2. This helped me so much. Thank you BigMacDavis. Regards, MCCF
Yup, Portal is planned! I'll do Half-Life 2, then Episode 1, then Portal, then Episode 2, and then Portal 2. And, hopefully by that point, Half-Life 3 will come out! But... that's really doubtful, haha. Other HL games I'll do are Decay, Uplink, Black Mesa, Opposing Force 2 (mod), and Project Borealis when it comes out. :)
Thank you for taking the time to create such comprehensive walkthroughs; reminds me of when I first played Half Life 2 campaign and combed through the levels playing with physics objects. One sillier note; at 1:22:52; if one is patient enough, they can stack boxes and barrels on the overturned van to get up on top of the concrete wall and be rewarded with a box of magnum bullets as well as a single leather boot; which then reveals a dead citizen on top of the "roof" opposite of the makeshift sleeping quarters. Makes me wonder how he ended up there... how did he meet his end? One thing I always enjoyed was that the map designers still rewarded the ones with maybe too much time on their hands. :P
I know, right? Someone else pointed out the Magnum bullets on that high ledge. It makes me wonder if Valve really intended anyone to find these ammo caches. In all the 14 years of playing this game, I never thought to build my way to that top ledge, even with my slight OCD making me want to find everything. If one DID manage to find it all, they'd never run out of ammo, haha. And yeah, in previous playthroughs of this game, I have indeed seen that dead citizen on top of that very high ledge. How in the hell did he get up there? Haha! :D

Only youtuber that can be watched happlily even if the videos are 113-minute long :)
I have a headcanon that headcrabs can only take over male humans; female humans will simply die. After all, every zombie model appears to be male. COINCIDENCE?! I mean, yeah, probably a coincidence. But this seems as reasonable explanation as any!
Loving the walkthrough btw small tips -you can shoot the items/pickables to move them -when your vehicle is below you, you just jump on it and spam the Use key and you wont take any falling damage and you will enter the vehicle Cant wait for more :)
1:06:52-1:07:50! Best part of the video! This chapter is downright crazy with all the Metrocops and the Hunter-Chopper chasing Gordon; it's my favorite chapter in Half-Life 2.
I guess what I like the most in these videos is how thoughtful you are about giving hints and information about the background history and the interpretation of the scenery and meaning of things. HL touches on deeper philosophical stuff than just mindlessly blowing up “enemies”. Somehow it reminds me of Visitors (1983). Freedom seems to be the ultimate goal. The Vourtigaunt monologue in the cave is telling and touching indeed. In the movie Bicentennial Man (based on Isaac Asimov's book), there is a scene where Endrew said this about freedom: “Terrible wars have been fought where millions have died for one idea: Freedom. And it seems that something that means so much to so many people would be worth having."
'other playthroughs you may have seen' -no, I deliberately held off on watching playthroughs of this game, because I knew you had it on your To-do list. Maybe if LBF had done one, but I think he was waiting for you to do the honours as well. Edit: 50:30 that guy flew Air Davis... lol.
My god...I had been playing this game over and over with a bunch of mods a long time ago. I had no knowledge about that vortigaunt cave. My mind has been completely blown. Thank you so much for showing us.
1:39:05 wow, I spend so much time trying to get them down with other methods. Really tried everything especially parkour. Thanks for solving this for me in this really well made and detailed video. This deserves a like
In all my practice runs that I did for this Chapter, I never once was able to capture him falling out of the Chopper THAT CLOSE to me. I am so thankful I was able to get that on film during an official recording, it was awesome! :)
BigMacDavis Do you know why there weren't any houndeye's or bullsquids in this game? There seem to be PLENTY of barnicles and headcrabs, and a new enemy (antlions).
Best walkthrough....ever!!! All those you do are. Best. One thing, near the end, in the area you killed the hunter chopper and there's the storage bldg. If you go around the bldg to the left instead of the right you can see the G-man on the cement walkway just as it turns to the left.
At 1:28:00 once you have disabled the APC's, you can get up to the level where they are. You need to stack the boxes (the one large regular box and smaller supply boxes) on the red box car that has an end close to the wooden railing. Use one box,or barrel, to jump up on the red box car. Then jump on the stacked boxes to get up on the wharf area. There aren't any supplies up there. But you can enjoy the view of the sunset, and the burned out APC's.
