Normally a band would come out with a song like this after 20/30 years of touring, recording etc but Iron Maiden did so much recording and travelling around the world in such a short time. 5 albums in 5 years and those albums are arguably some of their best and most beloved material and the fact they were young guys in their 20"s with the world at their feet singing about lost time, regrets, priorities. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. But their sacrifice paid off and got them to were they are today. Live shows and word of mouth made them famous. Not some hand picked, pre determined talent show or by being the hot new thing on MTV and the radio but with graft.
Yes bro finally. Final Frontier as an album is so overlooked. Especially When The Wild Wind Blows. A lot of the songs are great it's just the mix and the tempo of some tracks just feel off. Like for example When The Wild Wind Blows studio version is a good song but the live En Vivo version is almost like a different song entirely.
Adrian Smith is an amazing guitar player is everything I've heard him play is mind blowing but there is just something about the solo on this track that is just beyond anything else I've ever heard him play. I can't really explain it but this just gives me a shot of extra intensity every time!
In my opinion 2 of the best Adrian Smith solo's ever are Stranger in a strange land, and The writings on the wall (which is worth it just for the video alone)
