Michael is an especially interesting case. He knows he is destined to fight Satan and win, as it is written in Revelation. He is also wise enough to understand he will win for the same reason Israel won fights...the Lord was with them. When the Lord is not with him, he stands down and waits for the Lord to rebuke him. There's a good reason this guy is God's general.

It's so hard to teach the bible in my country, we speak swahili and the swahili bible must be one of bible with most wrong translations out there. Some words means differently from English and Greek meaning. Thanks for this, i will translate this lesson in swahili and write it on my Facebook.
I agree that that verse is not about binding the devil.(that's just what whacky kenneth copeland taught and everybody believed it) binding and loosing is about forgiving others and being forgiven of sins as the scriptures clearly state--> John 20:23 KJV - Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. I think some people are thinking about Luke 10:19-20 where Jesus says he has given us power/ authority over satan. In verse 20 He says that the spirits (demons) obey us. I agree with your explanation on binding and loosing, but Jesus has given us authority over satan and his demons. Which we use when we cast them out. In Jesus name of course.
But it's important to read that piece of scripture in context. Jesus was talking to the 72 he had COMMISSIONED. What's our take based on context? Unless God has specifically commissioned an individual or individuals on an assignment, their works amount to nothing because they go in the flesh. When we're led by Holy Spirit however, because it is God who has ordained it, we can indeed heal, cast demons and I believe even raise people from the dead. But it must be under the Lord's will, when He wills and how He wills it. We can do all things through CHRIST. It's actually dangerous to be binding demons without ordination. See Acts 19, specifically verses 11-16. It worked out for Paul because Paul was actually sent by Jesus and empowered by Holy Spirit. It didn't work out for the pharisees for well....obvious reasons. The same applied to us today. It is only what we do under the unction of Holy Spirit and in Jesus' authority WITHIN God's will that will work.

I’m understanding that 19 and 20 go together.People try to go on 19 alone but that’s very dangerous amd it will bring harm if you don’t heed 20 as well. We must make sure to take heed before amd during verse 19.
@@renatafnedab3003 Yes, context. I used to read the Bible in bits and had a bad habit of misinterpreting scripture by rushing into application. Exegesis is a fundamental skill we must all master as saints. What is the historical context? What does that scripture tell me about Jesus? What is the dispensation? How does any of this apply to my personal life? Reading the Bible this way has made me see the Glory of God so much more and changed my understanding of many botched/misinterpreted scripture. I'm still unlearning but make a conscious effort to remove self when I read the Bible. Let Jesus and God's will be the center when you read Biblical text🙏🏾

If you read the rest Isaiah 9:2 it says "The people walking in darkness *HAVE SEEN A GREAT LIGHT* The "LIGHT" is the Gospel of Jesus Christ! He came to set the captives FREE (from the bondage of Satan) (Luke 4) The thousand years is not off in the future, it is NOW! Christ RECEIVED "authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed." (Daniel 7:14) The KJV says "A KINGDOM." Love your insights on the perfect tense, super helpful. I do think if your heart and conduit are pure with the father, you can bind a specific Satan. Jewish people like myself went after HaSatan of lust and idolatry before we lost prophesy during Ezra & Nehemia's time. That story is not in the Bible, it's in Talmud, Mishna, or Gomorrah, which I learned from my Rabbi.

