    Thanks for the explanation, though I wanted to know more why you would choose a radiator cap with or without the pressure release valve. My mechanic suggested I buy the radiator cap without the valve and I don't know why. It seems like he is just either old-fashioned or suggesting a cheaper replacement radiator cap.

    I’m on my 3rd Motorad radiator cap. They seal once (once) if you have to open the system up, be prepared to replace the cap again, as they will not seal properly afterwards. The top gasket always leaks!

    Beware! Just recently changed a radiator cap and nearly destroyed the engine as it wouldn't allow the coolant to return to the radiator from the expansion tank and resulted in the engine getting hot as most of the coolant went out of the overflow in the expansion tank.

      @@aboodmki3 No I changed it to the correct psi for the car and it didn't solve the problem. I then put the original one back on and the problem went for a year. Anyway the problem just started again recently and this time I noticed a slight leak on the radiator. I changed the radiator and it's fine now.

    Mine looks like the second one from your left. It’s an older model 2005 Nissan Murano. I keep getting over spray on my engine. I thought by changing the cap and putting a better clamp on the overflow hose would help but still getting over spray. Can it be the pressure is releasing from the top of the cap? How do I fix that? Thanks!!

    Ive purchased multiple Rad Caps and when tested using my PSI tester none really hold up. I've got a 2010 FX35 and the rad PSI is 20psi.... ive ordered 3 rad caps, all OEM and they start to leak at 15PSi.... its super annoying because all my coolant ends up in the expansion tank. But i noticed the neck that cmaps onto the filler on the rap caps are a big "warped" not sure if thats normal, so i'm going to use a plier to straighten them and test.

    • @q-_-p.d-_-b
      @q-_-p.d-_-b 3 года назад

      12 bc you dont want to over pressurize the cooling system. Might cause a hose to come loose etc. But dont run on 12 for too long also bc you might be loosing coolant through the reservoir. Then you'll be low on coolant. Which will cause engine overheating and leading to heads warping and/or head gasket leaks.

    All these local auto parts store sell is garbage, brands I have never heard of, no one wants to sell quality parts because they cannot make 300% profit. I had to order a Stant Cap online, never go cheap on radiator caps, belts, hoses and batteries, these will all leave you stranded on the spot if they fail.

      Rock Auto is a good place to buy brand name at decent prices, but you won't really save much unless you stock up due to the shipment costs. I let the computer pick for me to save money on shipping , it works in my favor 80% of the time. Summit sells stuff at regular price but they usually include a 15% off coupon for your next order.

      Use only OEM Radiator caps or forget about it. Only aftermarket caps I would recommend in terms of quality compared to OEM is dorman caps. But 99% of the time they are the same price as OEM so just go with OEM.

    • @igotanimac1
      @igotanimac1 3 года назад +1

      @@MrP71 You have to get the Dornan products that specifically say Dorman OE Solutions. The ones that don't say that are just third party sellers that use the Dorman brand to sell their lower quality products. You also have to properly torque the parts and install them correctly per OE manual instructions. OEM is superior, but if you ever have to get aftermarket, only go with Dorman OE Solutions.
