I'm 30 today, hope I'm still cool. Also all the music in this video is from Patch Quest too, love it. Great game for real! And actually, while recording the footage for the background of this video I finally found that ONE last patch I was missing, so I've now 100% completed it!
Happy birthday! Thirties are still cool until whichever one makes your bones ache! Mine was 31. Jokes aside, this game looks great. Definitely gonna check it out.
I'm happy to see you shed light on smaller monster taming games there some good gems if you like exploration and metrovanias I recommend monster sanctuary its not long but it has a lot of replay value and the monsters are well made it has a small learning curve but its worth it.
@oklol3461 absolutely man. Its like that feeling of supporting a band when jts underground, going to all their shows and supporting them on an intimatly close level and then watching them as they finally get that gig that shoots them into the main stream and then going to that first mainstream show and seeing the crowd comparison. Gaming companies arent faceless anymore, individual companies are actually really involved with their fans and customers thru discord. Ghost of Tabor on VR is one that comes to mind, its still in beta and their discord is highly active with the devs who are actively talking and even playing the game with us players. These people are forming bonds with us, MEMORIES. And just recently qe got news that its finally going to be moving from APP LAB to the official Quest store. Seeing all that time weve put into something actually turn out to become something important is such a great feeling that i truely hope you feel one day, i wish that feeling of seeing something you love grow into something great onto everyone. ❤
It's really cool to see you cover Patch Quest, when I was watching the devlogs before release I thought it was shaping up to be a little generic but... It just works! It's such an incredibly solid and consistent game
Holy hell, did not expect to see patch quest here! As someone who’s followed the projects development since the first devlog, it’s so exciting to see it brought up and examined like this
You're a brave soul for venturing out of pokemon more despite your audience, and I love to see it! Here's my engagement comment. And thanks for doing this Lockstin!
I think it's more often called a "reverse bullet hell" or a survivors-like / Vampire Survivors knockoff, pick your poison, most people will understand what you mean.
I really like "bullet heaven" But his point was that this game is both bullet hell and bullet heaven at the same time, But I'd still call it bullet hell
One thing that was missed about Tadpog (my personal favourite monster) is that it’s also a pollywog, another word for tadpole. Really it’s name is like tadpole tadpole
13:35 lockstin really tried to pull a fast one on us with that hidden anhka reference. (If you can’t find it, go frame by frame around the time stamp I marked)
10:37 -Reminds me of Neopets that have been made into Jelly at the Lab Ray or through a Fountain Fairy Quest (there's also an unreleased Jelly Paint Brush we'll probably never see) and the inhabitants of Jelly World.- Disregard, there are no Jelly Neopets and Jelly World does not exist.
It's awesome seeing Patch Quest get played by more people, it's such a blast to play. I got to participate in making the game become what it is today in the discord among several other community members, so I have a lot of attachment to it. Poven and the Sweeteor are my children, so I'm glad to see them and the game in general getting out there into the world, lol
My favorite thing about these videos is that oftentimes the connections made feel like they weren't intentional which leads to a level of accidental genius that's always so fun to see, really shows just how much passion you have for each and every creature in this genre (also, on the note about how you are also your own bullet hell, that's just The Binding of Isaac in a nutshell)
I was surprised to see you covering this one! It's a great game but feels kinda obscure in monster taming circles. The developer has an amazing series of dev logs on his channel. Definitely worth a look.
11:55 Funny enough, bats have been used as bombs before, so this is even more fitting! Iirc some dentist in WW2 came up with the idea to strap incendiary bombs to bats, have them dropped over areas with lots of wood structures, and once they started to nest in them set them off. It was quietly discontinued as the Manhatten Project began, though.
Now I want a Wolphin! It took 30 years to give us an actual dolphin Pokemon, and this game gives us a cool hybrid based on Native American legends. That's so cool!
I just looked up what a wasgo is, and a wasgo seems to lean more towards the wolf side while akhults lean more towards the orca side, especially in their heads.
This is really nice content. I always like when there’s a variety of videos not saying your Pokémon ones are bad I can constantly go back to you watch some of them, but this was a treat
Probably not since that's an actual symbol in the runic alphabet Futhark and the curse mark in Berserk, while similar, is still different enough that I would not call it a reference to the manga.
Can't wait for you to cover Palworld. Haven't played it yet, but seeing the recognition it has gotten just makes me all hyped up to see you eventually cover it.
I originally had no interest in this game, but 3 minutes into watching your video I'm already sold and will be picking it up. Thanks for the recommendation!
Patchquest is one of those hidden gems that's been through a long iterative process and came out with a core that just works. The core gameplay is solid and the rest of the game is built to synchronize well with it.
