- Hand carving a largemouth bass from pine I think. I actually decided to talk in this one because a couple of you said you wanted to hear my angelic voice so if I should shut up in future videos do let me know
As a carver with over a quarter of a century of experience I will start by saying I like what your doing. The more you make, the more you learn. I believe you will find a life-long pleasure if you start observing and practicing good work habits.
All air born dust with long-term exposure, will result negatively to your health.
Some woods and the dust from them are highly toxic. To name a few, willow, redwood, cocobolo, and many more.
So, I ask of you to immediately start utilizing basic safety equipment such as eye protection and dust masks every session of carving.
A clean work space and proper lighting will help you find more enjoyment doing what I also enjoy.
Keep your knives sharp, hone often, and let the chips fly.
Do you have any ppe that you’d recommended?
Any hardware store, walmart, etc, will have adequate ppe for everyday use. Eyeware should have an air gap, if it fits too close, fogging will be a problem. Soft nose pads will help keep the glasses from slipping down. Dustmasks, I like 3m,n95s with the air valve in the center. This will also help cut down on fogging. Keep up the good work.
You have earned another sub keep up the good work
Glad to hear it hope you enjoy what’s to come!
