Dear David and Tim, Thank you for taking the time to show us about porcelain. I, someday, would like to own a cup or something with those repair staples in it. David Harper's channel is the best! Everyone have fun today wherever you are!
I am going to join the hoard requesting this man back on your channel. I love ceramics always have & sell mainly the European stuff myself. But Chinese has been something I have struggled to understand. This man in only 10min has helped. More please!
Well Done David. Be sure to have him again! Maybe you could get him and Peter Combs on a Zoom call and swap stories? It would be an interview for posterity.
Hello David, this is just wonderful! So much information and knowledge conveyed in such a short video. Dr. Foster is a fascinating character and his passion for Chinese porcelain is infectious! In fact, I've been "infected" 😁for a few years now, through Peter Combs! Thanks again David, for your great series of videos...
I agree with the other comments on Tim's knowledge, this expert knows his stuff. Must do another video, or two, or three. Keep up the the good work, thanks
Absolutely fascinating, 👍. My family used to be in the Trade, & Mum had a small but beautiful collection of Chinese porcelain and she would buy an occasional piece that was damaged as it didn’t take away any of its inherent beauty
What I love about this subject matter, and what I think was missed here is how everything changes as each Emperor changes, you have several centuries of fine hard paste porcelain which is completely different during different reigns, which also makes it a ridiculously massive subject matter. I really love Republic era porcelain, when the imperial system died and the potters and painters were able to go out and setup their workshops, you get more interesting and varied things randomly turn up and its quite rewarding being able to spot them.
Chinese porcelain isn't my strong suit in the slightest, but it's beautiful stuff. Makng it sounds like pie baking in a wood oven, only worse. Judging wood fire temps from flame colors isn't the easiest trick to pull off.
A good interview, he knows his stuff. Excellent advice.
Thank you Peter, much appreciated
A master class in 10 minutes; cheers Dr Tim!

Good idea
What a wonderfully informative interview; I would love to see another video featuring this man. Thanks so much David.
Glad you enjoyed it!

My pleasure!
Thanks to this video, I extracted two gilded little china cups from a dusty box today in the local junk shop. Thanks you Dr Forster and Mr Harper
Love to hear that, thank you
Great dealer, you can tell he LOVES Chinese porcelain!! Great interview, thanks
Thanks for watching!
"Buy a damaged piece, take it home and live with it". Welcome to my home. That's the very best advice, and aimed at true lovers of things old.😁
Well said!
Very good to hear the wise words of my old tutor after all these years. You must get Captain Tim on again.
I agree with the other comments on Tim's knowledge, this expert knows his stuff. Must do another video, or two, or three. Keep up the the good work, thanks
Thanks, will do!

Wish I could visit his stall, very interesting.

You’re right, it’s such a huge subject. I will chat again to Tim and we’ll cover more
Loved this!
How knowledgeable so interesting thanks for sharing
My pleasure
Finally we got him to do a piece, he is one of the foremost experts in his field, I just wish he would keep his stall a bit tidier!
Fussing ,dusting and tidying = breakages
@@sobraine123 Well that all depends how careful you are!
What a delightfull man. He was a little hard to hear sometimes and the text did not appear.
سلام. من یک گلدان قدیمی دوران کیان لونگ کشور چین را دارم ، چگونه باید بفروشم. متشکرم

Annoying background chatter
It’s a very busy antiques Centre. No special camera, no set up, no preparation, no script. Just a genuine expert and a real chat filmed on my phone
Another great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
