I first read about Jennifer Batten in Guitar Player magazine, which featured a 'flexi disk' of her playing. She blew me away with her fluidity, speed and outright command of the guitar. I was fortunate enough to meet Steve Lynch in New Zealand (where I live) and picked up his two handed tapping method. He recounted his time with Jennifer, who he referred to as a 'monster' of a player. She is by far my favorite female axeslinger, and in my top list of all time greatest guitarists. This was so great to watch, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for her and Beth Marlis, whose MIT book I have. Thanks for the insight into a 'rock legend'. I pray God bless and protect you all abundantly, thanks Beth, I've learnt a lot from you.
Thanks so much for your comments! I agree - Jennifer is one the finest guitarists of her generation. To call her "world-class" doesn't begin to do justice to her talent and versatility. What a monster!! Thanks (too) for your kind words about me- if I've been able to help you be a better musician, that makes my day! - B.
Love love love Jen! She inspired me as a young kid, she was the first shredding female I ever saw(or heard of). I mean, come on! She's the ONLY PERSON to play second guitar with Beck. I remember writing a lit paper about her in highschool (2009). Jen has been such a big role model for me. I remember joining her Fan club as a 13yrold. The package came with this awesome sticker, and I distinctly remember slapping it on my first electric guitar!! I was so happy to educate everyone I meet about her and blowing their minds with her Cd " Tribal Rage: Momentum". I finally got to meet her last year when she played with UJR and Andy Timmins in Denver,Co. It made my life!! Thanks for inspiring me to play Jenn, I owe all my shows and dedication to you. GIRLS ROCK!
Jennifer is one of the most exciting guitarists I have ever seen. I saw her in Yokohama, Japan live with Michael Jackson in the late '80s. Together they brought down the house. She played some blistering licks. She will always have my respect.
Great Job Beth!! Brings back a lot of good memories. Jennifer was the commencement speaker the year I graduated. It was also the last time I got to see Tommy Tedesco, among a couple others.
What an absolute fucking badass, had no idea who she was before but im glad i do now.
Great work ethic. It paid off at first she didn’t make in to git she went and learns what she needed and came back. Didn’t give up. Inspiring story.
Beautiful Jennifer, awesome guitarist, artist, very inspiring.

I loved the photos of all those old method books. I had quite a few of them around the house.
Jennifer B is one of the best musicians I've heard. She makes music sound different, which is the number one goal of all of us.
Merci pour cette vidéo. Bonne année 2023!
