Because Hollyweird hates straight white males and films that they consider to promote "toxic masculinity." Plus, it's all white folk, and Hollywood hates white folks who refuse to apologize for being white and successful. That said. Oppenheimer was pretty awesome, although that also had virtually all white folk in it and also is about white males doing outstanding things.

For anyone who hasn’t seen this magnificent film yet, please don’t be fooled into thinking you have to be a wrestling fan to enjoy this one. This is a deeply emotional story about brotherhood and loss. In a world where biopics have been deeply oversaturated, this is one of the best ones made in recent years.
i was hesitant to watch it since i didnt seem like the demographic as someone who doesn’t watch sports at all, let alone wrestling. just got out of the theatres to see this and it truly was such a tragically gorgeous and emotionally potent movie. absolutely beautiful stuff!
Agreed! I just saw it tonight with my wife and she enjoyed it as well. She is definitely NOT a wrestling fan (albeit she loves Zach Efron lol) . I grew up watching it though today’s current product is ass in my opinion but I have a tremendous respect for the business as a whole. Anyways, I would give it a 7.5/10, great storytelling. Emotional. Suspenseful and very, very real. Definitely check it out.
Agreed. Wasn’t a big wrestling fan, but this film is wonderful.
I am not a big fan of westling, but this movie seems a beautiful story, on family, brotherhood, and the hard progress in sport, so, even not wrestling fan, it is not a reason do not watching it. I think the purpose is not the wrestling, but all around it. A family story. The strengh, passion, and disagree into a bound family.
I do like wrestling and enjoyed it in the 80s but it definitely a movie non wrestling fans can enjoy. I could feel the pain Kevin felt losing his brothers one by one, and it brought a tear to my eye.
I have 3 teen boys… they saw this movie together when it first came out and it has changed their relationship. It has always been good but it became even better. It made them realize how much they love each other and that life is short and anything can happen so value and love on each other for as long as we have.
Zac’s best role to date. He definitely deserved heavy consideration for an Oscar this role. Soul touching movie & performance 💪🏾🔥🙏🏾🥲
A24 does better quality movies than 90% from all other Hollywood entertainment companies.
A24 know what they do, they never fail to make a hit
I love A24
They do what Hollywood use to do which is take risks and chances on new interesting ideas and give them a decent budget
@@STOPTHECLOWNS581contrary to that fact, actually. A24 is a distribution company first, and a production company second. 90% of their titles are already made and have a famous actor attached. They also only take on lower budget films. Technically, they are a low-risk company, but very smart businesspeople.
I think because they are more hands off and give the creators freedom.
WOW.. The way they made it look like the actual Sportatorium.. The ring, the arena.. the outside sign.. Unbelievable. You can tell whoever made this movie really cared about it.
It is A24 after all, so no surprise there that it all looks accurate
Rush's Tom Sawyer, the music in the trailer, was Kerry Von Erich's theme song in WCCW. That right there assures me that they're going for accuracy.
thats a really nice thing to say
I think a big part of the growing Oscar buzz around this movie is what you're saying here. The pure authenticity of it all is going to be worthy of a beloved big budget sci fi epic when it comes to attention to detail and care for the subject. And seeing that level of focus to a subject like this... Good lord, are we in for a treat.
Agree it looks amazing. I just really hope they don’t shy away from the darker aspects of this family
Just came back from watching this. Did not think this film would emotionally break me. It's been a long time since a movie has punched me this hard. The greatest tragedy was how much love these brothers had for each other. They loved each other more than life itself. Zac Efron, made me a believer. The man can act. Through out the film, the greatest feat he had in acting was the amount of emotion and rage he had... hiding under his face. Through out the film while he didn't say anything underneath, you saw the pain of all the devastation that was happening around him. All he wanted more than anything... was to spend time with his brothers.
The last 15 to 20 mins of this movie, just hit different.
Great Movie, even if you wasn't/aren't a Wrestling fan, i would still recommend this.

You will want to hug your family members after this, your kids, your spouse. Your lover.
