When I was a kid playing melee I knew there was a metal character fight near the end of classic mode, and I originally thought characters with fire moves would be my best bet to melt their metal
thats so smart, but it sadly wont work because of past memories of not working

Pretty much, yeah. At this point I'm pretty comfortable with characters' moves, knowing how to extend combos, having cool finishers, etc...

with something like luigi side bs do you have to route ahead and find a rng sequence that works, do you just roll with whatever youre gonna get, or do you mod his side b to happen when you want?
You can get different RNG for every frame you delay the move, so usually I'll just try 8 different frames and I will typically get a misfire in one of them.
Can somebody tell me how to get this stage without the 20XX patch?

I couldn't tell Mario from Luigi for 80% of the match without looking at the damage percentage.