To bind = to declar what shell be binding (e.g. laws and precepts) and what shall be not binding. Who ever you shall bind/seal on earth, shall be bound/sealed in heaven. If you put that retainer fee upon them, again legal terminology. I will honor it in heaven. If you bind them here in Christ in truth. If you seal/bind in their forhead, to seal is to set a seal upon ones mind. Talking about a seal that can not be broken. For it is impossible to go back. The flesh will drag you down but your mind is not going back. Even though you are in the flesh, I will honor what you seal! ALSO NOTE: Keys of the kingdom of heaven not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom. That is to say when you teach the truth, when you have the knowledge of truth. If you teach to difference in Messiahs,and if you teach what the unforgiveable sin is, it will stand on earth, and it will also stand in heaven. Binding and Loosing has to deal with Church Discipline NOT Binding and Losing Satan. I heard the late RW Shambauch say "I loose you". I hear the current words Bind and Banish.
Matt 16:19 is about spiritual warfare and is not talking about, "heaven", where God resides, but the heavenly places where satan rules. If you check the Greek for heaven in that verse, you'll find that it's plural, "For we wrestle not against flesh and and blood, but against powers, against the rules of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in heavenly places".
So.,.. how do we know what is already bound and loosed if the Sprit gives this revelations. How does the believe enforce the perfectly already executed decisions from heaven down on the earth in real earth time....?
@Mike and Leah. We have the power to overcome the devil. This is very different to charismatic "binding" of the devil, as the Word makes it clear, he will be bound AFTER Jesus returns. And he will be bound by an angel. We are given the power to resist him and overcome his fiery darts and manipulation. If we had ALL power over the devil, why does an angel need to bind him AFTER Jesus returns? We have ALL power over our minds, hearts and words, through Christ...which is sufficient. Charismatic 'binding' of Satan is theater and not biblically sound. That said, I agree that lesser powers can be cast out, rebuked, chased away, etc.

I was having issues with a demon and said the Lord rebuke you and nothing happened. It only left when I said I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ. Not saying your wrong because the bible does back up what your saying, but using that term has never worked for me.