Human stories never do 100s of millions at the box office. 18 million seems about right for a biopic. This isn't marvel

This movie is going to be one of the most tragic wrestling stories to be shown for big audiences. As a wrestling superfan, the von Erich story is not about a curse, it's just about the unity of brothers who got into the wrestling business by a legendary but tough father who controlled them and broke them down to turn them into wrestling superstars in Texas, for WCCW (World Class Championship Wrestling). I hope that the story will be very truthful and respectful to the Von Erichs, but show the actual horrible truth about their struggles with depression, drug addiction, and just breaking their bodies and minds to keep WCCW successful by their father, but soon with all of it, all the brothers, except for Kevin, would be dead by their own addiction or by their own hands due to what they went through. So far, the movie looks good, Zac Efron looks a bit weird cast for Kevin Von Erich, but to be honest, movies shouldn't cast people for looks, but only for their acting chops, so I just hope Zac will do Kevin Von Erich right, but everyone else looks good enough for their respected roles. I'm praying that the movie is great because I think Wrestling should be told more in Movies, like what the wrestler was or now The Iron Claw, I think the wrestling business is very dramatic and eventful for a movie, but yet has very awful, tragic stories that could be a good portrayal for a movie. I hope it does well.
I want to see a movie regarding Chris Benoit and the events leading to that fateful June weekend in Atlanta, Georgia.
@@Shawn6751 I think it will be a good idea, but will be very mixed due to Chris's actions, I think it needs to be told and the movie needs to show the horror of what concussions can make in your career and your life and mind. so many trailers nowadays reuse old songs for the recognition factor, but this trailer rivals the Joker trailer in how it creates something new with those older songs. the synths at 1:34 create a new emotional context for Tom Sawyer, and it's absolutely amazing. i know nothing about the Von Erich story, and yet I've already been googling it for 30 minutes now. phenomenal trailer.
@@bigstanko7391 yes me too. Reading other comments saying it hits home to ppl who know…I want to know!! Yeah they try to drum up interest using older songs and hope that’ll be enough to draw ppl but this one the story was first and the song accentuated. Were you taken back on efrons built? He’s usually muscular but that was nuts. Reminded me of Split the beast.
@@bigstanko7391 I agree man. This is the best usage of this song I’ve seen thus far. I’d love an expanded version of this.
trailer gave too much away
So happy for zac
I've had zero interest in wrestling since I was a kid in the 90's. When this movie came out I wasn't interested. But for some reason, just in the last couple of months, I've gotten interested in the lore and history of pro-wrestling. Now, this movie looks so amazing I'll have to give it a go.
For the VERY FIRST TIME in my life, I have a movie that I can see in the theater with my Uncle who introduced me to wrestling in 1991 when I was just 4 years old. He always told me stories about the Von Erichs and the Fabulous Freebirds rivalry and now after 32 years, we finally have our own movie to go see together and his health is on the decline pretty badly so I’m very happy to be able to share this moment with him. 🙏🙏🙏
We're here to restore justice to the wrestling federation that our father built with his own two hands. The hands that were passed down to us. The hands that will deliver the iron claw to you! ... I love it !!! 🤠
I just can’t get enough of Jeremy Allen White ❤
I was a little skeptical he could pull off Kerry but in this trailer with limited footage I can tell he nailed it! Kerry Von Erich was one of my very first favorite wrestlers as a kid. So excited for this.
@@arlopear7136 the british actor is the one you should have been skeptical about
not enough trans and non-binary representation... TRASH!
Iron inspires me.. My parents said if i get 60K followers They'd buy me a professional camera for recording..begging u guys , literally

For me personally, best movie I’ve seen this year. Everyone in the theater was crying.
