- DISABLED MAN STUNNED, Hadn't seen his Back Yard or Driveway in YEARS!
It’s been years since this Disabled Veteran has been able to see his backyard and driveway. He is in a wheelchair and no one has been willing to stop by and help him out. I dug out all the thick dirt and grass on the driveway, mowed the overgrown grass and Wilson’s Tree Service cut down the big tree over his porch. He was STUNNED at the results and was left in tears when this happened….
I was concerned he had squatters on his Overgrown Property - • NOBODY would mow this ...

As a Vietnam veteran myself, I really appreciate you guys helping this fellow so much. It means a lot to me to see the change in how folks treat veterans now from how it was in those days of the Vietnam era. Thank you.

I hate to say this after your extreme efforts, but he still needs trash & junk removal. Maybe ½ a dumpster or a box truck full hauled off. *Did anyone inspect his ramp for wood rot? **Did you ever contact a local Boy Scout Troop for volunteers? Yes, the problem with the junk through the yard is equally as pressing, if not more so, as the overgrown lawn and fallen tree. There is a LOT of junk, debris needing removal. Hopefully someone steps up.

I think you guys did great but why not see if you can’t get someone to haul away the garbage he will never use and that is just an eyesore to the work you’ve done.

@@OutdoorswithErik maybe talk to a local scrap metal merchant, they might send a truck around to take away the old drums and gas bottles for scrap

In Ohio counties there are services that help with the elderly/disabled with safety hazards in and around their homes if they are lower income.
That whole back porch is a hazard and some organization could surely help this fella inside and out to bring the place up to acceptable safety levels for someone in a wheelchair.
His yard looks so much better. Our veterans have done so much for us, and I appreciate you helping him. I am happy that he has the freedom to enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment. Thank you, Erik and Mark!

Awesome! Great job on a tough driveway, Erik! Kudos to Wilson's as well! Hopefully some local groups can step in and help him get the property cleaned up the rest of the way. Amazing what a large group can get accomplished in just one day.

I was just thinking now to get some of that stuff that is just rusting away out of there and maybe that one shed taken out. That would really open up that yard. Great job guys.
Sometimes the local Boy Scout troop is looking for a project. Maybe they could help organize and clean up
some of the debris that has collected.

It’s absolutely scandalous and appalling how our so called government has abandoned our veterans. Some folks need to be held to account… 🙏🙏 Great job Erik and Wilson’s Tree Service, way to step up and help our precious veterans! And thank you sir for your service to our country!

Coming from a family of Veterans I can not tell you what it means to all of us to see you both work so hard for one of us. By that l mean the military family (families). Just putting this out there if there is more that you see or feel that he needs done to make his life better, easier PLEASE put it.out for all of us who could and would donate to him or to you to help out more Veterans in your community. Just a thought from someone who has been around a very long time, why is it that people in wheel chairs or who have other physical limitations can drive cars trucks,and SUV's with all sorts of modifications, but we can't come up with a lawnmower or other yard tools for them? Something so simple could mean so much to them. As I said just a thought.

Erik that was a helluva job that yourself and the treeman and his son did. Our veterans should be placed in high note. For everything they've done for our country, the sacrifices, the journeys they conquered. I thank them all. If we see vets anywhere we thank them, pay for their meals at restaurants, pay their groceries. We're not wealthy, working class people that appreciate our freedom and that comes from our vets. The yard looks fantastic and I'm sure he was overwhelmed with happiness. Thank you Erik. Thank you vets.

These are people who need help. Not for mothers with children who just don't feel like tending to the garden. Old people and the disabled need help. These are the right ones.

Once they have become a veteran should already be qualified to get this kind of service and be offered to get this service free because of being a vet should not be waiting till it's this bad before we help the ones that were there for us
You guys did a wonderful job getting the tree cut, trimming, and mowing! Now I agree that next if you could gather together some people with trucks to come and haul off the unwanted things in the yard like those barrels and such it would be another worry off his mind! We really have to help out our elders and veterans and those disabled with the difficult stuff in their lives. God Bless!

A very noble effort to take care of our elderly and our disabled veterans. Who could use the help more? Also, if I may suggest. My guess is that you'll be back here again. This time you brought in a much needed tree expert. Maybe on your next visit, you could align with 1 or more trash removal companies to take down the dilapidated out buildings and remove all the trash. If this man ever has to move, he'll need to have a much cleaner property to get top dollar. One man's idea.
The veteran wasn't the only one who teared up at the end, well done to all involved.
