    I have worked with the Amish and seen first hand this stuff happen. It ended up bad.
    Now almost 7 years later, I decided to write an Amish fiction story. that covers this subject.
    thanks for sharing this.

    CJ and Lizzie... thank you so much for doing these videos!! This topic needs SO much to be addressed and talked about everywhere.
    I am 63 years old, non-Amish and a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. It can destroy a person’s whole life. Girls and boys alike. God bless you both!

      So very true! I’m 44 year old non Amish woman, wife, and mother but the horrific experiences I endured have followed me and influenced me my entire life. Thankfully my husband is the kindest, most gentle man I have ever known and his love and care have made all the difference in the world to me. Together we created a safe home for myself and our large family. Sexual abuse happens everywhere, including religious communities. ❤

    6 weeks shunned, what a joke! That guy needed time in prison and a confrontation with an angry dad, if i was your dad i would have done something real serious to him. Things in that community need to change, kids need to know they can tell someone if something is happening to them.

      Agreed. Sexual abusers should suffer a lifelong punishment, a permanent punishment. It is what they have perpetrated upon an innocent CHILD, therefore that is what they have earned.

    For adults, The Wounded Heart by Dr.Dan B. Allender, was helpful to me. But hard to swallow at first, because he talks about forgiving yourself for building walls to keep out relationships. Etc that occurs as a reaction to protect yourself. It's incredible to me that the 'church' expects us to walk normal when we are running around with these bulletholes in us. Got to get that bullet out, the infection around it out and give it time to heal.

    Again a powerful video. I’m not Amish. But I am very interested in the life’s of Amish people. I find it very different from what I had believed prior. I just didn’t know. It’s not much different than my life growing up. I was taught to work hard, was given a lot of responsibility as a young person and learned respect of my parents. I’m so glad that Lisy was strong enough to do this. I too was assaulted as a child, and have never told another person about it except one. He was a member of a church and didn’t know how to respond. He made me feel that I was at fault. But I understand that he just wasn’t trained on dealing with this type of issue so I just moved on. Thank you for your voice in this important matter.

    Why would the adults in the community punish the victim after horrible sexual abuse? Can't they see that an adult is much physically stronger than a child? And, a child can't give consent. That is absolutely heartbreaking.

    • @sarahalderman3126
      @sarahalderman3126 Год назад

      They mature before they marry honey. Sexual abuse happens everywhere in this world and is far more common in the nonAmish world. Heck what’s happening now in the US with the whole trans movement is far, far, far worse as it is actually the abuse, sexual objectification, and grooming of children. Our popular media is simply another example, pop culture, social media, porn, and the massive sex industry are far more sexist and abusive than a man heading a household. The fact is that marriage requires a leader and men are naturally driven to lead. Most women eventually discover that submission comes naturally when they are in a safe and loving relationship.

    The dedication, you give to your religion, is what u do when u believe. It's what your parents taught u, and what they were taught!!! I admire the fact that yourselves have your experiences, outside your religious beliefs, which can be very daunting when your views change, as many faiths do! I'm a brought up Catholic, non practising for over 40 years. I love my god, everyone's God. Every believer in our God, knows his suffering. When did he make rule's?? To my knowledge of the Bible? God only spread love and faith, faith of love. My beliefs are today!! Persons have abused our lord's name in excuses for everything... Just my opionins.. love your channel, courageous lady. But a very, wronged child, but as I comment another child in some religion is suffering!!!!!my thoughts are, take out the perpetrators, they hide behind our God! They are criminals! Abusing, the innocents, they must be brought to justice! The law! And be jailed for what our lord WOULD never accept. In our day CHILD ABUSE..

    I do not understand why a member is not excommunicated when he commits a sin(our church calls it a sin unto death or a sin of separation) so horrible. Our Anabaptist church would for sins of fornication, adultery, murder and blasphemy. Those members are allowed to come to church but are not members of the church anymore.

    Amish life is bondage. People have the wrong impression about Amish life - what they see in tourist brochures; cute, attractive, photogenic, and all that. But it's hell, for the women especially. U.S. Courts should not deal leniently with Amish child abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and all the sordid crimes hidden under the veneer of "bonnets, beards, horse-drawn buggies, etc". A lot of these vile male perpetrators have gotten away lightly, when they should have been hanged or exiled or kept locked up in prison for 10 years at least.
    The Amish are no better than the Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons, and probably worse.
    The least the evangelical church in America can do is to reach out to the Amish with the gospel of the glorious liberty we have in Christ Jesus.

  • @JustKrista50
    @JustKrista50 2 года назад +2

    I'm saying it again here: you are required by law to report abuse of a child, to the law.
    Sexual predators will get more victims. They often have more than one at a time. There is no program to "heal" them. You will not pray them into better behavior By "forgiving" the abuser, you leave others open to abuse. And it is not the responsibility of the victim.
    I'm all for letting go of anger. Work past that. Leave the forgiveness of an abuser's soul to Jesus. You nor I are responsible for anyone's salvation.

      Well, I have serious doubts about that! I was raised in a pentecostal church of God! My dad physically abused all 7 of us (his children) for our ENTIRE CHILDHOOD! He was a "teacher" of the book of revelations in MANY CHURCHES! Because of his abuse and acceptance by the "christian" people in those churches we, his children, were labeled "bad kids".Even through all the abuse and plain meaness of "God's people" I have still believed in God! I can tell you that I have suffered through MANY HORRIBLE THINGS THAT GOD COULD HAVE PREVENTED if he had so chosen! So do not tell me that God don't let bad things happen to people who believe in him! That IS NOT TRUE!!!!