The binding of Satan in Revelation 20 is for one specific purpose: *That he may deceive the ethnos (gentiles) no more* UNTIL the thousand years are over." When Jesus came, HE DID bind "the strong man" and IS "plundering his house" NOW, by the GOSPEL! (Matthew 12:29) No, WE do not have power! The power is GOD'S WORD! His GOSPEL, which is "the POWER OF GOD unto salvation." The GOSPEL "frees the captives!" And THIS (the Gospel) is the "Treasure" that WE have "in jars of clay" (our frail earthly bodies) The POWERFUL Light of God's Word entrusted to weak human beings, by which WE "are God's fellow workmen" (1 Corinthians 3:9) as we go into "the fields" of humanity, spreading the Gospel, and reaping a harvest of souls. 2 Corinthians 4:7 "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that *this all-surpassing power IS FROM GOD AND NOT FROM US* Remember in the OT, it says: *God had given His word (His "Light" as Isaiah 8:20 says) to ISRAEL ONLY "he has done this for no other nation" (Psalm 147:19-20 Which is why it also says: *The nations were "Walking in darkness" (Isaiah 9:2) *God "overlooked their ignorance" (of Him) (Acts 17:30) And allowed the gentiles to "Go their own way" (away from Him) (Acts 14:16) Which is why Paul tells us in Ephesians 2 that 11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)- 12 remember that *AT THAT TIME* (in the past) you *WERE* separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 *BUT NOW* in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Yes, God HAD planned on including gentiles into His kingdom which is why He told Abraham "I will make you the Father of many nations." But that plan was not in effect (except for very few gentile converts) until JESUS! If you read the rest Isaiah 9:2 it says "The people walking in darkness *HAVE SEEN A GREAT LIGHT* The "LIGHT" is the Gospel of Jesus Christ! He came to set the captives FREE (from the bondage of Satan) (Luke 4) The thousand years is not off in the future, it is NOW! Christ RECEIVED "authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed." (Daniel 7:14) The KJV says "A KINGDOM." Jesus said "ALL AUTHORITY in heaven and earth HAS BEEN given to me" (Matthew 28:18) Jesus IS on His throne (Hebrews 8:1) Jesus MUST REIGN (Present tense) UNTIL He makes His enemies a footstool (1 Corinthians 15:25) And WE ARE (present tense) "Kings and Priests" WITH HIM by THE GOSPEL ( Revelation 1:6)
Satan being bound does NOT mean he can do no evil. Satan IS a tool in God's hands but He can ONLY DO what God allows Him to do! Satan REQUESTED permission to afflict Job. Satan REQUESTED permission to afflict Peter. Satan is STILL allowed to deceive, but NOT "the elect" once they hear the Gospel, which is "the power of God unto salvation." Jesus IS "ruling IN THE MIDST of His enemies" (Psalm 110:2) And until ALL of God's sheep are found and brought into the "pen," until ALL of God's people are freed from the strong man who has taken them captive (2 Timothy 2:26), until ALL of God's people have been "translated/rescued from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom (of light) of His dear son.." (Colossians 1:13) Satan will remain bound SO THAT "he can deceive the gentiles no more UNTIL the thousand years are over *THEN HE WILL BE RELEASED FOR A SHORT TIME* This is the "falling away" or "the rebellions" spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2. This is the "perilous times" spoken of in 2 Timothy 3. WHY? Because Satan has been loosed once again to deceive the nations and evil will spread like fire! The Nations/Governments of the world will be of ONE MIND (Satan's mind) (Revelation 17:13) I believe that's what we see happening NOW! Christianity is becoming more and more hated. People are becoming more and more perverse and hateful. The governments are conspiring more and more to enforce unlawful mandates against their citizens all across the world!
I find a few issues with your interpretation. Notice when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, and Satan was defeated by the Word, Satan fled until "an opportune time". Demons always come back. When an unclean spirit is cast out of a man it returns with seven stronger demons. Though a person is free from a demon, if that person leaves an open door, they will undoubtedly be oppressed once more. Submitting to God is not a cure-all either, for one can submit in the morning, but by evening they revert back to their old position. Also, rebuking an unclean spirit is chiding, under the authority of Jesus Christ, that demon for oppressing one who is created in the image and likeness of God. In effect, it is saying, "What do you think you are doing here? You ought to know better than to torment this person. Now you must go." When Michael said, The Lord rebuke you, it is the same as when a child of God declares, I rebuke you, demon, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Lastly, whether a person is a child of God or not, if a door is left open, a demon can easily access that individual. Why else would Peter caution believers to be vigilant of this roaring lion?
Of course, satan ( and his demons) cannot be bound in one place yet, however, the context of the scripture you are referring to is that we can incapacitate satan from carrying out a particular activity each point in time. That does not mean he is bound and made immobile. NO!!. Satan has the authorization from God to do what he is doing right now until he is bound by God at the appointed time. The Bible says we have the authority to incapacitate (prevent him from carrying out a certain activity) him on a case by case basis by virtue of delegated authority received from Jesus. Resisting the devil is a different matter entirely. You resist the devil through the knowledge of the Word of God in you which you deploy to counter any moves he is making towards you.
You need to provide a scriptural basis for your argument- it sounds good but there isn’t any evidence of that at all. Even if we had some authority over Satan, by your own admission you’ve stated that he has been given authority by God to do what he is doing. Therefore we would have two executive orders that contradict each other- and we know that God is not the author of confusion. In summary, we have no authority over the devil at all- we are simply commanded to resist him while drawing close to God. Let’s leave the binding of our enemy to God.

Heaven has decreed that we have overcome the evil one and we have to stand on what heaven has decreed. As believers we have a right to call people to faith in the work Jesus has done. There is a lot of misunderstanding, and lack of knowledge, but the terminology has purpose. Some things may be termed improperly, but it is understood by the spirit even if it isn't understood in the mind. Our ancestors did this constantly because we were not allowed to read. So, we had terms that helped us to understand what we fully and ACTUALLY experienced. Now, thank you for proper terminology. It is important, but the grace it took to help us fight through slavery is even more important. I thank God our ancestors were able to "bind the devil" enough for your forefathers not to kill themselves and you can be born to look down on what God used to carry us through. I totally understand the Greek in Matt 16. I understand the proper application, but I also understand a bitter spirit and and arrogant spirit in man (once again these are terms used to describe a mentality). You're the other side of Gino. You're the other side of Hinn. They lost their connection to God through spiritism, please don't let something as silly as Greek make you lose God. The "Living God" was the boast of Israel, I refuse to worship a God that has reduced himself to literature. He's the WORD not some words.
It pains me to see this in the chat- we have no right to dictate to God who He is and who He is not. No one is REDUCING Christ to anything- a definition is a definition. What our ancestors went through; our combined human and spiritual experiences cannot be elevated to the Word of God. God in His mercy and Grace may have allowed ignorance in the past because He knows our hearts, but we do not have that same excuse. This complaint is like a teacher who gives his students a dictionary to help them navigate words they don’t understand, and having them retort that they can use their own experiences to define things they don’t even understand. None of us have that right. It’s much easier to get a Greek thesaurus and look it up; if after doing that you can genuinely say that a person is wrong then…fair game. This, however…is just plain stubbornness with a touch of pride.

