I just submitted my application for this year. Not fully certain ill get in but im hopeful!
And tbh i feel like if you got 95+ atar with all prereqs youd be hard pressed to not get into your desired course no matter what, so idk what that "benefit" is, but maybe i just dont understand how uni entry works.

hey!! that's def a valid question to have. i find that with most of these kinds of programs, the main advantage is the connections you make with fellow high school students, uni students and university academics. for me, the kld program helped me better understand uni life and the opportunities available to me which led to me completing a research internship with a Melb Uni professor in year 12. so i guess the main 'benefit' is the exposure to opportunities and ability to immerse yourself into uni life a bit earlier than everyone else. however, it is obviously what you make of it! hope that helps and good luck :)

Hi!! I’m so sorry for the late reply but thank you for your comment. Firstly congrats on getting accepted!!! To answer your question, there are several benefits for this program before and during uni. For example, you can attend unit 3/4 revision sessions, exclusive campus tours, overnight stays at the university and the day 0 event which I covered in this video. Additionally, you have guaranteed admission into any Melb Uni course if you get a 95+ atar or 90+ if you are a regional student (check this as it may change year to year!). After you get into the university, they also offer financial support for relocation and for studying abroad. However, for me, I found the biggest benefit was the connections I make because this program allows you to meet likeminded students who will likely be attending Melb Uni with you which is really wonderful. Hope that helps :)

Hiii, Great video. I have a question, I'm one the 5 students being endorsed by my school solely based on my grades but I don't think I have leadership skills and I am not really a social person. Should I apply anyway?

Hi, thank you for your comment! I would definitely still apply. Even if you don’t have that many extracurriculars/leadership roles, if you focus on the impact of the work you have done, you can create a really compelling story. The program is also looking for well-rounded students so if your grades are really good that may help to balance your applications. For example, my grades weren’t extraordinary compared to my classmates but because I had lots of extracurriculars, I still got in! Hope that helps :)

Awesome video! Any tips on writing your application for the program? My school is getting us to write a piece on why we should be recommended and I was looking for some tips or advice!

Thank you for your comment and I'm so sorry for the late reply! In terms of application writing, make sure to research the program well so you understand what the selection panel is looking for. For example, KLD is all about well-rounded students who have demonstrated community involvement. Once you've identified these things, include them in your application. Additionally, give specific examples to support your claims and demonstrate your passion. For example, I want to do the Bachelor of Science at UniMelb so I focused on my scientific extracurriculars such as research, my youtube channel, etc. Hope that helps :)

Hey just got endorsed by my school and i’m lacking a in grades a bit but my passion for science, leadership and community involvement profile is very strong. How do you think i’ll go? Love the introduction video btw 🎉

Thank you so much! I think it varies from person to person but from my understanding, the program at the holistic application, not just your grades! Good luck :)
