  • Well.... The Jacks came in early this year and we just so happened to go on one of the days where they were schooling around the jetty. We've had better days catching them, but this was definitely a great one. We took two trips within a span of a few days (early March 2023) & hooked up to some nice jacks. These fish are considered trash by some, and bait by others. But nobody can deny the sheer power & intensity these fish bring to the table when it comes to fighting one. And they are one of my favorite fish to catch because of that. Unfortunately the last one swallowed the spoon & was not going to make it, so he's shark bait. But I hope you all enjoy these awesome catches & some great south Texas scenary! Like & comment & SUBSCRIBE for more awesome catches. Big things to come this year!

For sure man, one of my favorites. And me too, I’ve been wanting a tarpon for so long. I think I’m gonna try to make a Florida trip this year to get a tarpon. Gonna cheat 😂😂

Thanks, I really appreciate it. And yea man jetty fishing is some of the best. It does take some practice & getting used to in regards to the rocks. But it’s one of my favorite places to fish.

Hell yeah man, pound for pound they are one of the hardest fighting fish ive ever come across. They will be around, get out there to the jetty with some spoons & poppers (go to the end)! I hope you get one man, good luck.

Thanks! The reel is a Daiwa Prorex (400 size). It’s actually a musky reel, and I got it because I really liked the looks & it was on a killer sale lol. The rod is also a Prorex with Winn grips. It’s a great combo for jetty fishing. Not really rated for saltwater, but it’s held up thus far.

I’m going shopping for a 9’ rod this weekend. I need to get on this kind of action. That is a beautiful fish and man did it look like a work out! I love how you show all the fight! What kind of leader are you using if any and line? Braid, mono?

Thanks man I appreciate it! I use 80lb mono leader line (about 2’ or so) & i use 50 pound braid on most of my jetty reels. My preference is JBraid Grand 8x (it’s really good). Gotta get you some 3oz spoons, I usually get them on Amazon. If you go enough, you’ll get on em 😎