Thanks again, BigMac! Lots of stuff I wasn't aware of here, like going back to the airboat pickup point to encounter the fast headcrab. Some things you may have missed though: 1) At 1:18:11, there's another way to pick up that Magnum ammo. If you park your airboat on the other side, then get out, you can jump on top of the airboat and then on to the opposite ledge. This way, you'll find another pack of Magnum ammo on the wooden platform at the entrance to the tunnel. The trouble with this method is that it's hard to do without taking quite a lot of damage. But, as you're a "100% of items and kills" guy, I thought I'd mention it. 2) At 1:26:53, if you hug the right-hand wall and nudge slowly forward, you can sneak-shoot the first APC without it spotting you or opening fire. 3) Pretty sure you know this, but maybe you forgot to mention it at the end of a long session. G-man sighting at 1:50:20!
1:50:20 if you stop there in game and zoom in, you can see the G-man, next to the ligh pole over the dam. You can also pause the video and see a small silhouette.
At 1:50:21 in the left corner you didn't notice but the "G Man" watched on you and go away. When I played I thought that he was an enemy so I didn't understand why he don't died after shot , until I did zoom in on him and saw that he's the G Man. Great video, I really like your guides they are so accurate and do 100% everything, you even explain the story (I understand the story from you much better than playing the game), you do great job so please keep it going.
This is my favorite video of your's. It's like being on a road trip. It's such a relaxing video that I actually started putting this on every night to help me go to sleep.
If you enjoy taking water hazard slowly like you did in the video, you might take interest in an in-development hl2 mod called "Boatless." It aims to recreate Water Hazard without the airboat, and although it's not playable yet it shows a lot of promise.
Amazing video, BMD, there were a lot of parts I didn't even had a clue they existed, very thorough waltkthrough. A few things: -The red container you called AP is actually NP which stands for "Northern Petrol, which is what was written under the logo. -The chopper at the end of the chapter is not the only one that has a combine overwatch soldier inside, technically all of them have one and if you hit the first chopper at 53:00 sometimes it throws a combine soldier and you can see him falling on the horizon. -As for the pressurized canisters propelling like rockets if you shoot the top it can happen depending on the gas that it has inside, usually CO2 does the job, but flamable materials may not always behave in this manner, also for how long it would be propelling it would have to be calculated based on the volume, gas and pressure, it would also depend on the mouth of the canister, if it has thin throat it has a better chance. -Oh and you forgot to point out the Gman sighting even though it was within your view. Very minor stuff mostly but hey it's still an amazing walkthrough, an inspiration to us all! Cheers!
1) Yeah, I can't believe I said that, since for years I've already known it was NP. I guess I was just stressed by that Chopper, so I was forced to think very fast and on my feet, haha. 2) Yeah, minor details, I didn't want to take the time to explain about the Chopper's pilot, haha. I've known the Choppers can expel their pilots but I didn't know it could happen earlier than the final fight. 3) Thanks, my physics master, now I know what will happen, haha. 4) I can't believe I missed that G-Man location.
1) It can happen under stress, I've been there ;p 2)The more you know c: 3)Physics is my passion. Also if you search for "Compressed gas safety video" you will find good examples of this in action. ;) 4)I know right? haha! Keep up the good work!
Quick question: During the box-car maze I see you managing to kill the Metro-Cops in one shot of the Magnum, even though it looks like you are shooting them in the body/shoulder. Normally, during the multiple times I have played this section in an attempt to do a no-damage run of this Chapter, those Metro-Cops always required a Headshot on Hard Difficulty. I'm wondering: Are you actually getting a Headshot with those cops but it's just not showing well in the video? Sorry to be "that" guy that points out the difficulty stuff. I do realize this is played on Hard as the ammo picked up is reduced by half, and the enemies are taking the typical number of shots they take on Hard difficulty. Metro-cops for instance can survive 2 grenades on Hard, but will always die to 1 grenade on Normal or Easy. It's just weird the magnum is killing in one body-shot.
