  • Is the Bible just another man-made book or is there strong, irrefutable evidence that shows it to be the word of God?

I'm a bit confused! I always believed Jesus was baptised & anointed at his baptism in the year 29CE or AD. Yet the guide said 3 times he was baptised in the year 27AD. Either I've got it wrong or he has!

Good observation and good question. Here is the reasoning behind why the Guide says that Jesus was baptised in 27 A.D. 1. Luke 3:1 actually tells is the date for Jesus' baptism. It says |Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene," Now all we need to know is the 1st year of Tiberius Caesars reign, which will then easily let us know what is the 15th yr of Tiberius Caeser. (As you read on, you'll see John the baptise baptises Jesus) From the below reference, notice TIBERIUS WAS CO-PRINCEPS, and IN YEAR 12A.D the ceremony declaring him such happened. 12 AD + 15 yrs brings us to 27 A.D (I ONLY QUOTE WIKI references which provide original sources to verify the information).
Historical Sources: In AD 7, Agrippa Postumus, a younger brother of Gaius and Lucius, was disowned by Augustus and banished to the island of Pianosa, to live in solitary confinement.[32][35] Thus, when in AD 13, the powers held by Tiberius were made equal, rather than second, to Augustus's own powers, he was for all intents and purposes a "co-princeps" with Augustus, and, in the event of the latter's passing, would simply continue to rule without an interregnum or possible upheaval.[36] However, according to Suetonius, after a two-year stint in Germania, which lasted from 10−12 AD,[37] "Tiberius returned and celebrated the triumph which he had postponed, accompanied also by his generals, for whom he had obtained the triumphal regalia. And before turning to enter the Capitol, he dismounted from his chariot and fell at the knees of his father, who was presiding over the ceremonies.”[38] "Since the consuls caused a law to be passed soon after this that he should govern the provinces jointly with Augustus and hold the census with him, he set out for Illyricum on the conclusion of the lustral ceremonies."[39]
Thus, according to Suetonius, these ceremonies and the declaration of his "co-princeps" took place in the year 12 AD, after Tiberius' return from Germania.[37]

Augustus Caesar died 19 August AD 14 and Tiberius was pronounced emperor 17 September AD 14. His 15th year was from 17 September 28 AD to 17 September 29 AD (CE if you like). You are correct and the guide was incorrect. In regards to that it was John who started his work in that year and later Jesus was baptised. As John was 6 months older it is felt that when both became 'about' 30 they started their work. Jesus therefore would have been in the latter half possibly at the end of the 15th year of Tiberius which fits the Daniel chronology mentioned in the video. Quite a complex discussion in itself though.
