We're being warned to brace for even more chaotic conditions closer to Sydney with the state's flood crisis now turning deadly.
Lismore, the scene of yesterday's devastation, has been hit by more heartache. An elderly woman has become the first confirmed death.
Today, it was residents of Ballina and Woodburn who were forced to watch as their homes disappeared. But there were acts of heroism, and signs of hope, with lives saved and more than a thousand rescues so far.