Christianity in itself is an experience. How do we know that someone is born again? We see the fruit of transformation- that is the fruit of the spirit. The devil laughs so very hard and people who think they can bind satan. First of all, nowhere in the bible has God allowed, or commanded or even permitted us to TALK TO THE DEVIL. The only thing we are to do according to Ephesians 6 is to Resist the devil and to stand against the devil. Our defense is our offense. I am guaranteed to fly in His Kingdom. Similarly, Satan will be bound, released and then destroyed. Our incessant 'binding' will not alter the already established order. Revelation 20:1-10 outlines when he will be bound, who will bind him, and how beautiful the world will be when he is actually bound. It tells us how deceived the world will be again when he is loosed, and also his final destruction. In short, he is not currently bound, and no amount of charismatic utterances will change that. But he will be, in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. Don't be swayed by clout chasing Satan binders. The WORD of God, as presented to us in the Holy Bible is TRUTH and Spirit. He isn't necessarily afraid of us, but he's not dumb enough to keep attacking an immovable wall. He's voraciously and violently cunning, and he understands he can get to you by attacking the weakest part of the wall; someone you care about. At least that's the issue with someone like me who is insanely devoted, even as I constantly mess up... It's in my nature, and it's also in my nature for my heart to break by the pain of others. The worst and easiest way for Satan to get to you is to attack the one already on the floor, cursing you to watch someone slowly pass away. These bindings, I feel, are more or less one of two things: Profiteering A coping mechanism I bind the devil by being a wall, but it doesn't mean he can't hurt you... Maybe if you were completely alone and without care of others would one be unattainably immune, but what Christian would one be in that scenario?

Michael is an especially interesting case. He knows he is destined to fight Satan and win, as it is written in Revelation. He is also wise enough to understand he will win for the same reason Israel won fights...the Lord was with them. When the Lord is not with him, he stands down and waits for the Lord to rebuke him. There's a good reason this guy is God's general.

Would love for you to break down in Rev 20 if the " thousand years" is really 1,000 years or just a long period of time.
I think some people are thinking about Luke 10:19-20 where Jesus says he has given us power/ authority over satan. In verse 20 He says that the spirits (demons) obey us. I agree with your explanation on binding and loosing, but Jesus has given us authority over satan and his demons. Which we use when we cast them out. In Jesus name of course.
But it's important to read that piece of scripture in context. Jesus was talking to the 72 he had COMMISSIONED. What's our take based on context? Unless God has specifically commissioned an individual or individuals on an assignment, their works amount to nothing because they go in the flesh. When we're led by Holy Spirit however, because it is God who has ordained it, we can indeed heal, cast demons and I believe even raise people from the dead. But it must be under the Lord's will, when He wills and how He wills it. We can do all things through CHRIST. It's actually dangerous to be binding demons without ordination. See Acts 19, specifically verses 11-16. It worked out for Paul because Paul was actually sent by Jesus and empowered by Holy Spirit. It didn't work out for the pharisees for well....obvious reasons. The same applied to us today. It is only what we do under the unction of Holy Spirit and in Jesus' authority WITHIN God's will that will work.

