Beautiful work, and dang that's big! The expanding foam for the hill was genius, and the statues are dead ringers for the greybeard statues in Sovngarde - maybe Shor's hall for a future project? ;) I also like the way you aged the place with vegetation. Couple of ideas which might come in handy. Polyfiller isn't exactly an adhesive but it grabs things fairly well when it's wet, so if you drop sand, sawdust or chunks of bark on it it will stick them in place; that saves you some time as you can usually avoid having to go over everything with glue once the filler dries. Sand and sawdust also help it dry faster, and of course if you have time you can always go over that and give yourself more texture. Second idea I got watching you carve the steps was that it would probably have been much faster - definitely not prettier - to cut the tiers out of foamboard and lay them on top of each other, as well as cutting slots for the walls in them rather than cutting space for the steps into the walls. You don't get the nice uneven stones for free, but it would be easy to shape them this way - actually I'm sure your guest on this weekend's livestream will show you :)

For anyone who ever decides to try the expanding foam on their own builds, a dremel rotary tool fitted with a small wire brush is a very, very fast way to create fantastic textures for rock. I learned the technique while building terrariums for my dart frogs, but it works just as well for gaming terrain. Just make sure you have the hose of a vacuum next to where you're carving with the rotary tool, as it makes a fluffy foam dust that will go everywhere if you don't use the vacuum to suck it up. I usually have my tool in one hand and the vacuum in the other, which does a fine job of preventing my kitchen table from looking that it was hit by a snowstorm of foam particles.
Really beautiful job on this one!!! Your dad made it super atmospheric too, thoroughly enjoyed! Ps a possible money saving tip , when I was making things in college I used a tub of Poundland filler mixed with 3/4 of a bottle of Poundland wood glue to make a super strong flexible filler paste for my projects. Might be worth a try on a future build for not much money or effort 🤷🏻
This is my favorite! I'm going for this for my first build over the coming weeks. I'll try not to rip yours off too bad, but will for sure be using the techniques I've learned from you so it'll be fairly similar. Love the expanding foam idea - totally using that 🤣🤣

Doing research to attempt my own Amon Sul build, and this is the most comprehensive video I've seen so far. Really appreciated seeing how much you enjoyed building this project, and thanks for the legwork and inspiration. Those vines are a great touch.
Glad I could help! I hope you have fun with your build :D
Inspiring! I just started woodcarving and would love to do more LOTR-themed projects. And thanks for the recommendation for History of the Ages.
I'd love to see you do the Aragonath!
Thank you Mario! The lord of the rings is a great source of inspiration for creative projects! Yeah History of the ages is a great channel, I am always watching something form those guys... Argonath is an awesome idea!! Maybe I shall do that, just need to figure it out. Thanks for watching, feel free to sub for more videos like this :)
This is so cool
Thank you so much :)
This is piece of A.A.A.A.A.A.ART!
haha thanks :D
Thats a great tip! Thank you :D
Incredible
Thanks so much :)
Great build! Suggestion: If xmas doesn't deliver a Praxxon, a couple of these on the ol'ebay would pay for one...
Haha yeah... I’ve actually taken one commission already since I uploaded this video. Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😀
Awesome! Thank you! I am always looking for new tips and tricks to try out :D
10/10 this rules! Here from HotA
Thanks so much for coming to check it out ! HOTA rules, love their channel. More collaborations with them coming in 2021 :)
This is my favorite! I'm going for this for my first build over the coming weeks. I'll try not to rip yours off too bad, but will for sure be using the techniques I've learned from you so it'll be fairly similar. Love the expanding foam idea - totally using that 🤣🤣
Awesome! Did you start to build ?
@@Nat1videos I did, yeah. Flocking, epoxy and detailing yet to do. I lost a bit of momentum after a holiday, but gonna get back on with it soon 👍
@@GavC-137 Awesome! Please join my discord and share some progress pics , I would LOVE to see :D discord.gg/Xqj378DU
That turned out fantastic!!!
By the way, those are flagstones not cobblestones. Thanks
Thank you !! haha yes of course, I often mix up terms like this lol
That must've taken a looooonnnggg time, 😅
It did indeed .... but it was worth it :D
Could you make a video on how you carved the statues? I’m absolutely loving your channel btw
Hi Thank you! I might be able to do this soon...It may be something I throw up on my Patreon channel as my videos have started to lean towards bigger builds as that is what people seem to enjoy. Thanks for watching :)
