One of the very few Sonys not made for them by Samsung. It’s a real Sony! You can always tell when you’ve got a Samsung - it has an onscreen tracking ‘meter /gauge’ display that shows the first time you insert a tape.
I wouldn't say it's one of "the very few Sonys." Many of these Sony VCR models made in Malaysia were real Sonys. The 662hf (which is the one I have), 679hf, n50, n81, etc. Many Sony VCRs are authentic. It's definitely (and thankfully) not rare.