Agreed, saw Oppenheimer and felt gaslit by every single “masterpiece” given. Napoleon was a huge let down as well. I started to question my judgement on film (always been a huge movie buff) but then after seeing this i was reminded what it’s like to watch an incredible, captivating film that had me wanting to see every bit of content I could from it afterward. I’m a bout to watch vice’s 45 min little documentary. Best motion picture of the year imo
@@iiiLOBO I agree. I was so disappointed in Napoleon. 2023 rankings: 1) Iron Claw 2) Across the Spiderverse 3) John Wick Chapter 4
Godzilla Minus 1 is also deserves mentioning @@samdelgado8511
@@iiiLOBO Oppeneheimer was absolutely boring. They tried to gaslight the audience into feel sorry for Oppenheimer, a guy who built the atomic bomb, which didn't help since the film left out the Hiroshima Incident. I got more out Cassandro, which is a biopic where you feel sorry for the lead and you get more that with The Iron Claw because you get to know the brothers and you feel for them when tragedy hits each of them. I can watch Napoleon mainly for the battle scenes and I like Joaquin Phoenix. If any good biopics came out this year, it's The Iron Claw, Cassandro and Napoleon. Sorry Nolan you failed on all fucking fronts!
Any film that blasts Rush gets my seal of approval
As brothers they look so similar, brilliant casting!
Zac continues to make incredible choices for roles. He has become a generational talent.
Calm down lmao, do you even know what a "generational talent" is?
Man. Disney is a fucking grindhouse and while I personally think it's genuinely unethical to put young kids in the spotlight like that, you always, always see the grain (Zendaya, Olivia Rodrigo, Zac Efron, Jenna Ortega) separate from the chaff (Bella Thorne, Jeanette McCurdy) there. You have to be genuinely talented, mentally balanced or lucky to survive that Disney grind but those who do, almost always enjoy the highest level of success in the entertainment industry.
I totally agree but at least Bella was in "Girl", though that onlyfans stunt where she made a million scamming simps was pretty whack. I just mean there's way worse Disney stars that fade into oblivion then her. Also Zendaya is leagues above anyone else imo. This is the first Zach movie I am genuinely interested in. A24 did Robert Pattison justice maybe it'll give him a chance too.
@@LumpShorts I agree completely, let’s not put the anointing oil just yet
That DJ movie was the shittiest movie ever made
One of get best movies I’ve ever seen. No spoilers, but the monologue/scene at the end with his two sons when they were wrestling in the grass had me sobbing. Zac Efron is pure talent.
Absolutely!
Same bro :(( so sad cause it makes you think about your own life
That's a spoiler
令和の時代にこの映画が見る事がとてもうれしいです🙇
It's an incredible movie. We want more
I'm so proud of Zac. He's really come a long way since his Disney days. I hope he's still acting when he's 70. I see a few Oscars under his belt before he retires.
Right. He was my arch enemy in highh school musical so its good to see him grow out of the annoying heart throb nonsense
@THEDOORIZCLOSED 😂😂😂 If that helps you. I'm just glad to see him now as a man with such range under his belt. He didn't become the "troubled teen" or the "where have they gone" teen. He stays positive and takes his career seriously, and we see him in something new that he constantly conquers. I just love to see it.
I didn't care for the HSM days. It was when he got out of it that made me see him as an "actor." But I'm glad he didn't stay stuck with that on his resume.
This movie alone, he may get an Oscar for
@WillAlfonsi-kj8jp I think he will get nominated for sure. Even that is something to worth noting. Correct if I'm wrong, but I don't believe he's ever been Oscar nominated? The closest I'm thinking is the film he did with Nicole Kidman. Paper something. Idk. I never watched it. But yeah, I *think* this could finally get him to that golden statue.
I'd love to see that work in his favor. 😄
@@blackdogbrown yeah he's never been nominated before. The paperboy got a 15 min standing ovation at Cannes, but no oscar noms or anything if im not wrong
One of the most gifted and talented families in the history of wrestling. A story which needs to be told and will do extreme justice to the name.
ok

Yeah unlike me and five of my brothers are I don't think we talk and hang out much, but my love for them could never fade away. ❤✊🏾😊

A very beautiful film, and I thank the directors for this film
If you’ve seen the Dark Side of the Ring Episode on the Von Erich’s, you can see some of the points in the trailer they hit. The match with Flair, the tragic losses, the conflict with the father. This is going to be a good one, for wrestling fans old and new.
