Hi Cory! Eye tracking evangelist here! What you're talking about at 11min mark is a methodology that is currently used, and has been used in earlier eye tracking world, where it wasn't accurate enough - method is called think-out-loud (pretty intuitive, huh?). Great content!

Just like sight reading you shouldn't look away too long. Bruce Lee even says you never take your eyes off the enemy. You should keep your eyes centered at all times. Know your octaves and build relationships with them

I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts about lateral eye movement. For example, how far ahead do you generally look when sight reading, and do your eyes scan forward and back or mostly stay ahead of what you’re playing? (I love your book, by the way - it has helped my sight reading immensely.)

Always stay ahead of what you are playing by at least one measure or two depending on the lengths of measures.

Cory, I recently discovered your channel and it is my go-to resource as I'm trying to start playing piano again after a 7-year hiatus. It is just wonderful and has been so helpful in jogging my memory on things I had forgotten. The most complicated thing I have been able to recover and am able to play now (haltingly) is the Maple Leaf Rag, which was the high point of my piano-playing period, but I would like to challenge myself to other things at that or a bit higher level. Do you think you might one day do a "deconstruction" (sight reading and "how to play") of La Campanella?

I have a 13-video tutorial series on "La Campanella" on WellRoundedPianist.com. If you become a member, you can have full access to those videos as well as over 2100 more videos!

@@BachScholar Awesome, I will sign up today! Out of intellectual curiosity, what level of complexity would you say La Campanella is relative to the Maple Leaf Rag? Is there a common system that lets one self-assess and estimate what pieces are most appropriate for their level of playing?

just imagine what brilliance some of the blind pianists must have had (art Tatum for example). Pity your channel has so much advertising.