@@renatafnedab3003 Yes, context. I used to read the Bible in bits and had a bad habit of misinterpreting scripture by rushing into application. Exegesis is a fundamental skill we must all master as saints. What is the historical context? What does that scripture tell me about Jesus? What is the dispensation? How does any of this apply to my personal life? Reading the Bible this way has made me see the Glory of God so much more and changed my understanding of many botched/misinterpreted scripture. I'm still unlearning but make a conscious effort to remove self when I read the Bible. Let Jesus and God's will be the center when you read Biblical text🙏🏾

The binding of Satan in Revelation 20 is for one specific purpose:
"That he may deceive the ethnos (gentiles) no more, UNTIL the thousand years are over."
When Jesus came, HE DID bind "the strong man" and IS "plundering his house" NOW, by the GOSPEL!

Love your insights on the perfect tense, super helpful. I do think if your heart and conduit are pure with the father, you can bind a specific Satan. Jewish people like myself went after HaSatan of lust and idolatry before we lost prophesy during Ezra & Nehemia's time. That story is not in the Bible, it's in Talmud, Mishna, or Gomorrah, which I learned from my Rabbi.

To bind = to declar what shell be binding (e.g. laws and precepts) and what shall be not binding.
Who ever you shall bind/seal on earth, shall be bound/sealed in heaven. If you put that retainer fee upon them, again legal
terminology. I will honor it in heaven.
If you bind them here in Christ in truth. If you seal/bind in their forhead, to seal is to set a seal upon ones mind. Talking about a seal that can not be broken. For it is impossible to go back. The flesh will drag you down but your mind is not going back.

Matt 16:19 is about spiritual warfare and is not talking about, "heaven", where God resides, but the heavenly places where satan rules. If you check the Greek for heaven in that verse, you'll find that it's plural, "For we wrestle not against flesh and and blood, but against powers, against the rules of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in heavenly places".

@Mike and Leah. We have the power to overcome the devil. This is very different to charismatic "binding" of the devil, as the Word makes it clear, he will be bound AFTER Jesus returns. And he will be bound by an angel.
We are given the power to resist him and overcome his fiery darts and manipulation.
If we had ALL power over the devil, why does an angel need to bind him AFTER Jesus returns?
We have ALL power over our minds, hearts and words, through Christ...which is sufficient.

I was having issues with a demon and said the Lord rebuke you and nothing happened. It only left when I said I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ. Not saying your wrong because the bible does back up what your saying, but using that term has never worked for me.

I find a few issues with your interpretation. Notice when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, and Satan was defeated by the Word, Satan fled until "an opportune time". Demons always come back. When an unclean spirit is cast out of a man it returns with seven stronger demons. Though a person is free from a demon, if that person leaves an open door, they will undoubtedly be oppressed once more. Submitting to God is not a cure-all either, for one can submit in the morning, but by evening they revert back to their old position.
Also, rebuking an unclean spirit is chiding, under the authority of Jesus Christ, that demon for oppressing one who is created in the image and likeness of God. In effect, it is saying, "What do you think you are doing here? You ought to know better than to torment this person. Now you must go." When Michael said, The Lord rebuke you, it is the same as when a child of God declares, I rebuke you, demon, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Lastly, whether a person is a child of God or not, if a door is left open, a demon can easily access that individual. Why else would Peter caution believers to be vigilant of this roaring lion?
Of course, satan ( and his demons) cannot be bound in one place yet, however, the context of the scripture you are referring to is that we can incapacitate satan from carrying out a particular activity each point in time. That does not mean he is bound and made immobile. NO!!. Satan has the authorization from God to do what he is doing right now until he is bound by God at the appointed time. The Bible says we have the authority to incapacitate (prevent him from carrying out a certain activity) him on a case by case basis by virtue of delegated authority received from Jesus. Resisting the devil is a different matter entirely. You resist the devil through the knowledge of the Word of God in you which you deploy to counter any moves he is making towards you.
You need to provide a scriptural basis for your argument- it sounds good but there isn’t any evidence of that at all. Even if we had some authority over Satan, by your own admission you’ve stated that he has been given authority by God to do what he is doing. Therefore we would have two executive orders that contradict each other- and we know that God is not the author of confusion. In summary, we have no authority over the devil at all- we are simply commanded to resist him while drawing close to God. Let’s leave the binding of our enemy to God.