Yeah, it's a little weird, and I'm slightly disappointed with that. In the Xbox360 version of The Orange Box (which includes Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, and Portal), Metro Cops SOMETIMES take two shots (but most of the time only one) with the Magnum on Hard, but in the PC version (at least with this Steam copy), it only takes one shot for ALL Metro Cops, and I have no idea why that is. But yeah, you know I'm playing on Hard because of the ammo-halving from the Supply Crates (for instance, you only get 3 Magnum Shells for every carton you pick up). But yeah, anyways, thanks for pointing that out. :)
Strange: Whenever I play the game Metrocops will ALWAYS take 2 bodyshots on Hard, and ALWAYS die in one headshot on Hard. I am also using the Steam version. Also: Quick Tip: DO NOT try and do a no-damage run of this chapter. It sucks. Even though there are several chapters later in the game that are FAR worse. If you do want to see a No-Damage run, take a look at a youtube named Zevik. He did a no damage run of Half Life 2, though I think it was a segmented run (he saved the game and then re-recorded certain sections till he took no damage and stitched the video together seamlessly. Here is a link to his channel. ruclips.net/channel/UCPGNpIEheYb4lRmG1eE2x4A
@@BigMacDavis In fact there is TWO metrocop types! Simple cop and tough cop! Simple cops have 26 health, tough cop have 40 health. On hard mode .357 deals 30 dmg so simple cops die in one hit, but a harder version survives with 10 hp left. Simple cops are encountered in first 4 chapters including water hazard, harder version is seen in anticitizen one chapter. BTW grenade does 112.5 dmg on hard mode so nope metrocops are just better in avoiding grenades than combine soldiers

Also soldiers throw grenades more often and auto-aim is disabled on Hard So if .357 Revolver does 40 dmg on normal, it will deal 30 dmg on Hard or 60 dmg on Easy
The AP is not AP, it is NP and it stands for Northern Petrol. I am sorry, I am the one Half-Life enthusiast here who knows every bit of information about the lore of the game.

Thanks for the joy of these 2 hours. It's really fun to see how you tackle everything since I've played this recently.

OHHHH WONDERFUL! Yes, please do that for the rest of the earlier videos (and future)!!! I'm just too lazy to do all this hard work myself, haha! I'll give you credit in the descriptions of these videos! Thanks, man! :D
Yeah, these kind of timers pretty need to be credited. Well done, fam. :^D
Will do the previous ones and future ones when I have time. Glad you like it :D
1:07:40 that's why I love BMD
yeah, first time I hear BMD having an orgasm lol
@@jamdc2000 The whole monologue and the intonation starting at 1:06:53 made me laugh so much. BMD, you rule!
1:53:15?
Well it's not like I have work and responsibilities to attend.
Finally the wait is over! I'm expecting this to be at least 20% cooler than other walkthroughs
….so cool that he can "kill cameras" ! :)
What's with 20 percent?
It's a quote from BMD from another video. One of the DOOM map walkthroughs.
54:02 that's what she said
Oh yeah. You know I said it on purpose. ;)
I see what you did there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
A man comes home to his quite annoying wife of 30+ years to find her unconscious and then says sarcastically " 4:40 " LMAO!!
A two hour video of Big Mac Davis?? Looks like I get to get ready for my appt while listening to one of the best 100% game players 🤘🙃🐙🐢
So excited at 36:40! He got eaten!!!! Hahahahahahahaha YES!! He looked like spaghetti 🍝 🍝 LOL
Welcome to Bigmacdavis channel if u love killing all enemies than you've come to the right place
YES DUDE I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS! TOTAL SUPPORT
due to the not that long overdue i have almost forgotten how much i freaking love your videos. thank you for another masterpiece!
Almost 2 hours of pure goodness. My college classes can wait a bit.
Right quick!! Cup of coffee Mr Big Mac Davies has put up another video!! Woop woop!
Seriously though thank you for all your hard work I'm really going to enjoy watching this... 👌👌👌👊👍
Valve should hire you to make tutorial videos.
1:06:53 - Fuck man, that's dark.
Haha, oh yes, quite. Welcome to my interwebz.
And that voice as well
this is the best walkthrough EVER. not only do you say what we have to do without it feeling like a drag BUT you also go into detail into things that a normal player would never find without it feeling like useless information, heck i would probally watch the version you have of the first half life for back ground context
There's something quite satisfying whenever BMD says "Juuust like that"
I love the tone a Combine makes when you grease them. So satisfying.
*throws a bomb and saw the Civil Protection standing and do nothing.....* OOOH! SHIT!
at 1:50:20 you may think its a gman but its really not. IT'S BILLY MAYS WITH ANOTHER FANTASTIC PRODUCT!!!
Oh we all know that the fast headcrabs are not the nastiest headcrabs in this game, nope nope nope. But we'll meet those later on.