Hello, I am 17 years old. Let me explain to you some points. Palestine is an Arab country in origin. In the past, in 1919, there was a war, and Palestine became the destination of all Jews. But when they became numerous in number in Palestine, a group of them was found called the Zionists, which is the corrupt and racist group of Jews, and they wanted To make Palestine their country and expel all the Arabs from it, calling it “Israel.” These dreams of the Zionists continued until 1948, when a war broke out between the Arab countries and the Zionists. Unfortunately, the Arabs lost the battle, and then Israel became a bitter reality, and it is the most criminal country. It does not It knows whether big or small. All that matters to it is to make all of the Arab lands its own. To achieve that goal, it committed humanitarian massacres, expelled millions of families from their homes, and imprisoned children, women, and the elderly, in addition to young people, in prisons for dozens of years, while using the most extreme types of unlawful torture. Legally and inhumanely, the fate of everyone who said no to the Zionists was perdition, and this Palestinian resistance called “Hamas or the Al-Aqsa Flood” was a natural reaction to those brutal acts and the usurpation of their land. However, Israel did not stop the brutal acts, as it is now imposing a siege on the Gaza Strip, which contains 2 One million people. This blockade includes preventing access to water, electricity, the Internet, or food to the people of Gaza and preventing the arrival of any humanitarian aid from any country, in addition to the continuous bombing by Israeli aircraft and the use of internationally banned weapons. After everything you do, you play the victim to gain the sympathy of the European community that does not He knows the truth of the matter and uses all means to prevent the arrival of this truth. Please review your beliefs after what you have read now and you can be sure of what I said.
Hopefully this becomes one those big award. Movies
That opening shot is incredible in its simplicity.
Thank you very much for these very beautiful scripts and films
From wrestling to tears. What an emotional, heart warming and sad movie. That really is a cursed family isn’t it. I wasn’t sure about this film as I’m not a wrestling fan but it’s not just about wrestling. 10 out of 10 !!!
Zac is massive!! I wonder what role he will play next 💪🏼
For anyone that knows their history, the moment in the trailer that guitar riff hit... I know you felt it.
Modern Day Warrior!! RIP Kerry ❤
what does this movie have to do with BOC?
Pretty sure he's talking about Rush. Kerry Von Erichs solo entrance music was "Tom Sawyer"
Song is don't fear the reaper. If I have to explain beyond this, I can't help you.@@illkissyourightnow
You are correct, but I was referring to Don't fear the reaper@@JaymzWebb
My best friend and I went to go see this last night and we were both absolutely blown away. It's heartbreakingly sad and beautifully made. The acting was very good and kept our attention the entire time. Zac was beyond brillant as Kevin. The whole cast was gold 🎉
That is awesome! I really enjoy boxing/wrestling movies done right, so definitely interested to see this.
@@BattleBladeWarriorThe release of this film has been delayed until February in the UK.
@@enterthebruce91 It's absolutely worth the watch! Definitely see it in the theater when it comes out!
Every time I hear the song now I immediately imagine the triple arm bars to the face.
What’s the name of the song??
Very good film. Thank you
Calling it. Zac Efron probably gets an Oscar nod from this.
I'm thinking Jeremy will too
That "I told you to look out for him" had to be fritz yelling at Kevin over one of the other brothers death. The emotion and anger in that one line is fantastic. Im prepared to cry that night
I thought it was Kerry yelling at Kevin for not looking out for David
My prediction is it’s one of the brothers yelling at Bruiser Brody.
Brody was close with the Von Erichs and is the one who found Kevin.
I think that's Kevin yelling that probably to his dad, and by voice wise, you can tell that's Zac Efron.
you cant tell because the casting is so bad - No one even looks like who they are suppose to be - It could have been Bronco yelling at manning and no one would ever know unless they had name tags
@@tomr3422 u still gonna watch it tho