Its not just Raptors Velosstrich and Fosstrich take influence from, there’ s also the Ornithomimids a.k.a those Ostrich looking Dinosaurs. Specifically Struthiomimus whose name means “ostrich Mimic”
Happy birthday. I want you to know that your videos have brought me plenty of joy and a lot of entertainment over. I find you a very comforting presence m
based on the title i thought it would be more palworld bashing like your more recent video, but i was pleasantly surprised to see just a positive video! good job man! game looks fun too! I haven't played it but i heard vampire survivors referred to as an auto-shooter, so maybe it's that genre?
I like when different portmanteau creature collecters have distinct naming conventions from each other despite the fact that they're all using puns edit:spelling
I followed Patch Quest's production and it was really fun and interesting. Can't wait to play this game! BTW isn't Vampire Survivors also a Bullet Heaven?
So I went to Steam to put the game in a wishlist and turns out it's already on my library. Probably got it on a bundle and didn't remember about it. Nice.
I'm 30 today, hope I'm still cool.

No mater what you are cool
Always, my dude. Always. ✊🏻
happy birthday still loving your fire emblem documentry
As a guy, who has followed the development of this game from its beta till now, it feels surreal watching this video.
I was about to comment the exact same thing, I remember watching the dev logs a while back !
watching a game in development be released and covered by a RUclipsr feels surreal?

I’ve been watching those devlogs for so long. This definitely feels weird
True
Glad to see Patch Quest still being mentioned by people, especially since this game is just beautiful in every light.
It's really cool to see you cover Patch Quest, when I was watching the devlogs before release I thought it was shaping up to be a little generic but... It just works! It's such an incredibly solid and consistent game
Fun fact: that wolf/orca thing can also be called an Akhlut.
Lockstin made a pseudo legendary based on it in his Kaskade region. I made a DnD based on it as well.
Reignbow is a king? So I guess you could say it's a Monarch Butterfly
I see what you did there.😊
Holy hell, did not expect to see patch quest here! As someone who’s followed the projects development since the first devlog, it’s so exciting to see it brought up and examined like this
13:34 Hey Gnoggin... Watcha got there?
You're a brave soul for venturing out of pokemon more despite your audience, and I love to see it! Here's my engagement comment. And thanks for doing this Lockstin!
I watched the Dev logs and so excited that this game is finally getting some love
Oooh, I like this art style! It's so expressive and so flat/stylized at the same time, like logo design. Fun.
I think it's more often called a "reverse bullet hell"
or a survivors-like / Vampire Survivors knockoff, pick your poison, most people will understand what you mean.
I really like "bullet heaven"

I love them all. They're all such little guys. It's also an interesting choice to make the types literally what type of animal they are.
Oh! I remember seeing a few of the devlogs on youtube, it's very nice being able to see the full game out now
3:51 Why is there a stock image of Jazza cutting a bonsai tree in the video? I still struggle to distinguish between Lockstin and him!

12:59 that picture in the corner is super awesome, I bet anyone with that specific picture as a profile would be so awesome and cool
11:55 Funny enough, bats have been used as bombs before, so this is even more fitting! Iirc some dentist in WW2 came up with the idea to strap incendiary bombs to bats, have them dropped over areas with lots of wood structures, and once they started to nest in them set them off. This looks equal parts fun and adorable, but it bothers me that most of their Rodent monsters are based off of things that aren't rodents lol
1:40 Funnily enough, hedgehogs are *also* not rodents.
Happy birthday Lockstin!! Hope you continue to make more videos like this.
Now I want a Wolphin! It took 30 years to give us an actual dolphin Pokemon, and this game gives us a cool hybrid based on Native American legends. That's so cool!
13:34 you ain’t slick
I have played this game for so long. It's so cool to see a big youtuber I like actually talking about it.
I love the Akhlut 'mons! 14:24
Please keep doin more Monster Taming Games videos! The Genre definitely needs more recognition honestly since it gets overshadowed by Pokemon.
Someone may have already mentioned this, but the red mark on Buzzerker might also be a reference to Berserk
13:13 Ah yes the angry squeaking frog lol.
I originally had no interest in this game, but 3 minutes into watching your video I'm already sold and will be picking it up. Thanks for the recommendation!
I love bullet heavens, never thought I'd see Pokemon Ranger with it too. I'll definitely pick up the game.
1:57 So... Just like Skutank?
I have been playing this game since beta or whenever it was free for the first time. This video is one of the wildest things I could’ve thought of
i did not expect to see jazza there with the bonsai
Who else is looking forward for Lockstin to be in one of Truegreen7’s video?
Copra looks like a ground type regional Arbok. Also whenever you say Ra, its pronounced as Rah
Banger ass game.
Sound design was and still is peak.
