- *Warren Gardens Hood Vlog*
Join me as I walk through Warren Gardens with @reese7v, who shares his experiences growing up in the neighborhood and his favorite memories. We dive into the Boston rap scene, discussing the misconception that drill is the only way to make music and addressing the belief among Boston people that they haven’t taken any influence from New York.

Born in Dorchester and left at 15 to Brooklyn NY. I still remember the streets and how fierce it used to be. People who don’t know Boston would think it’s a soft place with nothing going on. lol

Definitely not the single worse hood in Boston. Roxbury in general is one of the worse sections of Boston & is the heart of the city . Dorchester has the most murders but is also bigger .
Mission hill or mattapan i thought had the most bodies idk being a townie i know the areas pretty well dot is up there

I grew up in WG in the mid 70’s when we had block parties every weekend and the neighborhood wasn’t what it is now or was 10-15 yrs ago. WG was one big family and the store belonged to Jesse Waters. We use to say… I’m going to sunrise (the red store). Family Day in WG was when every house cooked out and everyone participated. I lived in WG until I was 25ish on Fenno!! WG4life!!!
Back in in the day, charlame had beef with Humboldt. Parts of Charlame was right down the street from Warren Gardens.
I love being from Mass. It’s about time. Keep showing the rest otherwise. I liked this interview because so many people have made the City look Goofy as if us flavored people do not exist. Nobody trys to make their neighborhood ghetto, dumbest shit I ever herd. You ether live in a sketchy area or you don't.
I think it's embarrassing too, but unfortunately, everything they're saying is true. This part of boston was especially rough from the 80s through 2000s. The movie "in too deep" with ll cool j, is a true story from boston. But they hanged the location to Cincinnati in the movie for some reason.

Sunrise to midnight if I recall right. That store has been there since at least the 1940's. I lived on Rockland St until I was three, my family was all over that neighborhood, there were even Gypsies throughout Roxbury as well as the South End. There was the Dale St Tavern that was directly across from where McDonald's is. Rockland was a through street to Warren before they built Warren Gardens. Roxbury Mall is a dug out hole. There were red brick apartments and stores from Walnut Ave to Townsend St. Nothing but houses through out the Bower St area which is where the mall is now. Have to cut this short too much to tell.
I used too sing and meet every Monday with my manager chickie Goldberg in Boston mass, knew a few Boston is not for the weak, thank God I was weak or stupid 1982 through 1984 but just like any city or town country there's crazys killers stickup boys you just got too be street wises, aware not trust every damn body no matter how friendly

All the gates are up blocking the street exits because there were so many shootings that was their way for the police to catch ppl and they couldn’t run through. I think that’s what makes Boston the Realest City in the World!
Because we never were followers of silly National trends. Any criminal can wear any bandanna over their face it’s all about Hats *B*🧢 *Nd*

I grew up in Massachusetts, I've lived in probably 15!different towns and cities by now but watching these vlogs is pretty cool. Black white or brown, poor or middle class we all did the same as kids and teens. Kind of funny the only difference is what we decided to do after the first time we got into real trouble or did drugs. Some of us decided to live better lives others keep repeating the same shit. Sad.
This hood looks clean and peaceful but that don't mean is not dangerous.. Philly looks crazy and dangerous
I feel the city of Philly could care less about the nasty looking hoods.. plus the drugs and the junkies been took over in like the 80s.. Boston does have Methadone Mile AKA Mass ave, it's a whole strip in the middle of Boston that are filled with tents and junkies. Like how LA has Skid Row.

I truly recomend you go to lawrence when you come to mass next. I can name you multiple places where it looks more hood (strictly cause people are complaining about that. Lawrence, holyoke/ springfield, brockton, and new bedford for mass. Lawrence is really the bronx of massachusetts. Youll understand when you go, and people from the bronx are aware of lawrence cause they often have family there.
Ill also mention places in rhode island and connecticut, since theyre new england as well.
For rhode island, id recomend central falls first, then pawtucket, and various place in the south and west side of providence. The culture in rhode island is very interesting. It has similarities to mass, but also a lot of its own stuff. For connecticut, id recomend waterbury, hartford, and brudgeport.
Those neighborhoods in boston are 100% the hood. But as boston started getting gentrified after 2008, the hood shrunk, a lot of people moved to the places i named, and the city put a lot of work into making projects, schools, parks, sidewalks, and streets and stuff nicer as far as looks go. The modern day hood in boston reminds me a lot of the modern day hood in dc. Theyre comparable if youve visited both places. The violence is up and down.there have been A LOT of big ricos in the past 4 years in boston. This part of boston was very dangerous in the 80s through 2000s. Regardlessly, theres still gun violence, drugs, crime and poverty all through there. You can easily get inti trouble, and a lot of people are on section 8. However, if things keep trending the way they have, there will hardly be a hood in boston, aside for a few projects. The hood will entirely move to the other cities i listed.
@@mattymatt6970 thank you for that feed back ! I will try and connect with people from other parts of the New England next time I come by . So many places I need to check out !
@@kodakblowup those cities are further broken down by ethnicity typically. Lawrence is almost exclusively dominican and puerto rican. It's over 80% Latino. Brockton is majority black, mostly cape verdeans and then haitians. Springfield and holyoke are puerto rican. You'll see. The area is kinda self segregated. The hood in boston is cool. They have their own slang and a lot of history, including malcolm x living in roxbury for a long time, which is shown in the beginning portion of rhe malcolm x movie when he was a criminal. But there's a lot to check out elsewhere too. It's too bad there's so much hatred in the area. I think it's cause the region never got its shine, and the rest of the country doesn't take it seriously because of it. I'm not from the hood. I'm just from the area and have traveled the area and the rest of the country a lot. I'm very knowledgeable on cultural specifics to regions. I could name way more places for you. But I really wanted to give you the main cliff notes. I appreciate you visiting and filming.
@@mattymatt6970 yessir thank you for that information again it’s good to know that . I’m going make some moves outta Boston next trip and see what you were telling me . Lawerence doesn’t sound like a bad idea or Rhoad Island
@@kodakblowup word. Good shit
@@kodakblowup last message on this. Hartford is probably the most hood spot in new england to be real. I'm from mass myself. Hartford consistently makes it very high on the most dangerous as well as poorest cities lists in america every year. I'm always much more interested in unique cultures to areas tho. Lawrence and brockton are really good spots for unique hood cultures. I think lawrence is the right choice for the next place to visit. You won't be disappointed.
It’s mad funny being from Boston but living out in places like KC and Cali and realizing how soft Boston is and the murder rate difference compared to other places is way less. Mf said they in the trenches and live in nice ass lookin townhouses/condos