As believers we have a right to call people to faith in the work Jesus has done.
There is a lot of misunderstanding, and lack of knowledge, but the terminology has purpose. Some things may be termed improperly, but it is understood by the spirit even if it isn't understood in the mind.
Our ancestors did this constantly because we were not allowed to read. So, we had terms that helped us to understand what we fully and ACTUALLY experienced.
Now, thank you for proper terminology. It is important, but the grace it took to help us fight through slavery is even more important. I thank God our ancestors were able to "bind the devil" enough for your forefathers not to kill themselves and you can be born to look down on what God used to carry us through.

That last paragraph nails it for me. Instead of a Living relationship many have reduced the New Birth to literature
It pains me to see this in the chat- we have no right to dictate to God who He is and who He is not. No one is REDUCING Christ to anything- a definition is a definition. What our ancestors went through; our combined human and spiritual experiences cannot be elevated to the Word of God. God in His mercy and Grace may have allowed ignorance in the past because He knows our hearts, but we do not have that same excuse.
This complaint is like a teacher who gives his students a dictionary to help them navigate words they don’t understand, and having them retort that they can use their own experiences to define things they don’t even understand.
None of us have that right. It’s much easier to get a Greek thesaurus and look it up; if after doing that you can genuinely say that a person is wrong then…fair game. This, however…is just plain stubbornness with a touch of pride.

Christianity in itself is an experience. How do we know that someone is born again? We see the fruit of transformation- that is the fruit of the spirit. Their experience is that of righteous, joyous and fruitful living. This then VALIDATES (not inform) the doctrine of NEW BIRTH.
To then deny experience nullifies Christianity. It’s nothing more than a strawman to claim everyone is building doctrine out of experiences

The devil laughs so very hard and people who think they can bind satan. First of all, nowhere in the bible has God allowed, or commanded or even permitted us to TALK TO THE DEVIL. The only thing we are to do according to Ephesians 6 is to Resist the devil and to stand against the devil. Our defense is our offense. And can you imagine the devil thinking this: He can't even get his kids to obey him, and he is binding me? lol Scripture is clear that we are no match for the devil. Does this mean if I ask God, in Jesus' name, to fly like a bird, tomorrow, that I would be able to fly? And if I can't fly tomorrow, is Jesus a liar?
As believers, we have a duty to get deep into the word. Not just a surface level recitation of the text.
That said, returning to the question, I will indeed fly (someday) if I ask in Jesus' name, because He cannot lie. I cannot however, bind Him to making me fly tomorrow. That simple. I am guaranteed to fly in His Kingdom.
Similarly, Satan will be bound, released and then destroyed. Our incessant 'binding' will not alter the already established order. Revelation 20:1-10 outlines when he will be bound, who will bind him, and how beautiful the world will be when he is actually bound. It tells us how deceived the world will be again when he is loosed, and also his final destruction. In short, he is not currently bound, and no amount of charismatic utterances will change that. But he will be, in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Don't be swayed by clout chasing Satan binders. The WORD of God, as presented to us in the Holy Bible is TRUTH and Spirit. Stick to it and be blessed !🙏🤗

He isn't necessarily afraid of us, but he's not dumb enough to keep attacking an immovable wall. He's voraciously and violently cunning, and he understands he can get to you by attacking the weakest part of the wall; someone you care about. At least that's the issue with someone like me who is insanely devoted, even as I constantly mess up... It's in my nature, and it's also in my nature for my heart to break by the pain of others. The worst and easiest way for Satan to get to you is to attack the one already on the floor, cursing you to watch someone slowly pass away. These bindings, I feel, are more or less one of two things:
Profiteering
A coping mechanism
I bind the devil by being a wall, but it doesn't mean he can't hurt you... Maybe if you were completely alone and without care of others would one be unattainably immune, but what Christian would one be in that scenario?
