  • Wyre Forest has become the largest woodland National Nature Reserve (NNR) in England.
NNRs are designated by Natural England, and this declaration recognises the way in which Wyre Forest has been sustainably managed. The Wyre Forest reserve, which straddles the Worcestershire and Shropshire border, has been extended by almost 900 hectares so that it now spreads over 1,455 hectares.
Wyre is one of the largest ancient oak woodlands in the country and is jointly managed by Forestry England and Natural England, with small areas of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust land. This multi-partnership approach means that the forest managed in a way which has long-term positive effects on wildlife, people and the climate, both now and in the future.

We need these ancient Woodlands. I find little pockets of ancient Woodlands and imagine how it was 100s of years ago.

To right I agree. No forest equals fragile health and not just for humans. Peace.

It was around the time Princess Diana died In the 90's.🤔🐈‍⬛🐆

Myself and my partner have had many a early morning Walk In the Wyre forest. We are very local, So it's So easy to get to. One Morning We were lucky enough to accidently flush out the white Hart and a brown stag, It was a Wonderous Sight to see, The White Hart had one of it's antelers broken, apparantly there is luck Involved If you See it, but I'm not Sure What kind Good or bad?? Theres So much to see and do. I highly recommend. 🌲🌳🌲🌳🌬🌾🦌🦋🪱🌞