We dont go to ravenholm
*BigMacDavis* That comparison is pretty neat. Haha. But if flying option is included, like I said in the last time when we first encountered it, that award will go to the Manhacks. lol
Even though I've spent hundreds of hours playing this game over 15 years your pointing out little details and hidden locations I've never discovered before. That distant sneak peak at Ravenholm for example is something i hadn't noticed. That's like Dark Souls environmental foreshadowing long before that game even came out. Half Life 2 was truly ahead of its time and groundbreaking.
Thank you For this wonderful gameplay!
You are probably the best giver of walkthroughs for old-styled games especially Half-Life 2. This helped me so much. Thank you BigMacDavis. Regards, MCCF
I am so glad this Walkthrough helped you! And I'm glad you enjoyed! :D
Metro cops be like, trippin. You have a great sense of humor BMD!
Thanks! Can't wait for Portal! GlaDOS's sense of humor is really similar to mine. We might have a duel or two going on there. ;)
BigMacDavis You’re going to do portal? That would be like a dream come true! I love gladOS as well!:)
BigMacDavis Nice! Maybe Gabe’s waiting to finish HL3 until you do all valve games lol ; )
Maybe Gabe Newell will call big Mac one day for such a great job
I think even BMD would say there are others that deserve merit.😉
Oh yes~ My favorite RUclipsr is back with another amazing detailed video.
1:06:56 BigMacDavis was so hyped i tought he would jump out of my computer
"ooooooh shit" lolz
Sweet! Keep it up, proud of you.
4mins in and you already showed me something i hadn't seen before.
Big Mac Davis #1
Hey, so glad to hear, my friend. :)
You missed The G-Man at 1:50:23
The upload of this video has, quite literally, made my day.
Kinda weird that the fast headcrab just killed the woman and didn't use her as a host AKA make her into a fast zombie.
He was probably so excited to get a female. He was dancing around.
I have a headcanon that headcrabs can only take over male humans; female humans will simply die. After all, every zombie model appears to be male. COINCIDENCE?! I mean, yeah, probably a coincidence. But this seems as reasonable explanation as any!
Loving the walkthrough
btw small tips
-you can shoot the items/pickables to move them
-when your vehicle is below you, you just jump on it and spam the Use key and you wont take any falling damage and you will enter the vehicle
Cant wait for more :)
I see bigmacdavis uploads
(UNZIPS PANTS)
Mr King hoho calm down...
Absolute quality as ever. probably my favourite of your walk throughs in this game. Gives it a lot more action and depth. Many thanks.
Dude im replaying half life from the beginning watching these videos cause im excited for half life alyx!... give this man his 👑
so glad to have BigMacDavies back. Even got one of my friends hooked on the original Doom walkthrough's he made the other day :)
Hey, awesome! And I'm back for good this time! :D
good thats what I like to hear! :)
Thank you so much for showing us.
i watch it a second time now xD
i fell asleep earlier this day after a hard day of work xD
well round two is not bad because of you Mr Davis! xD
1:39:05 wow, I spend so much time trying to get them down with other methods. Really tried everything especially parkour. Thanks for solving this for me in this really well made and detailed video. This deserves a like
*sees time* *grabs popcorn*
15 minutes in and you've already shown things I never knew about, like the fast headcrab
This game was an adventure. And amazing experience that lingers in my mind to this day.
The way the combine pilot fell off was very funny. Great video as always ;)
In all my practice runs that I did for this Chapter, I never once was able to capture him falling out of the Chopper THAT CLOSE to me. I am so thankful I was able to get that on film during an official recording, it was awesome! :)
BigMacDavis awesome indeed we got the look of a new enemy that shows for the first time in the of chapter 6
I was studying for my exam, but ... BMD is BMD!
Get a good score, my friend! Good luck!
dude these walkthroughs are amazing, this game is difficult!! i appreciate you making it clear and easy to understand 🙏🏼
No problem, this chapter always gave me problems.
Are Scanners the new sweetnesses then?
Haha, maybe. They're kinda cute sometimes. Annoying though.
BigMacDavis Do you know why there weren't any houndeye's or bullsquids in this game? There seem to be PLENTY of barnicles and headcrabs, and a new enemy (antlions).
Darkon Ookami, I have no idea. I would have loved to see more Houndeyes, the sweetnesses.
