An unbelievably beautiful woman who is into underground black metal subculture, and she has a stunning voice, and this all is covered with a layer of Nordic folk... What else could we ask for? One of the most amazing musical acts of today...
Yes, but sadly the second album didn't live up to 'M'. It's not bad by any means, it just seems like she tried to fix an already amazing and well balanced album. It's a bit too experimental for me, and it's a bit too forced as if she tried to sound like Chelsea Wolfe.

I don't usually listen to this kind of music but I have to say that this is special. The band is symmetrical. And the voice is completely ambiguous. Touched a nerve never touched before. Thank you!!

These guys are really interesting. It looks like she uses two mics - the first one for clean vocals w/a nice ethereal reverb and the other for screams.
I don't care if people hate her or love her...everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am a fan of music in general, with metal being my favorite genre. I like her singing and her music...even the indie rock stuff with Ex Cops and her solo pop stuff. She is beautiful and her voice is mesmerizing. If she decided to do country music, I'd probably like that too haha! Cheers!
No, necroposers are not "entitled to their opinion". Whoever shits on acts like Myrkur or Sylvaine is not a true black metal person. Or so I think, being in my thirties, hardcore black metaller for two decades, and with this subculture being a part of my identity. Usually the so calle "true and cult" people are in this for what it is called nowadays "clout" and leave somewhere along the way, or live in the nineties their whole life.
Haven't decided yet if this is for me or not. But this is definitly unique in a very good way!

Don't listen to 1389 Gaming, that dude is a complete imbecile that can't see the whole picture. Nowadays Myrkur stopped having the same hate as with "M". The hate she received was mainly because of a misdirected marketing, Relapse was trying to sell it as Black Metal, which it is not, and so the group of interest would be the people that listen to BM. If this was marketed as post- Black, like Deafhaven, or atmospheric post-metal, like Chelsea Wolfe the market would be on the spot and there would be no haters (also the label would make much less money because the lack of haters means lack of talk and lack of talk means lack of potential sells). The fact that the band uses occasionally a BM typical kind of sound doesn't actually make it BM.
The same happened before so many times, labels misdirect the buyers labeling something for the quick buy. Nickleback was on Roadrunner selling and playing alongside with Sepultura and Slayer, instead of being in Bush/Creed/Foo Fighter crowd, that's why many people still hate them even though they're quite harmless. Nu-Metal was sold along with Metallica, instead of being with Body Count, Suicidal Tendencies or even Marilyn Manson. What did that make? In one side, created a huge amount of haters that wouldn't have heard this musics if it wasn't for the misdirection; on the other side made the bands so popular that the labels made a huge amount of profit.
Me personally, didn't actually like "M", was quite feelingless for me, but I'm still in love with "Mareridt".

Originale, puissante et éthérée sont les mots qui me viennent pour cette musique. C'est rare de voir des chanteuses passer du lyrique au grunt sans craindre pour leur image ou leurs cordes vocales, triple bravo ! En fait, on voit que ça vient des tripes, c'est ce qui compte. Les compos sont très mélodiques, du black, du médiéval, du folk... Les musiciens assurent bien. Un chouette moment, j'aurais adoré y être !

Well its not people here because the one who hate her aren't watching her. She used to get asked, nearly harassed, in interviews about not being a real black metal artist. She'd always respond by saying she doesn't give a fuck and makes what she wants.

@@Vekta2 Personally, I don't care what anybody listens to. My son likes Rachel Platten and Lukas Graham and I'm not going to mock him for it. I actually started learning to play 7 years old on guitar and my son is learning the piano parts and we have fun playing it together.

Thanks for releasing this! One of the most intense and memorable gigs I've seen in Wacken last year. Too bad people argue so much about Myrkur being true or not or if they are actually black metal... Completely unimportant imho, as for me it is just great music that I like a lot. The live sound was indeed much better, btw. Oh, and what's wrong with those first row people filming whole gigs with their phones? Why you attend concerts at all? Go watch streams and DVDs on your couch and stop bothering those who are there to actually enjoy the music.

Well, if this music came in time of Ulver's Bergtatt, it would have become classic and legend, but now it's just great folk-black (guys, seriously, style is described by its music sound, not by ideas or philosophy, so it's black, no matter how much you want it to be opposite). Girl has talent and guts to experiment.
Definitely not great, the songwriting is all over the place and the performance of the instruments is very mediocre in the albums.

@@ItsNotaTuhmah Define "great"? Music is art and art is subjective. There is no good/bad, best/worst, and there are no rules for songwriting to be "all over the place" with. There are only people and their favourites.
As for the performance, one of black metal's main recognisable aesthetics is going against the grain, and that means deliberately rough production values, sloppy playing, and simple riffs.
If you want to follow formulas and the like I'd garner that pop music is more up your street.
