I've caught tigers, brook, and rainbows in the lake. I've also had a skunk day there too. Never been up the creek, so I'll have to keep it in mind next visit. Thanks for sharing!

My brother and I fished a lot of small streams in north central Colorado and had a great time. Rarely saw anyone else as the waters were deemed "too small". Some drainages had brookies and the next one over the ridge would hold only cutthroat trout. Lots of good memories. Thanks for taking us along.
We discovered some small streams (if you can call them that) hold trout here in the middle of residencies, super shallow. I’m going to focus on that for sure. Sometimes it is all about how you catch the fish and not the size of the catch
In The Driftless this would me a trout fisherman’s fantasy come true. We have tiger trout but they are extremely rare and naturally occurring. I have yet to catch one.

Small creeks away from people, can't beat it. Of course a large fish is usually 6 inches
Fun rig - Use a 1 inch twister tail grub, on a fly hook with a chartreuse sliding bead ahead of the hook.
or tye a similar fly !

Curious small mountain creek dork question - why the brookie hostility? Do they crowd out the cutthroats?
Non-native fish; they aren't supposed to be there. I'd feel the same way about browns and rainbows if they started showing up in northern Maine.
Was wondering myself, in Virginia, the only native trout is a brookie !

Ben you should do a follow up episode on the morality of ditching some brook trout in favor of native cutthroat. The morality of it, etc.
I felt like that was a standup moment in this episode. I can’t tell you how many times I’m looking for native cutthroat and can only find brook trout.
