Great Video looking forward to your clock comparison I also had some trouble soldering one of them had a missing connection so I finally ran a separate wire for it You can test the connections on a ohm meter don’t use the continuous test as it injects some voltage Check the schematics was very helpful for me basically all the caps are in parallel so you should not have a short on the caps Also check that the clock pins are connected to the little board because of the rotation they are off by one Hope that helps 😊
Thank you very much for the great video. Could you please advise me how to connect this streamer with USB dac (Topping D70 Sabre)? Is it possible to use the USB output from the Raspberry pi for the connection? The DAC has no hdmi input. Thank you very much for your reply
Let's say I build one of these, I can go Toslink/Coaxial/HDMI directly into my Onkyo receiver and I wouldn't need a DAC in the middle right? The receiver should be doing what ever digital to analog conversion needed and I would imagine convert it to something it can use properly? Or would it be better to get a quality DAC in the middle or maybe a DAC hat for the PI??
Yes I plan to make a video. I wanted to make an enclosure to finish the build but that has not panned out. Guess i will talk about the bare bones build.
I have a power supply from Topping yet. Should I buy only TRANSPORTPI DIGI Ultra Low Jitter Digital Audio Interface Module, without clock CHIPSET, and it will works? It's better than Allo Digione? Thanks
I got the crystek from digikey. I needed up using accusilicon and will discuss in my review. I like the various options from Ian Canada especially power supplies with super capacitors over Pi2aes but we all have choices.
Thanks for the excellent video. I have the same Digi board and thinking about upgrading the clocks. The only problem is that I have no idea which clock I should buy. Are you planning to show clock upgrading in the next video?
I purchased the crystek clocks and the Ian Canada boards. The soldering didn’t go well as the capacitors are like one of the smallest made. The will get completed though. In the meantime I got the accusilicon clocks. I will be talking about the sound differences. I highly recommend the power board that goes below.
I just ordered from IanCanada, parts should be here middle of next week. I'm going to hook the Pi/Volumio to my SU-10 dac over I2S. Can't wait! Any updates on how it sounds and how the optional crystals affect the sound?
Sorry behind on reviews. Probably the best streamer I’ve ever heard. You will like it a lot and likely change your opinion on how a dac sounds. What boards did you get.
@@ThriftShopReviews FifoPi Q7, HdmiPi Pro, PurePi 5V+3.3V, MonitorPi, UcConditioner 3.3V. I'll setup the UcConditioner once I have a chance to order the SuperCaps.
@@kellyanderson7115 sounds like you have a good game plan. I am getting the Q7 + ESS dac plus zero output board. So impressed with the sound I want more. I will talk about the downsides though in my video. Maybe I will move it up sooner then later. Thanks
@@ThriftShopReviews I just put my IanCanada stack together...I have it attached to my "worst" system at the moment, even though it's my worst it's still not bad. It has good speakers, Elac UBR62, but the amp is kinda run of the mill ~$500. I don't have a preamp in this system to I'm using the DAC's preamp. Even using the SMSL SU-10's preamp this system sounds great with the IanCanada setup over I2S!
I don’t have the allo digi to compare against. I do have the allo boss2 and doesn’t sound great. Boss2 is probably the best built unit though. I can only say I’ve never heard digital sound this good. So happy I went this direction.
@@bolobos yes he has multiple power items. One is just a super capacitor and 5v supply while the other one has batteries and has 5v and 3.3v. If only using the transport digi the 3.3v is not needed. I will be getting the other board for a dac build.

Man, I find new music in the strangest places. Thanks for including the music info.

You can use the coax output to your dac.

For this version you would need a dac or dac hat. Ian Canada has awesome dac hats. I plan to build one soon for another video.
so are you gonna make a video where you discuss the influence of the crystek clocks or did i miss something?

I'm interested in this setup, also considering PI2AES with external power which is similar price. Where did you get the Crysteks?

Hi, I'm completely new to streamers.
Is it possible to run Roon from my PC to this ? And then connect this to my DAC via I2S ?
You can use ropieee on a raspberry pi for roon
Volumio supports Roon now as a plugin

what happened to the project? there are no more videos about it
Just released this morning
I want to see the next video

I can see that I'm going to have to order some more IanCanada stacks to notch all of my systems up.
using Volumio, what i2s dac do I need to pick from the configuration menu?
Sorry, I did't see your message. I believe its the one of hifiberry dac settings. Cannot remember the details while away from my unit.
Is this the hat you used?
20B. TransportPi Digi,Audiophile grade master mode digi transport, $95.00
I believe it is

Give a try to picoreplayer ;)
that was my question.... love the Pi concept but Volumio sucks
Great video but that racket is so off putting.
