Although the American people protested against the war, it was not strong enough to cause the US government to withdraw its troops. Only when their b52 flying fortress was shot down too much in the sky over Hanoi did they accept the end of the war in Vietnam.

They did not defeat the US Army. They had the Chinese protecting them which was why the US didn't attack the North but instead fought North Vietnamese soldiers in S. Vietnam. Without the protection of China, North Vietnam would not have lasted very long. We left because we got tired of endless war and let the S. Vietnamese defend their own country, which they failed. So the idea that they defeated USA militarily is nonsense, its fiction.
