I have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trd off-road and it doesn’t seem like it’s compatible with my car. It boots up fine and works for a bit but after that it starts to skip and freeze up and finally it’ll disconnect. I normally have to reset my radio for it to work again only for it to happen again. I ended up getting a replacement and had the same issue. It also lags pretty bad. I changed a setting to fix that. I can’t remember what setting but I put it to 300 and it made it way better.
Each vehicle is different. Usually I find 300 or lower will make it skip and run into issues. 500-1000 is a bit more stable but there will be some extra lag
Just for CarPlay? Both 3.0 and Quadlock is the same thing. Quadlock likely has a newer software and maybe better support. If you’re using it for android 4.0 is the only option out of these three.
@@CarPlayLife Thanks, primarily to be used for Car Play. Thought the option for Android on the 4.0 may be useful but not necessary. Taking the 4.0 out of the equation, torn between Quadlock and Carlinkit in terms of speed, lag, reliability / audio quality. One of your videos mentions a background hiss on the Carlinkit in comparison your video on the Quadlock shows crystal audio. I am torn between the two devices now.
The 3.0 review is now an old review in comparison. Lots of updates and revisions have likely occurred since that review. I’ve not plugged in the 3.0 since my top 5 so I’ve not had a chance to compare audio between them but I would guess new models of the 3.0 shipping today might have pretty identical hardware and base software.
14 seconds is very slow compared to ottocast. That’s enough for me to buy the otto, plus quad lock didn’t have great customer support for their desk chargers and I was not happy after spending $500+ on their products.
I’ve bought this for my Renault Arkana, it works fine with the Easylink system. I also installed the latest firmware via the IP config menu, seems to be very stable now. I only have issues with it overheating if I store it in the glovebox with summer weather.
Thank you for your content and reviews of these products! Would I be able to listen to podcasts on my AirPods while still be using the CarPlay for navigation? I do Uber and I’ll have the radio playing for my passengers while I have my wired CarPlay showing my navigation while listening to a podcast in one ear simultaneously. I’m curious if that’ll still work with the wireless car play. Thank you! (I drive a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek limited)
Yes my iPhone can be connected to my watch over BT and be connected to CarPlay at the same time. I’ve never tried using AirPods and CarPlay whilst playing radio audio from stereo though. Could be doable.
If you have wired CarPlay it should work. These don’t give you CarPlay if you haven’t got it. They only convert wired to wireless for people that have wired CarPlay on the car system.
Thanks and thanks for watching. I never used the moto ma1 but this adapter only runs CarPlay and not Android auto so they are not really like for like adapters to compare them anyway
This is new to me. I can’t even find any info on it. I have a new one from Kybriq coming. Cyberpunk inspired. With Wi-Fi 6 so this sounds like it’s built off the same tech.
Yes that is the holy grail for many adapters. It will be good to see what exactly Wi-Fi 6 will do for the lag or if it’s just marketing hype and it’s not going to contribute to anything.
Just got this and have been using for a while only to discover that this thing really heats my phone up (iPhone 11 Pro Max). Is this a normal or an "accepted" issue with wireless CarPlay modules? Or exclusive to this brand?
It’s normal for wireless CarPlay to heat your phone up like this. Especially when using navigation. It’s doing a lot on tbd processor as well as sending and receiving video to the display. So it’s going to run hot/warm during use.
Is there delays when making a phone call? The adapter I have if I’m talking on the phone I have to wait a while before I hear the person I’m talking too on the phone speak. The delay is so annoying. Does this one have a delay as well?
You can try reducing the media delay to around 300-500 in its config menu. See if that helps. Otherwise newer adapters from Cuarko and my Sunweyer review comes out on Friday they have little delay in calling
My CarPlay adapter has been flaky too with my Ford Ranger. Bit frustrating really as you would thing this BT malarkey would be much more robust. But it isn’t.
So will this work on any car stereo system if your car has a big screen and I don’t have to have Apple CarPlay already built into the monitor just this device is that right?
Sorry I can’t answer questions on compatibility for cars. I have not tried it in. You’re better off asking their support team. But seeing that you said it is a 2010 model, it will unlikely have wired CarPlay I assume and you need Carplay for these Dongles to work
I’m looking for an new adapter I have Otto x-pro and I drive ‘17 Audi q7 with MMI interface. My original c2 air supported using the touchpad to input letters and move from buttons since no touch screen in this car you only have that MMI touch or the knob that suuuccckksss to use. Do you have an adapter that works with MMI touch interface in your testing? I don’t want to use OG c2 air since it crashed all the time and was super slow the Otto is fast and 85% reliable to not crash. But no MMI touch is almost a deal breaker.
Sorry I can’t say without testing these out with a non touch screen display setup. Most should list compatibility on their website so check for similar non touch systems like BMW

Hi there, I bought a Quadlock wireless CarPlay adapter today. It doesn’t work on my 2022 Mitsubishi Triton. Someone told me that I may need a usb power enhancer cable. That may give help. Do you have any suggestions? TIA
This is usually a split usb cable where the second connection supplied extra power to the adapter. I’ve only seen these cables come with the ottocast Picasou 2 and 2 pro and it’s a mind field getting one separately as it can so easily look like a splitter cable they might not work.
Ive been following the channel for a while and am ready to take the plunge on an AI Carplay device. I have a 22 Ford Edge that came with a 12" vertical display. Any help is appreciated!

As long as it has wired CarPlay usb port yes
Do you have to connect to it every time? I have it and I have to go into my Bluetooth settings to connect every time
Once paired the first time, it should connect automatically. Maybe you’re not waiting long enough? Or make sure automatic connection is ticked.
Does it stream RUclips?
Nope it is just a wireless adapter. Look for an AI Box instead ruclips.net/p/PLysOHeJ5BkMh2B1Rn4O0nk1ZSbJ2ufr-Y&si=t4RueVgDmEV5pRVs

Unless your usb is modded to stay on it should go off after 1-2 mins at most.

Connect to CarPlay first then on iPhone go to your browser and enter 192.168.50.2 to enter the menu on your phone.
Good review, is there any reason not to put the delay as small as possible or do you recommend it to be 500ms?
As soon as you go below 300-500 you will start to hear issues with audio general stability. So around there is a happy medium.