BigMacDavis They're like Houndeyes, the way they come up to you :)
Grant Kruger, haha, yeah, and Scanners' faces look like they just want to be petted. :)
Best walkthrough....ever!!! All those you do are. Best. One thing, near the end, in the area you killed the hunter chopper and there's the storage bldg. If you go around the bldg to the left instead of the right you can see the G-man on the cement walkway just as it turns to the left.
Yeah! :D Moar Half-Life 2 being played by the masterful BigMacDavis!
Sure to be a good video, thanks :)
I love your classic game walkthrough videos! They're fun and detailed, without any BS screaming or other nonsense.
2 hours of BigMacDavis?, YAY!.
This is not a walkthrough. This is basically an art.
Thanks again, BigMac! Lots of stuff I wasn't aware of here, like going back to the airboat pickup point to encounter the fast headcrab. Some things you may have missed though:
1) At 1:18:11, there's another way to pick up that Magnum ammo.
Yeah, I can't believe I missed him.
I'm always so EXCITED when i see a new video of yours! :D
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying!
Just saying, you can also talk to the Vortigaunt in the Camp area mid way through the canal. The part where you get the Chopper gun installed.
Yeah, missing the G-Man Sighting was by accident. And thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying. :)
Mmmm love them Barnacles in HL2. It can even eat Antlion Guards
It's hilarious!
BigMacDavis How come it doesn't become full xD. We're lucky Barnacles don't have legs hahaha
Average walkthrough guides: Start by proceeding forward.
Chad Bigmagdavis: You guessed it, we're going backwards again.
A nearly 2 hour long video. That's always a good thing.
Haha, always. :)
This is my favorite video of your's. It's like being on a road trip. It's such a relaxing video that I actually started putting this on every night to help me go to sleep.
Absolutely, my friend, awesome, use my videos for whatever you want them to be. Got more long videos like this coming later. :)
If you enjoy taking water hazard slowly like you did in the video, you might take interest in an in-development hl2 mod called "Boatless." It aims to recreate Water Hazard without the airboat, and although it's not playable yet it shows a lot of promise.
Awesome! I'm always looking for HL2 mods like these! Thank you! :)
possibly the funnest game i've ever played through. im replaying it again after 5 years, but im a little confused on water hazard. this helped a lot!
if there was Surface Tension II it probabbly be 2 and a half hour long amazing Stay Amazing BMD !!
Amazing video, BMD, there were a lot of parts I didn't even had a clue they existed, very thorough waltkthrough. A few things:
-The red container you called AP is actually NP which stands for "Northern Petrol, which is what was written under the logo.
1) It can happen under stress, I've been there ;p
2)The more you know c:
3)Physics is my passion. Also if you search for "Compressed gas safety video" you will find good examples of this in action. ;)
4)I know right?
@@BigMacDavis
Basically difficulty is handled by SCALES:
sk_dmg_inflict_scale1 "1.50" //1.50
sk_dmg_inflict_scale2 "1.00" //1.00
sk_dmg_inflict_scale3 "0.75" //0.75
sk_dmg_take_scale1 "0.50" //0.50
sk_dmg_take_scale2 "1.00" //1.00
sk_dmg_take_scale3 "1.50" //1.50
sk_ammo_qty_scale1 "1.20" //1.20
sk_ammo_qty_scale2 "1.00" //1.00
sk_ammo_qty_scale3 "0.60" //0.60
1-EASY, 2-MEDIUM, 3-HARD.
Also soldiers throw grenades more often and auto-aim is disabled on Hard
So if .357 Revolver does 40 dmg on normal, it will deal 30 dmg on Hard or 60 dmg on Easy
I like how this sounds like a nature documentary, good work!
The AP is not AP, it is NP and it stands for Northern Petrol. I am sorry, I am the one Half-Life enthusiast here who knows every bit of information about the lore of the game.
I just rewatched that section of this video... I can't believe I said that... I also know it is NP. I just got lost, I guess, haha.
Maybe you were saying Arctic Petrol? Half-Life 3 confirmed from BigMacDavis?!?
Oh gosh, maybe!
mac this walkthrough helps a ton on my achievement hunt, great vid ive learned a lot of stuff ive never noticed in half life 2
I'm glad these videos are informative to you, my friend. :)
1:12:00 you can talk to the vortigaunt and he will say a lot of dialogue like about nihilanth and remembering about freeman action in half life 1
I love your walkthroughs man. You make it look so easy. I love this game.
Thank you, my friend, I'm glad you're enjoying. This game is awesome. :)
wow finally
awesome as always
