Just done the mod successfully. Just make sure when dial to 90 degrees, test that the burr do not touch with eachother by using your index finger and try to rotate the spinning burr and no grinding sound. I did mine up to 100 degree when they started to touch each other, then i dialed it back to 90 degree. Different machine may touch each other even before 90 degree mark. Just make sure to test first. At finest setting the ground coffee choke my espresso machine, after dial in, best setting is at about 4 click above finest setting. Thanks for the video tutorial.
This video helped me to take my secondhand grinder apart and boy was it full of coffee! Protip for any folks who disassemble it - watch for the little bullet shaped bit of plastic in the plug where the red and white cable attaches. It's a safety latch for the top lid.
I found this video after recently deciding to go down the un-pressurised basket route and thought that the grounds from my grinder were too course. On opening the grinder I found that the mark on the gear was 90 deg out of position in the wrong direction actually limiting the grind!,. On further investigation I found that this was caused when I was removing the grind barrel for cleaning, I was being too heavy handed causing the cogs to jump out of position 😃😃. I’ve since completed this mod and now in the process of experimenting with a fresh bag of lavazza beans, Thanks for the great video it’s help me resolve a number of issues. 👍🏻👍🏻
Had to quickly repair my machine after it stopped working. I thought it was the lid safety switch. As slamming it down would make it work. It wasn't the switch, it was the big yellow cap '.47k275v~x2', soft start for the motor? Cold joints left the cap basically floating! I was about to replace the cap but reflowed it. Works fine now. I modded my grinder around 10 years ago, removed the gears so I twist the top blade by hand. I can make the two burrs touch. After a good clean it grinds like new and very fine if I so wish.
All the spurs on the white bit that attaches the the know have snapped off mine 😅 it was stuck on coarse and the burr refused to come out. Took it apart to try to pull it out as it was super jammed and I couldn’t get a grip on it from the top. I’ll just leave it on fine then… no more tweaking it

I noticed you did 8 clicks, will this still work at finest setting? I did 4 click adjustment from another video and it’s not fine enough for bottomless portafilter.
@@macor285 just added 4 more clicks, but there is now a grinding burr sound if i go more than halfway between medium and fine (while empty). Can i still go to finer even if burrs seem to be touching?
@@macor285 ok will just use the adjustment knob to stay at current setting without the grinding burr sound. It did make an improvement from the previous 4 clicks so thanks!

Great hack. For my grinder 4 clicks was more than enough. More clicks just make the coffee too fine, almost dust.

what did you do at 6:50 ? i dont want to do something wrong
Just return the burr and follow the arrow rotation to lock.
why are there two switches for set grind fine? what is it the black knob on top?
It is removable upper burr
The only thing missing is you should compare before and after setting. How finer the coffee. Then it will be perfect.
Actually, it's not mine. My boss ask me to adjust the finer of his delonghi then after he said it is ok now.

Check the teeth of the delonghi pin if still ok...the yellow plastic.

Clean the lock guide.

I correct myself the piece is actually a yelloish colour
The delonghi pin is available online. You can also ask from delonghi repair shop.

Yes 8 clicks work at finest setting. You can add 4 clicks. Just try.
