Is it safe using CDs on a grinder? I mean it's made of a kind of brittle plastic and they have a habit of breaking easily. The idea is good though.

Thank you for your comment and concern! You’re right that CDs are made from brittle polycarbonate plastic, which can be prone to breaking under high stress. In my setup, I take several precautions to minimize any risk:
      1. **Reinforcement:** I reinforce the CD with a strong adhesive backing to add structural integrity.
      2. **Speed Control:** I use a variable speed angle grinder and operate it at a low speed to reduce the risk of the CD shattering.
      3. **Safety Gear:** I always wear protective gear, to protect against any potential breakage.
      4. **Testing:** I conduct thorough testing to ensure the setup is stable before using it for sharpening.
That said, it's important to proceed with caution and prioritize safety. If you decide to try this method, make sure to take similar precautions or consider alternative materials specifically designed for angle grinders. Thanks again for your input!

What gritt paper is used to sharpen

Thank you for your question! In this video, I used 1000 grit sandpaper to sharpen the knife. Generally, for sharpening knives, different grits are used depending on the stage of sharpening:
Coarse Grit (200-400): Used for repairing damaged edges or reshaping.
Medium Grit (600-1000): Used for sharpening and refining the edge.
Fine Grit (1200-3000): Used for polishing and honing to achieve a razor-sharp edge.
In this experiment, I started with 1000 grit for a balanced sharpening effect. For even smoother sharpening, you can create additional discs with higher grits (such as 2000 or 3000) and work your way up to finer grits for a polished finish.
      Safety Precautions:
Always wear protective gear such as safety goggles and gloves when using power tools like an angle grinder.
Secure the knife firmly to avoid accidents.
Be mindful of the speed and pressure applied to prevent overheating the blade or damaging the sandpaper disc.
Remember, this was an experimental method, so proceed with caution and make sure to prioritize safety!

@@wowdr11 well before you commented I did some more reasearch to add after 1000 if you further 1200 grit and so on higher the grit better the sharpness and believe me after your video I tried that and my souls says well done boy..

or you can just sharpen on the bottom of a ceramic mug or buy a whetstone for the same price as the sandpaper without making something stupid and dangerous