12:17 Muchomon says hi. Least I _think_ Muchomon is a penguin. It's a recolor of Penguinmon.
fun fact: saberfloof is the "missing link" because it was originally the only form before being split into three subspecies
Happy birthday! Usually it would be you who gets treated something nice, yet here you are delivering this beauty of a video!
Patchquest is one of those hidden gems that's been through a long iterative process and came out with a core that just works. The core gameplay is solid and the rest of the game is built to synchronize well with it.
The Scorpion one is cool, definatly the drill scince Scorpions dig really good
Fun fact: Bullet heaven is already the name of a game, and it's a bullet hell.
Shrubhog is so amusing to me
Its not just Raptors Velosstrich and Fosstrich take influence from, there’ s also the Ornithomimids a.k.a those Ostrich looking Dinosaurs. Specifically Struthiomimus whose name means “ostrich Mimic”
I remember this game from a while back, I think it was in early access? Idk. But cool to see its out now and getting some love.
And 🎉HAPPY BIRTHDAY🎉
No doubt your already working on a Palworld video. Its inevitable.
7:22 Okay, as a kid, I LEGIT came up with the same name and concept for this one.
Shelleton is a reference to Skeleturtle from the Godzilla series
Happy birthday. I want you to know that your videos have brought me plenty of joy and a lot of entertainment over. I find you a very comforting presence m
I’ve never even heard of this game, it looks cute.
The dev of the game needs to see this
based on the title i thought it would be more palworld bashing like your more recent video, but i was pleasantly surprised to see just a positive video! good job man! game looks fun too! I haven't played it but i heard vampire survivors referred to as an auto-shooter, so maybe it's that genre?
The moment you showed Pokémon and Hades I was SOOOOO intrigued
I was really confused about the title for a second because Bullet Heaven is the title of an indie bullet hell game
There's actually 2 of them! They're part of the Epic battle fantasy series by Matt Roszak on Steam.
I think the word you're looking for is Shmup
Pandit is not a bandit
Pandit Is not a bandit
*Pandit is not a bandit*
Some days you just can’t get rid of a Bombat
Snordiceps is an S tier concept and design.
Tyregg = Digitamomon. Tell me I’m not the only one who saw that.
I like when different portmanteau creature collecters have distinct naming conventions from each other despite the fact that they're all using puns
edit:spelling
Idk if bullet purgatory is an official term but it’s what I’ve always called these types of games
I followed Patch Quest's production and it was really fun and interesting. Can't wait to play this game!
BTW isn't Vampire Survivors also a Bullet Heaven?
Happy birthday man.
Also I really like it when you explore other pokemon like games like this, and this game does look intreasting.
Isn’t Coppra basically a brown Arboc?
Happy Birthday Lockstin!! 🥳🥳🎉
Ps. My favourite one were Seabra and Seabro, such a clean pun
so, is this armed pikachu shooting offbrand pokemon?
Happy Birthday, Lockstin! This game looks interesting. I'll look into it after the video. ^_^
I really wanted a Pecharunt video explaining it and its theme, history, other stuff
I LOVE THIS GAME AND YOUR CHANNEL SO MUCH HOW DID I MISS THIS VIDEO FOR SO LONG
PATCH QUEST VIDEO!? YES!!!!
13:34 ah i see, your a man of culture as well
OMG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR PATCH QUEST SINCE I FIRST SAW THE DEV'S LOG, IS IT OUT?!
Is it sad that these are actually more creative and have better design synergy than a lot of pokemon in recent generations...?
Kaadomon: Hyper Auto Battlers next?
I named a few things in this game!! So excited to see what you think about Snaipalm :))
as someone who has been playing the game thought development I am glad that you covered the game
waiting for the inevitable palworld videos coming soon
Alright, there's enough wit and creativity in this game that I'll need to look into it.
Ive seen the dev blogs of this game it’s come so far
I saw "pokemon bullet" and assumed you would be discussing Palworld lol
Looks like a fun game I might try it, also I think the best way to describe this game is Bullet-geddon.
since Mr. Lockstin clearly loves covering monster collector games, i recommend Prodigy Math Game
*This seems to give me Binding of ISSAC vibes*
I initially thought this was a sponsored video and was wary about clicking on it, glad I did the game looks cool
Great video!
Question. With the release of the new PALWORLD game, can we expect a video about it sometime in the future?
So I went to Steam to put the game in a wishlist and turns out it's already on my library. Probably got it on a bundle and didn't remember about it. Nice.
Yeah I played the beta and I never thought it actually get a release
♪Call upon the Seaponies♪
I think I heard of this game ages ago and I played a pre-release demo. And then silence.
Now get all pets gold crown and all shiny pins, and all challenges gold medals and all achievements
If you got a team of 6 of these dudes what would your team bee
Hey! I used to watch his dev logs about this game!
Omg yes!! Im soooo freaking excited to see this game on your channel!!
