I have a similar model IFP-995. The battery life isn't what it once was when I bought it in 2005. The dimensions of the original battery are: 50 mm x 30 mm x 6 to 7 mm thick. The battery you used looks like a tight fit although it's working. I made note of the model number. I was thinking about modifying a cell phone battery that is close to the original dimensions but the question I'm having is the charging circuit on the i-river circuit board or part of the battery? The problem these days is that the original file manager doesn't work past windows XP but there is a Firmware V1.85 (MSC version) update that says it will configure the player as a hard drive which would make transferring files a lot easier. I haven't done it yet as of this writing. It's probably a good idea to back up anything that's on the player before attempting that. Thanks for posting this.
